Great little place with awesome sandwiches. really enjoyed the selection of artisan creations. The food is local sourced with homemade ingredients. The owner is really friendly. There is a family style table in the middle. With a small table in the window overlooking downtown area. A great little find while we were passing through on our visit to the area.

This is one of the cutest spots around the shoreline and has by far the best chef running it. The food is fresh, tasty, unique, and made from true talent. This is exactly what the shoreline needs. The pasta is phenomenal! You cant find too many places wth fresh made pasta. Amazing and unique!!!

Added a star for the mature attentive staff that I’ve experienced three times in a row.

This place is not perfect, but they are serious about food, not pretending to be interested as part of their shtick, which one sees a lot in these CT river towns like neighboring Chester. Lots of variety in the main dishes — my 94-year-old mother scoffed down her chicken salad sandwich making appreciative noises the whole time. No alcohol, but I went next door to the supermarket and got a beer and drank it with my roast beef and horseradish sandwich. Their multigrain bread, baked there, is really good, quite a bit better than one normally finds in places like Whole Foods; definitely worth buying. Their lemon bars are so intense my wife shuddered with excitement when she spoke about them, after we got home. And they have cookies made with lavender!, which anyone who’s eaten in Holland will be grateful for. All in all a small takeout-oriented place that serves onsite meals too; mostly sandwiches but some hot dishes; a little plain-feeling, to be honest — they seem sort of completely home-taught; but serious and talented about what they cook, and cheap too! And again, in comparison with Chester, much to Chester’s disadvantage(and I grew up there), these people are actually friendly!

I love the food here, the pasta is great, but I particularly love the desserts. The peanut butter pie is absolutely amazing! And the young lady who works here is very friendly and polite.

Good god how long does it take to make a sandwich especially if there is only one other customer around?

Very good local place with a comfortable atmosphere for a casual lunch or breakfast. I enjoyed a plate of various salads with the highlight being their kale salad– really delicious. I enjoyed every bite of my roast brussel sprouts and tuna as well. I will definitely return for lunch. Great value!

AMAZING. Don’t hesitate, don’t wait. Dough on Main made one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a very long time — a delicious shrimp po’ boy. Worth every penny.

We came here because of Unilocal reviews. We were not let down! Spinach Pasta with Gorgonzola Alfredo. Absolutely delicious! Community table inside. Don’t pass this little gem.

Made me look like a star! I was on my way home and needed something quick to take home for dinner with my other half. Picked up their Mango Rice and Mediterranean Chicken(It may have a slightly different name). The chicken was the perfect portion size with capers, olives and tomatoes and the rice was fabulous! The counter help was really helpful too!

Another great small business. Nestled in with the other shops along Deep River’s Main Street. We stopped in, with hopes of finding something for dinner. We walked out with a batch of frozen meat ravioli, a container of mango jalapeño soup and a pecan bar. The woman behind the counter was very helpful. She instructed us on how to prepare the ravioli. We opted to take it a step further, and used an Alton Brown recipe(pan fried with sage). She was also nice enough to cut our pecan bar in half. It is much too large for one person. There were plenty of other things that we could’ve bought; pastas, prepared foods and salads. We’re already planning a trip back, so there’s plenty of time to stock up later.

It is ok. Though prices for sandwich is a bit steep for the area considering there are no sides. It is ¼ of a baguette, 2 slices of cheese and some tomatoes for near 8.50. Bread was a bit too crunchy but that is just a personal preference — I prefer it a little softer and warm. Counter folks were nice enough but I would not go back for the food.

Concept is average where I’m from but apparently innovative in this neck of the woods. They specialize in fresh made pastas– which I didn’t try. It’s a «grab & go» sort of place. But there is a small communal table. The service was pleasant but sloooow. The eggplant sandwich was nice & flavorful same for the asparagus soup. The coffee was in a carafe– not fresh & warm at best. The lemon tart was ok– way more short bread crust than lemon curd– but the flavor & consistency was fine. Street parking. Non public restroom.

What a great little place! I can’t comment on their pasta, but I went in for a sandwich and a hot tea. The selection of sandwiches was fantastic, and I got an incredible black bean cake wrap that was as delicious and fresh as you could possibly want. I don’t normally give out five stars very easily, but what pushed this place over the edge was the unbelievably excellent service. You literally couldn’t ask for better service. I will definitely be back. Prices are very reasonable, and the atmosphere is charming.

Made for my daughter a great grilled cheese sandwich with tomato when we were pressed for time and a quick meal. The tomato was summer — like, and the sandwich was toasted just right.

We stopped in for a little dessert after a lunch date. DELICIOUS. Cute place right on Main St. in Deep River. Staff was super friendly. I had the pecan bar, Toni had the raspberry lemon tart. Thinking about it makes me want another. We’ll be back.

Great local pasta shop that offers breakfast sandwiches, lunch, bakery items and of course, fresh pasta. We stopped for two egg/bacon/cheese sandwiches and they were outstanding!

This place has become my new favorite spot. They have sandwiches, fresh soups, a case full of amazing entrees and sides, fresh pasta cut to order, and a frozen case with their homemade soups and ravioli. Oh and I cannot forget the sinful deserts!!! I honestly have not had anything here that I didn’t like, it’s clear that the owners and their staff have a passion for food. They keep a few dishes consistently in the case, and switch the rest so there is always something new to try. Things I would recommend: kale salad, any of the fresh pastas, the black bean cake wrap, Thai pasta salad(made with their home made pasta!), the hanger steak, and any of their deserts. I live 4 towns over and this place is well worth the trip, everything is priced very well and the quality of the food is superb. I’ve gone in there just for their pasta a few times and it made the world of difference to the meal I cooked that evening.(Just ask about the cook times for the pasta and ravioli) it would be a crime to accidentally overcook that pasta! The atmosphere is awesome too, there’s a family style table so expect to make a new friend or two :)

Great spot for a quick and tasty lunch. Was in town on business with a co-worker. The quaint looking little place on the corner had just closed, and the owner suggested we try the dough on the Green down the street. It looks more like a shop where you might buy fresh pasta, however also serves sandwiches and other entrees. I ordered the ham salad, and it was delicious… not too much mayo, and just a hint of horseradish on a fresh multigrain bread. My co-worker got chicken salad sandwich and said it was terrific. He said it had a slight taste of apricot and was very good. Nice selection of bottled drinks, and great, friendly service. We both agreed we would eat there again. I left with a homemade chocolate chip cookie(don’t tell my wife!) and it was really good. The pasta on display really looked good, and next I will take some home.

Dough on Main? So this place is a pizza joint? Nope. OK it must be a bakery? Not really. It’s a shop that makes home made pasta and a few other things. But their specialty is their home made pasta. Hence the«dough» in the name. In fact, they make the pasta right in front of you when you order it. Their machine is in front of the window. By «other things» I mean they sell some sauces, some ravioli, some prepared foods, and some bakery goods. They also make sandwiches that you can enjoy either inside or outside(there’s a couple small tables outside). I wished their dried pastas were advertised more clearly, because I almost walked out not seeing them on display against the back wall. IMO they should put samples out on the counter top and put out a huge sign saying FRESHPASTA — MADETOORDER. Spaghetti, linguini, or fettuccine shapes are available and cost about $ 5 a pound. They offer about six different flavored pastas(two examples are hot pepper and fresh herb). I purchased some pasta and while I liked it, I think I made it too mushy. They advise to cook it only for a couple minutes, and I did do that, but it still came out mushy. Next time I might experiment a little bit more with the cook time. Plus, I noticed it helps to break apart the pasta before putting it into the pot. I just assumed it would loosen up in the boiling water. It didn’t and some of it remained clumped together. Addendum: After speaking with the counter person, I think I learned why my pasta cooked mushy. It was because it sat in my car for a long time. I’m told the yeast in the pasta will get active in wam temperatures, so it’s important to refrigerate it right away at home.
