3rd time here with Simba. They still allow dogs. *Phew*. But you have to sit at the open, unsheltered area. And sit on the edge, no center tables. Service as usual is great. Food arrives timely. Our server disappears when you want her and magically appears when you look up looking for help.

Great meal. Lemon dressing on salmon salad! Eat in the shade outside. Lots of parking. Jamie = super server!

I sat at the bar today and was shocked by the terrible service and surly and superior-acting bartender. He served me a drink so full that it spilled everywhere when I tried to move it. He didn’t check back with me for 5 minutes after giving me the drink so I sat there with half of it spilled in my lap and the other half spilled on the counter. Finally when I caught his eye and politely requested a napkin he tossed it across the bar, yea… tossed… and thats saying it kindly, more like threw. And of course my «margarita no salt» tasted like he’d dumped a tablespoon of salt in the drink, it was undrinkable. So I politely put my card to the bar to indicate if like to pay but he ignored me and my card for another 15 minutes, only approaching after I flagged him down. Really disappointing. I’m a local and I’ll never come back.

Love the UJ! Great staff, great neighbors and great food. They have the best burgers around and you’ll love the homemade spicy egg rolls. Can’t say enough good things about the staff. I’m always greeted with a smile and even sometimes a hug. In reference to SG’s post… Actually, I couldn’t disagree more. Bruce is by far one of the best and most attentive bartenders. Sorry, you felt like you had a bad experience. Please come back again and give it another chance. I’ve been coming to the UJ for 16 years and I adore the management staff and patrons. They are my friends and neighbors. Just remember you are always welcome and the staff and friend of the UJ welcome you back any time. Hope to see you soon!

Really nice place. They have great salads. My favorite is the grilled chicken salad with arugula and lemon zest. The grilled salmon salad is pretty good too.

One of the best places in Decatur. All of Oakhurst is awesome. U Joint is best place in Oakhurst. Great patio and fun atmosphere inside too. Food is delicious. Dogs allowed on patio as long as you sit near outside rail.

Love the patio and bloody mary’s. Good beer list and menu. Service can be hit-or-miss, though; they tend to get in the weeds when business picks up. So, just go when it’s not so busy; that’s what we do!(it still would be nice to go on a Saturday without being forgotten about or the server getting too busy to refill our drinks or bring our check)

My husband and I frequent U Joint since it’s a short walk from our place. We’ve always had great service(especially Ryan!) and love the food. Go on a sunny day and enjoy the huge patio and good beer!

Had our first Decatur All Womens Network meeting at UJ today. Hands down the best service and food! Highly recommended.

You kidding? It’s the U Joint! Legendary Oakhurst food beer-booze-food-booze did i mention beer? joint, with a heaping helping of locals. Yes you will find great burgers, wings, pub fare and specials like a T-Bone steak that will shock you for its goodness. You also will find some very cool East Siders from the neighborhoods surrounding. If you are live here already or are adventuring to the more authentic establishments in the Greater ATL, the UJ is a gem. It’s all good here in the ‘hood.

Such a great local spot. Wonderful bar, friendly servers, and yummy food. We’re here at least 3 times a week. Love the specials and the standard menu. The kids love the kids menu, everything 5 dollars! The Old 1 – 2 is my favorite burger here, and LOVE the hummus and olive tapenade. Of course the universal fries are world famous. Ryan is one of the best servers, he always knows what we want. Can’t get enough!

It looks very nice, but unfortunately I couldn’t eat in there today since nobody took our order. On the contrary, the two waitress I asked help for yelled at me, being extremely disrespectful and rude! Disappointing.

Used to be really good. Now it feels like the ingredients are cheaper and the portions smaller. They even got rid of the wonderful steak fries. Still okay, but they were so much better before.

I had terrible service here, which is too bad because the food was pretty decent. There weren’t a ton of people there(or at least not enough to justify terrible service). I had to ask multiple times just to get a water, let alone order an actual drink. Once we finally got our drinks, we then had to wait FOREVER in order to just put our order in. It honestly was like our drinks were our appetizers and the server waited for us to finish them until we placed the order. Once we finally placed our order and got our food, we didn’t see the server again until our food was gone and we were waiting for our check. I’ve heard that there are different servers and some of them are pretty bad. I suppose I’ll give it another shot given that the food was decent and the atmosphere was good… but if the service continues to be terrible, I certainly won’t come back. There are too many other great places in the area where service isn’t terrible.

As locals, we love that we can stroll to the Universal Joint, enjoy the patio and have a beer. I am also a fan of the black bean burger. I know this is also a bar, but there is a family friendly vibe with the patio on the Oakhurst Square and the benefits for local elementary schools. We were in for a late afternoon(not late bar times) snack with our kids. One of the waitresses had shorts so shorts they did not cover her backside while standing and yet she also bent over as if there was another layer of pants over those shorts. It was gross. I lost my appetite. Hopefully, the waitstaff can be encouraged to cover themselves for the sake of families in for lunch or dinner.

This place is so fun. Food = yummy num nums. The staff is cool and friendly but not fake. The food is solid and not like«I’m so cool trying so hard.» Get the u-tots if you like tater tots with cheese, bacon and white sauce(they’re really good after hot yoga when you need that pick me up). When I’m on a diet I get the hummus or edamame and stick to wine and beer to fill me up. The bar area is my favorite — you can talk to anyone at the bar and the bartenders have always been really welcoming!

It is a great place to sit down and enjoy an outside meal with friends after a trip to the dog park. They are dog friendly on the patio and have plenty of space that it will not be effected by other patrons having their canines there as well. The service has always been fast and responsive. The humus plate is a great dish that can be shared. The burgers are nice and juicy as well.

I just had dinner there tonight. The setting is super casual but not at all trashy, it’s casual in the way that it’s relaxing and informal. I didn’t see the inside because we ate outside. The tables/chairs outside are patio-style. They have a smoking and non-smoking section. I would say the noise level outside is average-loud, fairly typical when you’re in an outdoor restaurant at night. The service was good — the waitress was quick to bring our drinks and food, both of which were really good! I had a full meal(chicken sandwich and fries) along with 2 alcoholic drinks for like $ 13. All in all, no complaints, I will definitely be coming back.

The U Joint is a cool little spot in Oakhurst with a classic bar menu. Nice place for a close-to-home laid back meal, which is probably what most of the customers are in search of. Nice patio in the warmer months, and very dog friendly. In fact, if you don’t have a dog or a child with you, you might be in the minority(this is Oakhurst, after all). The service can be a little spotty– there’s no host(ess), so you have to hope that someone sees you when you come in. This is not a fine dining experience where someone is waiting on you hand and foot. Probably not the best place to come if you’re in a rush :-) Get the brisket nachos! They’re yumski with the queso and pickled jalapenos.

I’ve been to UJoint twice this week and man, both times they just knocked it outta the park. Slow Older Bearded Guy Server wasn’t there(slow as in pace, not as in «special»). Wed night they were slammed and I still got my food in a totally decent time. I ordered the chicken fingers basket and noticed it was way smaller than before which in all honest was really nice. It was a more appropriate serving and I really dug it. Yesterday; I was there for lunch and I was waited on by Elyse. She was hands down one the most pleasant servers I have ever had. She was so sweet, kept my water full and was really cool to talk to as well. My black bean burger was as epic as ever. Every time I have one I feel like my face is being made love to. The tots were kick ass as usual and again, I’m a huge fan. It’s so great to have such awesome experiences at my favorite neighborhood joint. Keep it up y’all!
