This place has undergone a lot of changes over the years, from when it was Jimmy Ryan’s to just Main Place and now this St. Nicholas Grille, which I guess is own or run by the same people as Debbie’s Diner? Even when it was Jimmy Ryan’s it was hit or miss, but it had an interesting selection of more fine dining items that fit with the rest of the restaurants downtown. When I first went to it as St. Nicholas Grille, it was alright. I could eat out on the patio and the menu was, again, more extensive and had a few«German» items… then I went with a friend when it had become the Debbie’s Diner hybrid-whatever… I got a wrap, which was underwhelming and the soda was flat. We were confined to just this one, boxy room. The service was okay, and just recently we had this guy chase us out of the parking lot area when we headed across the street to Lincoln since parking was so limited. Pretty sure that even though I wasn’t impressed with St. Nicholas that even more so I won’t be coming back. The downtown area has a very friendly atmosphere. I think it’s stupid to chase out potential customers just because they aren’t eating there THAT day. So, good luck with what you’ve got going on now, I won’t be recommending this place ever. Such a great spot and they repeatedly fail at reinventing it into something that can be successful. There are way better choices downtown and if you want a diner with good food, try the Downtown Café.

Myself and a group of esteemed colleagues from work attended the St. Nicholas grill on a sunny Monday. Our group ordered three buffalo chicken wraps; which were slightly above average. Unfortunately, as even our waitress was able to notice, they were falling apart. The menu was standard and not as extensive as other lunch restaurants we have experienced. However, the service was interactive and the food was cooked well. Our standards are high but we found the st. Nicholas experience to be three stars.

My husband and I visited a few weeks ago and had a great meal. My husband was very excited by the large pretzel appetizers, which came with both marinara and hot mustard. I ordered the pork schnitzel with mushroom gravy, which was great, and the mac n’ cheese was a delicious side. Not the biggest fan of cabbage, but I didn’t know that until I tried it! My husband had a burger, and it was also good. We ate inside, but the patio area looked really nice. We’ll go back to try it before the weather gets cold.
