This is a great place off your an inspiring artist or a already know your way around the wheel. Throwing pottery it turns out comes natural to me. I really learning from the other artists. They have«Rangers» that work to assist you with your projects. They have potlucks and contests, classes and art shows. You will have access to a fridge sinuous can bring your lunch. You can also drink a glass of your favorite adult beverage you enjoy but you’ll have to bring that with you. You’ll need to purchase a membership which they offer monthly or yearly.

There is so much to say about this place! The studio and staff are amazing if you are looking to learn or create. The gallery is amazing if you’re looking to shop. If you’re looking for fun, you’ll find it here… along with yummy treats at most receptions and events. Date nights and private parties are awesome at this place!

It is an awesome place to shop for beautiful and sophisticated pottery pieces as gifts to others or yourself. Or if you’re a DYI person you can sign up and learn how to make things out of mud, fire them and then use them. I signed up for a month to try out because I love making art and then I was hooked. Now I’ve signed up for a year. People are super friendly and fun and there are always rooms to learn and share knowledge and laughter. Come check it out, you never know until you try.

Mudfire Clay Studio continued to with draw funds from my checking account long after I canceled my account. They were unwilling to work with me to resolve this issue and I am out a great deal of funds. DONOTTRUSTTHEM!

This is a neat spot with a nice gallery full of local art. The gallery houses a fair mix of decorative pieces as well as functional pieces(bowls, platters, mugs, cups, etc). The shared clay studio looked very well equipped, but we were just there to shop for holiday presents.

Ceramic studio for artist and folks interested in creating with clay, with work area for both wheel throwing and hand-building clay. Until I moved to Atlanta, I had only found clay studios like this in colleges, where one had to take classes, and follow a «curriculum». Beyond college most potters and ceramic artist have to build their own studio and everything they do is limited by what is possible in their space. At mudfire, I have access to professional studio with kilns, wheels, glazes and I leave all that mud and firing there and return home to my apartment. It’s a grand place and community of people. They have cone 06 electric and regular gas firing, as well as a raku sign up sheet.(I’ll be raku-ing this Sunday with half a dozen other people :-) for example. If you are a clay artist /sculptor or ever been interested in learning how to throw pottery, this is the place. They have two rows of wheels, a slab roller and more glazes then I’ve ever seen in any ceramic studio. P. S. If you are already deep into the clay then definitely check out the web page to attend the workshops. They have some really incredible artists coming to town from all over the country and some very famous US potters and artists from all over the world, Japan, Europe etc. Oh and if you are looking to buy pottery, not make it – the Mudfire gallery is one of the best ceramic galleries in Georgia.

Remember the scene in Ghost where Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze are getting fresh while making pottery. Well, that’s not exactly what this place it like. There are wheels and clay and tools and you will get your hands dirty, but, Mr. Swayze is no where to be found. At this studio you can learn to create pottery on the wheel or you can work on free form. There are so many experienced people there who will help you or show you a new technique. When I started, I could only throw things about the size of my fist. By the time I was finished I could make pots that were 10 inches tall, plates, and containers with lids! The owners, Eric and Luba are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. They encourage you to sign up for a trial month to see if you’ll like it. I believe that’s $ 99 and includes clay. Then if you want to continue, it’s $ 139 a month after that. This is a great deal because you not only get to create things with your hands, you can fire them in the kiln and glaze them to take home or give away. They also open the studio up as a gallery occasionally to display the work of the members. The location is definitely off the beaten path. It’s located across from the Dekalb Farmers market down Laredo Drive. I think you’ll have to cross over some train tracks and the studio will be on your right.
