About time I got back here — my previous few visits were all pre-renovation, years ago. Back then, my opinion was that Melton’s is a surprisingly nice neighborhood bar with pretty decent food, if a bit heavy on the fried. Post-renovation, that opinion stands. I need to come here more often. The menu is great — lots to chose from — but we were hankering for nachos. They have a few nacho choices, but none were what we really wanted — a Texas-style nacho plate: chips with lots of melted cheese and generous jalapenos. Maybe some black beans. However, we found if you order Melton’s Chicken & Bean nachos and hold the chicken, we’d be happy. That said, the Irish nachos seem like a must-try. Another time. We also were happy with the salmon salad. Maybe the salmon could have been kicked up a notch, but very nice overall. Apple pie and ice cream is awesome. Good draft beer list here and I really like how they present the choices on their board. Easy to read even for these tired eyes. It’s the details that make a difference sometimes. Super friendly bar service and super quick and efficient food delivery. Although I like sitting at the bar while in a pub, my only criticism here is the design of the bartop itself. I don’t like the swoopy, rounded, raised edge thing. It makes it harder to rest your elbows, as you should at the bar. Easy parking until it fills up. Not sure where you go then. But there’s a lot of spaces. Not loud. They don’t have Wi-Fi and they need to. Recommended.

The staff here is so nice and welcoming. It has a great casual jeans and tshirt feel. I had a Reuben and thought it was just OK, but I enjoyed the Irish nachos the most. Get these, you won’t be disappointed. My husband got the burger and LOVED it, so maybe next time I’ll try that. Will definitely go back again.

Good beer selection, good service, fresh, handmade, homemade chicken fingers were delicious. Most of the customers are baby boomers, so don’t expect a young hip crowd. I will return for good food and beer.

Quaint bar burrowed in Decatur. I came in on a Friday night and got fairly fast service as I was I walked thru the door. Only 5 minute door to table wait. Waiting service prompt. Food came in a reasonable time. Irish nachos and the apple pie are two items I would personally recommend. I’ll be back.

If you like heavy, unimaginative bar food this is the perfect place for you. If you think that adding butter, cheese, and salt to food is all that’s required to make it a gourmet feast, this will give you a culinary orgasm. I truly don’t understand how a place like this that is within reach of so many fantastic Decatur restaurants has managed to stay open for so long.

This is our favorite neighborhood hang-out, with a ton of tables and a warm, friendly staff that always makes us feel welcome. There’s a surprisingly diverse menu, with a good number of vegetarian options(I’m partial to the Irish nachos and the house-made veggie burger), a few of which are even healthy(as pub food goes). If they’re slammed, service can sometimes be a little slow, but the food is always prepared exactly as ordered, and it always tastes great! This is a great place to pop in with friends, meet co-workers, or just grab a quick meal at the bar. They also serve a full menu very late, in case you want to grab carry-out on your way home after work.

I have a list in Unilocal of places I want to visit. So when my friend suggested this place I was ecstatic. This had to be great, right. She raved about the waffle fries and other menu items. My rating is less than average. I ordered the«big turkey club». It was salty, luncheon meat on sliced bread(no bun) and the bread fell apart. It was a salty mess that was hard to eat served with mediocre waffle fries. As in grocery store brand with no salt or flair. the waiter even asked us if we needed ketchup with those bland fries. Because OBVIOUSLY bringing ketchup is a headache if you order fries. She ordered the fried chicken finger sandwich and seemed to enjoy it. Here’s the deal, these sandwiches are $ 10. And for that I expect more than low grade Oscar Mayer turkey on Wonder bread with Ore Ida fries. But that is what they are serving up here at Melton’s App and Tap. Maybe the beer is the draw but the food is not. Sorry. I will not be back. Edited to add, no disrespect or misrepresentation to Oscar Mayer, Wonder bread or Ore Ida intended

Everyone was seated promptly, which was great. However, the food was average. There was nothing so great about it. Half a sandwich really fills you up & the staff does a great job with making sure everyone is taken care of.

Nice beer selection, good snacks. Good amount of people inside just relaxing at the bar. Three tv screens, not too big, like 21 or 24 inches. Staff was attentive and nice. Right next to pet supermarket.

Came here with a big group of people and everyone was so accommodating! I was surprised to see the two hidden dining rooms that seats a lot more people. I ordered the hummus with vegetables and flatbread. It was so filling and the hummus was absolute perfection. So much so that I just had to pack it up and take it home. It would have been a waste to let it go. Can you tell I am obsessed with their hummus? It puts sabra hummus to shame!!! Hubby got the veggie burger and fries. He was very happy. The great beer selection is a huge plus. Love!!!

I am not opposed to trying new things/places, with that being said. At work the other day & one nurse has this menu pulled up. To keep from going out I sent an order with her. I love a good salad, in fact it is my belief that it is really hard to mess up a salad! My choice was the grilled Caesar salad. No crotons, the two are synonymous & now I am very disappointed in Melton.

IRISHNACHOS!!! If you have a large group that is ok with something greasy, this is one of the best possible appetizers you can imagine. Waffle fries, baked with cheese, jalapenos, and bacon + ranch on the side. Greatness. Its still awesome even if you hold the bacon too. Small size is actually pretty large, the big one is massive. Its the best part about this place. The beer selection on tap is decent and the food is solid. Reubens, tuna melts, burgers, and buffalo chicken sandwiches. I am a big fan of the pasta and potato salad side options, as I get Irish Nachos almost every time I come and have already had too many fries after that. The place is much larger than it looks like on the outside(3 rooms) and there is plenty of parking in the shopping center.

Good food, mediocre service. When they cook the burger medium-rare, it’s hard to beat(the Vortex should take a lesson). Alas, sometimes it’s overcooked, but not often enough for me to stop going back. The service is just past the threshold of deserving a tip.

16 years ago, I was visiting my dad. Despite informing him that I had already eaten, he insisted on taking me to Melton’s App & Tap. I remember having a few of the buffalo tenders and wishing I were more hungry. Fast forward 16 years, and I randomly remember those buffalo tenders and how much I wish I could try them again. I ask my dad if he remembers where he took me all of those years ago, and fortunately he did. Off to Melton’s we go! Melton’s menu features bar food at reasonable prices. I didn’t spend too much time looking at the menu, given that I already knew what I was going to get. My dad and I decided to share a pound of buffalo tenders and a regular basket of fries. There are many great drink options available on the menu, including Georgia-brewed craft beers. I wasn’t feeling quite so adventurous at the time, and ended up going with Barq’s Root Beer. Free refills on Root Beer automatically shoot a restaurant up a few ranks for me. The tenders and fries came out in a reasonable amount of time. I was bracing myself for a let down, but fortunately they didn’t let me down. The sauce on the tenders were the perfect blend of spiciness, butteriness, and saltiness. Waffle fries were crisp, fresh, and delicious. Both fries and tenders came with a special chipotle aioli-like dipping sauce. I probably should have asked about the sauce to be able to give a more detailed review, but I was too busy stuffing myself full of incredible food and root beer. Melton’s has been a fixture in Decatur for 20 years. I was delighted to be able to return, and I’m sure I’ll make many more visits in the future. Dine at Melton’s for a great bar with great food and great drinks.

The food is alright, nothing special. Per other reviewer’s suggestions, I had the buffalo tenders. The breading didn’t have much flavor, if at all. The wing sauce was a medium level of spiciness. We also had the Irish nachos, which were pretty good. Granted, they were covered in cheese and bacon, so how could you not? We came on a Friday night and it was hella busy. The overall meal took about 2 hours, and this was largely due to them just not having enough servers. You could tell they were trying, but we’re way more slammed than they had planned for. Overall, this place kind of felt line a chain due to it’s lack of imaginative or exceptional food. It’s not a bad choice if you’re in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go.

So, yes it took me 9 years to finally make it here. That is really sad. This place is great for adults, kids, and adults who act like kids. The place has a good amount of parking outside in a private lot. It is nice and friendly and bright inside with two rooms and big screen tvs. **Kids eat ½ off on Tuesday!** I ate the veggie burger with waffle fries and it was delicious. It was served on an onion bun with lettuce tomato and onion. 2 sauces came on the side– parmesan garlic and a roumalade. The fries were crispy. My kids had mac and cheese which was yummy too. I wish I ordered the Irish Nachos. What are those you ask??! Well, they are nachos, but they are not nachos. The base of it is waffle fries topped with some amazing things and bacon. The service was great. All of the servers, bartenders, cooks were super friendly. They even spoke to my kids. You could tell that this is a local’s spot. All is welcome though!

The food here is generic. The waffle fries with cheese and bacon is great, but beyond that… you’re left wanting. The pizza seems like it could have been a single serve frozen pizza. And our chicken tenders were barely breaded. Dusted perhaps. I’d only come back for the waffle fries.

I’ve been eating at Melton’s regularly since I was in high school, and have NEVER had a bad meal. One time I ordered the broccoli cheddar bites and thought they were kinda yucky, but I blame me for that because I already know I hate broccoli with cheese. Lesson learned! Other than that, EVERYTHING, literally ev er ee th in ggggg is delicious. The cheese puff basket is good, the nachos of all varieties are scrumptious, the chicken tenders are the best in the land, the artichoke dip is probably made by gods or really cute babies or something, aaaand yeah I guess I mostly have their menu memorized. They make an Italian beef that has tiny pieces of bacon in it, and it’s so salty/savory/good. The tuna melt always hits the spot. Sometimes I ask them to put the dill chicken salad in a melt instead, and they do it, and it’s delicious. The chicken tender melt, buffalo-style, is a super satisfying sandwich. Their burger does everything right, especially if you can get it medium rare. I love their pasta salad, but somehow their potato salad is even better. And if you forget to order those and end up with fries, they’re the waffle kind and come with spicy blue cheese dip! Say what! Melton’s is solid, and I love it and hope it never ever changes or goes away. You should go there now. And then again for like 75 months in a row. Trust me. At my work we can’t agree on anything, even pizza, and we all like Melton’s. Oh wait I just remembered: IRISHNACHOS. Waffle fries, cheese, jalapeños, bacon bits, green onions, and ranch dressing. Let me guess, you’re heading to your car right now? GOGOGO
