Extremely arrogant and poor customer service. Very discriminating against non-Arabic speaking people. I’d never shop here ever!

I am a fan with some reservations. Love the produce, but as someone else said check the freshness. But for price, once you’re exposed to purchasing produce in east Dearborn grocers in general you cannot go back to franchise grocery store rip offs! Ten lemons for a dollar, bell peppers rock bottom prices, grapes priced fairly. Parsley bunches a dollar! Unusual produce items are found as well. I am not an olive fan and as a rule I avoid open foods on a ‘bar’, but if you are into olives they seem to have quite a sampling! Juices and cereals very over priced and limited selection. Some specific kinds of cheese are reasonably priced. All kinds of nuts about and the specialty chocolate are cool to try out. Dry goods such as rice, lentils etc. ample and well stocked. As others have said the deli counter service can be weird. They have the number pull thing that’s never used? You have to fight your way to the front of the line and often communication is poor. I love the mixed rice w/chicken items. The fried fish is the best price in town if you have a taste for that. I’ve never purchased butchered meat there, as there does not seem to be anyone at that counter to serve you often. I go else were in east Dearborn for my meats. Customer service can be spotty and disinterested sometimes, but as I have informed many people from Detroit and elsewhere to shop here I feel the service has improved. Parking lot? Yes it is too small and some are driving too fast in such a small space.

There are some great parts about this place and some pretty negative things about this store. On the positive end there is some amazing imported goods here. If you are looking for any number of Middle Eastern grocery items look no further. They have a huge selection! They also have a small section for cell phone accessories as well. Now for the negatives. 1)The parking lot is horrible. I have been hit twice in this parking lot over the years. Both times there was no damage to my car but it demonstrated how bad the parking lot is. 2)The produce is very much hit or miss. You can find some pretty good produce if you are willing to search, however sometimes it is quite a search. Good news is that the produce is priced very cheaply. 3)The store is great for imported goods but not so great for your regular groceries like cereal. Those items tend to be priced higher than other stores. If you are looking for a great selection of imported Middle Eastern goods than this place is for you. But the produce is not the best, so you may be disappointed in that regard.

The only good thing about this place is the GREAT customer service from Mohammad(kid), who works in the hot foot section. Every time I come there and he always greets you with highest respect and always with a smile and eagerness. The moukhiya is good too and the chicken Bechame. Everything else is okay. Beside those two savers, the rest of customer service lacks, especially on busy flow peaks. They have a number system for who no what because they not calling out numbers. There is no order when its busy. You literally have to fight to get your turn. There is no line and not enough staff placed during the lunch or dinner rush. The front cashiers are a hit or miss when it comes to customer service skills. Several times, I have come on a thursday and the berries are molded. I recommend they have a better monitoring system or stop over stocking becuase moldy fruits is a turn off. I have to say, if you happen to buy a moldy vegetable and didnt know it until you got home, they will accomodate with you changing it, without a fight or question. That happened to once. I was ready to rumble but the manager just said,: sure, go change your fruit”. If I dont see Mohammed there to service me, I just walk out 95% of the time because everyone else I dont feel like dealing with their dry personality in the back. Awesome kid with great customer skills.

They have some great deals. Specifically figs, which my daughter loves! BUT I cannot get service at the meat counter. I wanted sweetbreads — after I stand for 20 minutes and RVERY other person gets waited on. I’m told they don’t have them. They won’t look and can’t tell me if/when they will have them

There are some unique products and great prices. But nothing can compensate for the terrible customer service and a dirty store. The chaos and mess in the parking lot are a good sign of what’s inside. And good luck finding a shopping cart that functions properly. On three occasions I’ve seen their employees park their vehicles right near the front and go in to start their shift. That’s a reflection on management. These stores keep popping up and it appears they have the market cornered, which explains management’s apathy. Many employees are rude and poorly trained. The food service counter has a number system in place, but it is never used. Instead, you have pushy customers with zero social skills walking up and placing their order, oblivious to the swell of people waiting in line. What’s worse is the employees allow it. I’ll have to find a new source for my hummus.

The deals are great! If you are in the process of changing your life style through food this is a good way to get started with the great deals on fruit and vegetables. The store is always crowed parking is crazy but it’s worth it! WILDOUTWEDNESDAY is really a good deal. I try a different store every week just for fun

Came here from Maryland for the first time and i just had to stock up on halal food and cheeses and za3taar. They have so much variety and all the staff are friendly and helpful, not to mention beautiful mashallah. If you’re looking for Lebanese food to buy in bulk, this is the place. I spent about 3 hours here and im still going back today! Cons: gets crowded sometimes. Shopping carts hard to maneuver. Shop needs a bit more organization and appeal. Produce not all fresh.

I went out to Super Greenland because of the olive bar. Very Middle Eastern — most of the ladies had head scarves. Without even trying I found dates from Saudi Arabia, dessert bars made with hazelnuts and chocolate from Poland and olives of all types from who knows where. I even got some pickled mangoes which AREVERYSTRONG. Very extensive selection of produce and grains and seeds. Made me think of a Middle Eastern WalMart— not as big but a lot of selection of a lot of things. I will be back for sure because I just checked out a little bit. Prices very reasonable. Only negative was that it was crowded and parking was a little crazy.

I am impressed with their fast food section. Their prices are cheapest in the market and almost everything I tasted was awesome. I had Iraqi Kabap that is 10 pieces for $ 10. Super deal. I had grape leaves that were warm and savory, that was awesome. 6 pieces of Felafel is offered for $ 1.50. They look were appealing, however, their inside was dry. I think I noticed that felafel is not fried according to my expectation. Instead of ball shapes I would prefer flat hamburger-shaped patties. They have lots of dishes, kabaps, bakery pasties and sweats and more to try. I will certainly be back to try other choices.

We went here as part of a culinary tour put on by the Arab American National Museum. This supermarket has a great variety of hard-to-find imported Middle Eastern specialties, some nice looking produce(which several folks on the tour with us who shopped there regularly said was consistently very fresh and cheap!) and a great selection of ready-to-eat dishes you could get as a take-out order or eat in the store’s small dining area. We tried fried kubba fries, tomato kibbeh, pita, hoummas and a yogurt dipping sauce while we were there… and it was all very tasty. Can’t wait to consult our Mideastern cooking book so we can head on back out the Super Greenland to find the ingredients and do some produce shopping. The olive bar selection also looked great while we were there… I’m anxious to check that out and try some specialty olives as well! The store was busy… and the parking lot was busy… so I’d suggest heading out to the store mid-day on a weekday if at all possible.

Yeah Awesome. I kinda have a weird obsession with markets — of any kind really. But places like Super Greenland Market really stand out as truly exceptional. It is a Middle Eastern specialty supermarket that I feel like two decades ago would have been a mere fantasy or delusional pipe dream. Even if you have absolutely nothing to do with Middle Eastern culture but appreciate authentic markets, this is a must see as your taste buds will truly get a run for their money. You will notice how many non-Middle Eastern folks shop here. I admire the management of Greenland Market because it has become so malleable to diverse tastes and has been good in terms of introducing new things to Middle Easterners. For example, I can totally expect to see Halal fried chicken but would have never expected to see a full-service sushi bar — a very good one at that! Mind you, the layout is comparable to a typical supermarket. Think of the Korean-themed H-Mart but a Middle Eastern version of it. The fresh olive bar alone would want to make you come here — it’s guaranteed you’ve probably never seen this extensive, a colorful panoply of pickles and olives like this — unless you’ve ever seen the bazaars of Damascus or Amman.

I love Super Greenland for the fresh produce and freshly ground meat along with all the other delicious goodies that can be had here. Good prices on cookies and if you come here during Ramadan they have a bunch of things 50% off. Last year I got really good feta for $ 1.99/pound! The ready to eat foods are nice to pick up for a snack or a quick lunch.

Super Greenland gets one big extra star for donating their old veggies to charity! Other than that they have a solid selection and some very hard-to-find things at unreasonable prices with horrendous service. You’re pretty much stuck with Greenland if you want to do any type of real grocery shopping in Dearborn.

Oh yeah! I’m a big big fan of this place. It has a gigantic produce department that has everything from the everyday usual to fresh(non-dried) dates, figs, olives.etc. The deli counters are fantastic. The best baba ganoush I have ever had and the homemade garlic sauce… fuggedaboudit. They also have some really great pre-made meals to go. The falafel, and kibbies and lentil soups will have you craving more. Wacky Wednesdays are a madhouse, but the prices are great. It closes extremely early during Ramadon. Also, the food is Halal so no pork, no booze.

I love ethnic markets, especially ones that are busy, and offer a lot of ingredients to a local population. For me, this the next best thing to traveling to explore different cultures. They have a hot food counter, deli/cold food, olive bar, sushi(new) and of course, fruits, vegetables, dry/bulk goods, groceries, frozen, etc. I read other reviews, and I appreciated learning that their fruits are very inexpensive, but that they usually have a short shelf life after that. When I visited yesterday, I noticed that this is true especially if you are used to shopping to a Whole Foods or Plum Market. Their vegetables, including herbs, looked to be very fresh. I go there for the fresh juice(99 cents to 2.99)and their tiny spinach pies(50 cents each), but I always pick up middle east faves like tea, tahini, pomegranates. They also have Toum(1.99), that amazing white garlic paste that is served in tiny amounts at most restaurants. Ok, mostly I am obsessed with the hot bar and the little bit of everything you can try. If the person helping doesn’t speak much English, just point. If you are an impatient person, you might be overwhelmed. Their parking lot is pretty small and a challenge to navigate, but them’s the breaks. While you are in town, there’s plenty of bakeries and restaurants to visit! (best sushi in the area? Maybe in Dearborn!)

Ok, so I couldn’t tell you what grocery items one could buy here. I go for the SUSHI! There is a hot/cold food counter and sushi bar located in the back of the market. Ummm, honestly, I can’t even tell you what other food items are sold at the counter. The sushi is very good! I suggest a carry out as this market can be very crowded. The atmosphere isn’t at all conducive for dining although there are a few tables available. The chef regularly prepares pre-made rolls if you’re in a hurry or the sushi bar is closed. I usually wait for super fresh food. The menu is quite extensive — lots of variety to choose from and the prices can’t be beat. I usually get two rolls for right around $ 15, depending on what I order. I was sort of amazed to stumble upon this place. I would’ve never guessed to find great sushi at a Middle Eastern grocery store. I would venture to say that this place offers the best sushi I’ve had in the Detroit area.

Bizarre Foods Detroit episode continues to Super Greenland Market to try their raw kibbeh. Ordering back at the counter was a bit tough. There was a language barrier and we weren’t too sure if we were getting the correct meat. I asked for the raw kibbeh and received some blank stares. After speaking with a few people behind the counter and constant reassurance from them that yes, this is the one you can eat raw, we gambled. Well, I’m still here to write about it, so I guess it was the correct one. Thanks so the butchers. Having raw kibbeh takes a leap of faith, trust, and goes against your typical teachings of cooking meat. However, we eat carpaccio and don’t think twice about it, so what’s the difference? The members of my party did try it, I give them credit, but after a bit or so, it was enough for them. I can only palate so much of it as well, but what I had of it, it’s very good. If you’ve never tried it, I recommend it. It has the wonderful soft and mushy texture, but also grainy at the same time from the cracked wheat, mint, and other spices mixed with it. It has a lot of spices, not spicy, but spices. The spices and the wheat give it much more flavor than if it were by itself, but it really adds the extra layer of texture of not so much crunchy, but gritty-like. It’s better than it sounds, I promise. Ultimately, eating it raw is an experience. Also, part of the experience is watching how they convert this glob of ground meat into this presented dish with a whole new color from the spices. Watch them stir the meat, adding spices, stirring, adding, stirring, shaping, etc… You get the point. They are masters of their work. I would have given them four stars if it wasn’t for the language barrier that worried us all if we were really getting what we were asking for. On flavor, four stars, whole experience, three.

I stopped by for fresh fruits and veggies, Janis C. had me running over there at the mention of cheap in her recent review. I was in the area anyway and I love to multitask. I stayed for the rest of the stock. Service in here was hit and miss. The counter people were slow and not terribly friendly but the rest of the staff is very pleasant. I liked that it was pretty organized and that they carry some less common items. I must have come on a bad day though as I was subjected to every brat in Dearborn and their inattentive or overindulgent parents. Sigh. Not the stores fault but I left with a massive headache. Stocked up on citrus, avocadoes, lots of stuff from the olive bar, some bread and baked goods too of course. Took a bunch of homemade salads and hummus to go. Their rotisserie meats are good and made my life easier. They had good tea, not the stale I usually end up with when I deviate from my regular tea supplier, which made me happy. I will definitely be back. Next time I will not stop in already stuffed to the gills though.
