Great ambiance, delicious menu, and helpful local staff. Enjoy the outdoor patio and bar in back; be sure to notice the awesome ceiling décor as you enter through the front.

Haha, it’s painfully obvious none of the other reviewers had been to Walnut Hills, as this bar was previously called. The owners had a falling out, one kept the location, the other the name, and together they ruined the best bar in Dayton hands down. Owner #1(AKA idiot #1) moved down the street into a new soulless strip mall with all glass in the front. It had horrible ambiance for a bar and soon folded. The other owner(idiot #2) kept the location, but painted over all the awesome murals and hung up cheaply framed trashy looking Tina Turner posters instead. The crowd changed along with the environment. A lot more white trash hangs out here now. The beer selection was reduced as well. Fuck this place, it’s a generic carbon copy of the awesome bar that used to be here. Hope you petty assholes’ fight was over something good in order to ruin what was the best bar in town.

I only visited briefly, but the beer selection was great(Doppelbock and Summer Shandy on tap!) and the staff was super-friendly. The back deck is a great place to hang out and reminds me of so many bars in my native Arizona. And the private parking lot was a nice change from all the metered parking I had endured earlier in the afternoon in Cincy. I definitely will be back.

This was my first visit to the Cornerstone Bar. A group of four of us stopped by for lunch today(a Wednesday). We arrived at 11:30 and there weren’t many people in the place. But by noon business had picked up quite a bit. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. It definitely has a small tavern feel to it. The staff was friendly and we felt welcomed. We ordered the pasta chips appetizer(big enough to be a meal though) based on the positive reviews and they did not disappoint! I would go back for the pasta chips alone. They are like an Italian version of nachos. I ordered the«Cornerstone» sandwich(served with chips) as my meal. According to the menu the Cornerstone sandwich features: «tender sliced steak(or chicken), onions, tomato, cole slaw, and handcut fries on a toasted hoagie roll… yes the fries are on the sandwich.» The sandwich was very good, and unique. On top of that, it was $ 7.95! One of my co-workers had the Philly Cheesesteak and he had no complaints. Another co-worker had the cobb salad, and she noted its freshness. The fourth person had a big bowl of chili with cheese and onions, and he seemed happy. Overall, a great experience, and we will be back. It’s just a shame I live 40 minutes away because I would love to check out the place on a Friday or Saturday night.

Went for lunch today — a fairly slow Saturday afternoon. There were older couples, some families, a large group, some college aged guys, some middle aged women… a good mix. The bartender recommended the fried pasta chips — they were so good. I had a buffalo fried chicken salad, too. Nicely seasoned and fried — very light and not at all greasy. The bloody mary was good — and the service was great. The bartender kept the bar clean, filled water when he saw the glass was low, anticipated what we might need — much better than the chain places that will stare at your empty glass and ask if you need anything, trying to do as little work as possible — could it be this bartender actually likes people?!? Anyway, the décor is cool, the music is great, the service was spot on and the food and drinks were above average. I recommend it.

My first foray in to the bar scene here in Dayton, and I am just now getting around to writing about it? whats wrong with me ! I love this place, it as other reviewer’s have said just feels like home. Sometimes the service is slow, so who cares? I’ve seen the kitchen its the seize of most bathrooms. The food is prepared fresh all the time, nothing is pre-made here. And its all good. The pasta chips– are amazing I love pasta throw in some cream sauce, sausage, and roasted tomatoes = awesome ! The Wings: Are huge and so so good, I don’t know where they find these wings, but they are crunchy, and have just the right amount of sauce. They don’t serve food on Sundays, except for breakfast which is sort of odd but this bar has something that is rather unique. From what I have been told there used to be a bar on Brown street called Walnut hills. It was where Jimmie’s is now. The place was open for years, and used to always open at 5:30 for all the 3rd shift workers from NCR and Dayton Paper, and others to go to when they got off. On Fridays the bar closes at 2:30 or 3 depending. So what does a young college student like to do? I think its pretty obvious. A tradition here at UD to do once, or twice, or as many times as your liver can handle, it. I can’t say I’ve been brave enough to try

All summer long in Dayton and I just figure out about this quality, low-key bar! This bar mixes together a small UD crowd with other locals over a rock-n-roll jukebox and decorations that catch the eye. Adorning the ceiling are game boards from every game you’ve ever heard of(and more). I kind of wish they carried on that theme and had some old random board games available to check out, too! :-) We decided to explore, so after we got our drinks, we played two rounds of pool in a room all to ourselves! I can always appreciate when a good bar is not overcrowded. I was in a mixed drink mood so my drinks were a vodka cranberry and an amaretto sour. They were well made and tasty! Matt went the beer route and though I forget which ones he ordered, he noted that they had a nice selection on tap. Score 1 Jimmie’s Cornerstone Bar.

The beer’s cheap, the crowd’s friendly. Nothing ever changes. I come back home to Dayton maybe once or twice a year, and every time I come into Jimmie’s, the bartender recognizes me, and I almost always run into someone I know. Whatever the name, a real neighborhood place. My number one bar in Dayton.

This is a nonchain full service bar and eatery that makes you feel at home. Owned by Jimmie and Sue Brandell, you will feel like you are being entertained by great friends. The menu is huge and everything my family has tried has been a hit! Love it! Mixed drinks are great, extensive beer selection, but I haves checked out the wine list yet. Kitchen closes at 9:00 pm so arrive before then for the great food!
