I ordered the bistro burger and my partner had the wedge salad. Both were completely divine, beautiful dishes and I would reccommend this place to any foodie. Lunch is a bit business casual and dinner is a romantic scene. The service wasn’t fantastic but it didn’t matter because of the perfectly cooked food. Seriously incredible flavors. Loved it.

Definitely the best complimentary bread I’ve ever had, go ahead and ask for it with your drinks. Which I’d recommend their lemon drop martini. Menu and atmosphere is a little fancier, great place for a date or parents. But I love going with friends for drinks or apps! They are praised for their grilled cheese and tomato soup, tastes like a grown up version! During the day mostly business lunches going on. Closes a little early so check the time. Great patio!

During my visit to Dayton my friend wanted to go to Coco’s after hearing good things about the restaurant. We made reservations for a Friday night. The restaurant is a nice space, low light, calm décor. I liked the menu, some classic items as well as some more interesting fare. There are a couple of vegetarian items, such as vegan risotto and brown butter ravioli, but a majority of the entrees are protein based. My friend went with he classic steak and I ordered one of the specials, the stuffed manicotti. The entrees came with salad and we each ordered the caesar, the salads were standard-good. The manicotti came two ways, one with cheese and one with sausage. The portion was huge, and the dish was rich and filling. My friend quickly consumed his steak, noting it was cooked as ordered. I tried his sides of the masked potatoes and green beans that came with it, both standard good. We were both too full for dessert, but many of the options sounded like things to come back to try. Good atmosphere, service and meal.

First time came very well recommended. Had the Boleneges which had very little meat in it and so dry even though it was supposed to be in a sauce. Had a bottle of wine and when I poured my second glass there was a fruit fly swimming in it. Serves for what prices were was lacking. When you want to be waited on and Dined this place falls very short. My first and last time for this place.

A sigh and a shoulder shrug sum up this restaurant. The service started out rocky without a waiter coming to our table for over 10 minutes. This could be understandable if it were busy but there were only 2 other couples in the restaurant. Once we did get service, our waiter was super nice. He apologized for the wait and even threw in a free dessert for the mix up. They get an A for customer service. I wish I could be complimentary about the food but it was just so mediocre. There was nothing special or good about anything we ate. Maybe it was just an off night but I don’t think so. I probably won’t be back.

Coco’s is a nice place for things like business lunches. Business casual clothing works and most people in Dayton really love it. I usually go for one of their salads but people always seem to order the grilled cheese and tomato soup and absolutely rave about it.

I’m sure it’s fine for dinner, but whatever you do, do not have your wedding or any other event here. My friends had a lovely wedding and everything was going smoothly until it was time for dancing. At this point, the owner kept coming into the room and turning down the music so low that you couldn’t hear it above the noise of people’s conversation. When we told her that it was, you know, a *wedding*, she was contemptuous, saying that no one told her there would be dancing. This is dumb, for a couple of reasons. 1) It’s a wedding. You should assume people are going to want to dance. That is what people do at weddings. It’s like being surprised that someone wants to get married at a wedding. 2) They have a kick ass sound system in that room and they knew that we were DJing it. You shouldn’t have to explicitly tell an establishment that weddings will feature dancing. The establishment, if it has a rule against dancing — or against playing music loud enough so that there can be dancing — should tell people beforehand. As it stands, it left the distinct impression that they wanted to take my friend’s money but were afraid to fully disclose the limitations they were putting on party, out of fear that the couple would take their business elsewhere. So be forewarned. They want to get the money that you get off holding weddings, parties, and other events in the back room. But they want to be able to make the money off you without actually providing the full service that is usually implied when you say, for instance, that this will be a wedding with alcohol and music.(Which means dancing, which I refuse to believe someone would not somehow understand.) I recommend going somewhere else if you want to have parties where people can act like they are at a party.

Excellent dining experience. Had the fried brie based on Unilocal recommendations. It did not disappoint. Tried the honey balsamic dressing on the house salad. It was very tasty. The bread that accompanies it was beyond tasty. The ribeye was fantastic as well.

I’ve been here several times but my latest meal was worth rating. Their food is always fresh and well prepared. I am going to rave about their Char fish dish. It is out of this world! But dont wait because they change their menu based on freshness, availability and season.

We made reservations for 8pm — the earliest the restaurant could fit us in. Because we had been on the road all day, we wore our comfortable clothes, which were relatively nice, but not nice enough to suit the clothes patrons were wearing that evening. They had on business casual. I also didn’t realize it was restaurant week, when I chose this restaurant via Unilocal reviews. So we were pleasantly surprised. Thus, my parents and I all chose the restaurant week menu — app, entrée & dessert for $ 25. The salad — the spinach & house were both delicious. The spinach salad had candied pistachios and feta cheese with blueberry vinaigrette. The shrimp scampi was delicious. However, the ahi tuna — the side that comes with it was extremely salty. I could feel my tongue and lips shriveling up. After our dinner, we were pretty full so the tiny desserts were great. I preferred the crème brûlée to the chocolate cake as the cake was room temp and dry. The waitstaff were friendly. We would definitely come back!

My girlfriend and I went on Valentines day; not a good experience at all. This was the first restaurant we went to on our first date, and while that was enjoyable, we only had some apps and wine, and didn’t experience the full menu of the place. The service was as it usually is; not often seen, but there when needed. However the experience was far less than wonderful with the food. My steak was not cooked even close to what I ordered. I asked for medium-well, and it came juicy, bloody rare. I asked for it to be fixed, and I’m pretty sure they just put it under the heat lamps for a couple minutes and brought it back out; unacceptable when you’re paying $ 50+ a person for dinner. I just ate it after it was returned, and didn’t fight the service on it. My girlfriend barely ate her fish, as it was overcooked, chewy and rubbery. They comp’d us a desert, but we still left unsatisfied and rather frustrated. The drinks from the bar were ok, but didn’t make up for the horrible experience. To put the experience in perspective, we went to McDonalds the next day for lunch for the first time in years, and felt more satisfied. It was better at the old place…

We came here on a date night. Even though there are several not so great reviews, I usually take most of them with a grain of salt unless several focus on the same issue. We had a great experience here. Some reviews call the area sketchy. I didn’t see any abandoned buildings nearby or any indication it was unsafe. The interior décor has a simple elegance with the dark walls and upholstered chairs. We were seated near the windows that overlooked the outdoor patio area. I was initially impressed with the menu as it has many creative items. I chose the special of the night which included shrimp with two different types of sauces on a bed of two pancakes that had a corn bread taste. It was served with pickled vegetables. Even though I wasn’t a fan of the pancakes, it was an interesting addition to what would have otherwise been an ordinary dish. Our meals were prepared perfectly and appealing to the eyes. Presentation is as important to me as the taste. They have a decent wine selection and we had the 2011 Cote du Rhone and it was very good. We also had the chocolate curried tort for dessert. This was my husband’s pick. I am not normally a fan of dark chocolate because it tends to be too bitter. This was made from chocolate ganache and was perfect! I wanted more. Adding to our great experience was our server, Jess W. She was amazing! Very personable and respectful. Every time she approached the table she and we were engaged in a conversation, she said excuse me. I have never had a server do that before. One of my pet peeves is a server that does the disappearing act, hovers or is too intrusive. She made herself available just the right amount of time. Our food arrived with minimal wait. Overall, I would recommend Coco’s and I would return!

The décor is much better in this location! The food and service is impeccable as well… We started with the garlic scallops which are responsible for the missing star. For $ 17 there we’re only two of them. The bacon wrapping was undercooked, but the scallops were perfectly cooked. We had the salad and honey vinaigrette, which is my favorite out of all their dressing! The croutons are Chinese chow main noodles, and always have been because they work so well! We then had the Cabernet filet mignon. It was cooked perfectly. With great mashed potatoes and green beans I also loved the complementary warm focaccia bread and sage butter. Absolutely delicious!

I visit the bar area almost every Wednesday with friend(s) and the bar staff is always personable and friendly. They remember our drink preferences and all of the food selections I choose are very good. Good reasons to consistently return.

This place just fell short for me. I had high expectations reading the reviews but it just didn’t live up to it. I’m not sure who is working the kitchen but it has been a long time since I’ve had such salty food, namely the nachos. It was borderline intolerable. After having those I opted to play it safe and I ordered the steak. Although it was prepared as I asked it had some funky taste like it was marinated in something. It just ruined the steak and unfortunately was on par with the appetizers I had. The saving grace was the waitress who did a fantastic job and who recommended some excellent wine.

Great date night for the first time dining here! Ordered the Fried Brie for an appetizer and I’d definitely recommend it. It’s literally a pressed ball of brie, fried, and served with fancy, flat pieces of bread, and a serving knife. There was pesto and sundried tomatoes on the side as well. The shrimp scampi«ravioli» was spot on as other Unilocalers commented. I myself got the Creole Duck, and it was fantastic! Tender, tasty, succulent, with a coating of caramelized maple syrup around the edges. If I go back I’ll get it again. It came with jambalaya on the side which I thought was sweeter than it was spicy, still good, but not as great as the duck itself. Service was great too! $ 100 for three drinks, an appetizer, and two entrees, so be ready!

Food was good, I ordered the lamb and my friend the pork chop. The lamb was perfect. The pork chop was cooked«medium» but it looked a closer to medium rare. They offered to cook it longer, but not until after the waitress told us that was how they were cooked here in a tone to make you feel like a child. They do change the menu up regularly so there is always something new to try.

Terrific dining experience on a Monday evening before St. Patrick’s Day. The dining room is gorgeous — dark brown walls, high ceilings, very subdued but not somber; comfortable and relaxed, yet elegant. We shared a scallops appetizer, which was wrapped in bacon and accompanied by a homemade apple butter sauce and horseradish coleslaw; really liked the uniqueness of the apple butter and bacon/scallops combo. Our waitress was sweet and attentive without being obnoxiously overbearing. My main course was the filet in a cabernet reduction, done rare, a most delicious occurrence by itself. It was served over what was described as a rye bread pudding, but more closely resembling a soaked and toasted piece of rye bread. It was the perfect accompaniment to the steak. Lightly sauteed green beans and a horseradish-infused mashed potato side rounded out the meal. For dessert, an amazing chocolate ganache torte with peanut butter whip and a smear of salted carmel, plus a cup of coffee. Outstanding, can’t wait to come back!

We decided on this place for a team lunch and since I haven’t been here before I was really impressed. The décor is upscale and classic with white tablecloths even at lunch. Service is friendly and attentive without hovering. My co-worker had talked about the burger all morning so I had to get that which came with a side. I opted for the soup du jour which happened to be a creamy wild mushroom. It was outstanding with just the right amount of cream and wonderful earthiness from the mushrooms. The burger came out alone on a big plate and looked kind of sad without a side of fries but it didn’t matter. It was freaking amazing. The caramelized onions were sweet, the cheese sauce was amazing and the bun was soft but held up to the massive patty. Very impressed and I can’t wait to go back.

We had a friend in town from Cincinnati so we thought the best place in Dayton to impress her would be Cocos… man were we right. She loved it, we always do. It was her birthday so I arranged for flowers to be placed on the table before our arrival. She is also vegetarian/borderline vegan and they were more than happy to accommodate her in anyway if what they offered didn’t suit her. We didn’t need any special pampering, well any more than the usual. Michael greater us at the door and made us all feel like family. He is the best host anywhere. We happened to luck out with it being half off wine night. We started with a prosecco and then chose their Cab Franc. Both were amazing. For starters we ordered their hummus plate and the fried Brie. Amazing! We decided for dinner we would share the black bean vegan pasta and the portobello Parmesan. I will crave both of these dishes for life. Incredible! They have a really nice bar area that is separate from the dining area and they also have a great patio. This is a Dayton gem! Try it!!!
