Ray W Spore, DDS – Davis Medical Center

I have been a patient of Dr. Spore for about six years now, and these have been eventful years for my mouth. This is a small office with people who have worked together for years. The care is top notch, the service is friendly and caring, and you feel a part of the family. There are a number of ‘profit center’ dentists in Davis — you know, the kind of place that suggests this and that extra service (always without any guarantee of any kind); I started with one such dentist, over on Oak Street, and after leaving the first appointment, was presented with a list of items I ‘needed’ to the tune of $ 5,000 — forget that. I want a conservative but competent dentist who has good working relationships with other dental professionals as needed. I have been very impressed with Dr. Spore.

I just happened to stumble across Dr Spore’s dental office in the UC Davis Medical Center plaza on Anderson Rd because it was closer to me. Fortunately, Dr Spore and his employees were super friendly and incredibly patient. Overall, they undid the negative stigma of dentists from previous experiences elsewhere.
Firstly, they accept Delta Dental (i.e. UC SHIP), so that was my original plan: to optimize my health insurance. Booking an appointment was not too bad, about 2 weeks from when I stopped by. When I came in, the dental hygienist was very friendly and easygoing. However, you probably shouldn’t expect to be done in an hour for a cleaning; but perhaps that means they take better care of your teeth for you.
Came back for a filling done with Dr Spore and his assistant. Believe me, I’ve had terrible experiences of fillings done, but Dr Spore made sure I wasn’t in any pain (even without local anesthetic). Honestly, this was done in 30 – 45 minutes. Pretty quick.
Take home message: Fantastic people and service. I would definitely recommend them to others!
