This week we donated hurricane shutters, a large patio set, some framed art, lamps, and a file cabinet to Habitat for Humanity — but they refused our donation of an
HP
printer, spa bath salt/oil set, rugs, framed art, computer tote bag, etc. I didn’t mind because I know that Goodwill would take it and today we brought the stuff over to the store on State Road
84
!
In the past I’ve delivered carloads of clothes and household goods to this Goodwill
(
we cleaned out our garage and I literally had three carloads of stuff to give away). I hadn’t had a lot to donate of late, but I know that every little bit helps so I brought what I had to them today.
When you drive up to the door in the back of the building, nearly every time an employee will greet you and offer to help unload your car. What’s amazing is that when you peer inside the store it’s a
HOT
MESS
. I mean there are piles and mountains of everything and there’s barely a fire path in the large room. As hubby brought in the items, I filled out the donation receipt — with barely a place to stand.
But drive to the front of the store and it’s pristine — with racks of beautiful clothes neatly displayed. So while the back is a clearinghouse, the front is a lovely store! I understand that Goodwill moves the donated items to other places where the donations do the most good, and they arrange for trucks to take away the items that are no longer useful to anyone.
I haven’t shopped at this store but I’m enticed to do so — whether you go to the back door or the front, Goodwill is a great organization worthy of support. And besides giving charity at holiday time, it’s smart to donate to a

charity this month so you can use the donation as a

tax write-off in April! Everyone wins — and if you’re like us, it might also yield a more organized home!

This is a reallyyyyy small location. The woman who greeted me, though, is really sweet.
