First time coming here in awhile! Service has improved and the people working seemed nicer then ever. But this time the food wasn’t up to par. I got chicharrones sopes. Normally my favorite, the meat was so over cooked, hard and difficult to chew. The beans and toppings were great, but the meat was such a let down compared to before. Only reason I’m leaving 2 stars instead of 1 is because the service has improved so much.

This is hit or miss place sometimes it’s the best sometimes not so the best but in my opinion I would definitely try it out because when it’s good it’s good sorry about the vague review

Why did they take the carrot, zucchini and potato off of the vegetarian menu!!! So sad. Besides that pretty good.

Great burrito, not in the nicest area but the food makes up for it I guess. They have good chips & the Mexican drink is very good. Went twice in 1 week.

Pretty great Mexican food and environment. All of the food looked and tasted fresh and authentic. My burrito was absolutely delicious and plentiful, so be prepared to leave some room in your fridge for leftovers. The staff were nice and made sure to get my order correct. Pricing wasn’t too bad, either. My only gripe was that while I checked this place out on Cinco de Mayo(05/05/2016) and I expected a packed house, the production line for preparing the food seemed inefficient and could have been better organized/managed. Overall, this place is worth checking out.

Flavor was good. I got corn tortillas, should have ordered flour. While I was eating I saw several customers come in and order the burritos which were ginormous. Overall flavor was good. I would try it again, and order something else. Setup is a lot like chipotle. You get to choose how you want them to build it.

Ok, I had to try this place since it’s close to my home and i have read so many great reviews about it. I was so looking forward to having some great tacos… sadly I was somewhat disappointed. Not that the food was bad, just not as wonderful as I had hoped it would be. I had the beef and pork tacos although the beef was somewhat flavorful the pork taste old and without much flavor. My tortillas chips were burned and salty. Maybe it was an off day for this place I will give them another chance, since it’s not too far from home

First visit, might go back… their signature adobo pork/beef seems like mediocre-quality meat but the seasoning is spot on — not too spicy but full of flavor. My dad had a massive burrito, seems like everything was dripping some sort of sauce into the paper boats the food was served in. Don’t forget forks and lots of napkins! For me, the chips & guac didn’t hold a candle to Chipotle. I know, blasphemy! Location in a strip mall leaves a bit to be desired, but everybody ate their food so it must have been good!

Really great Mexican food. I don’t give 5 stars because they charged me regular prove for a beer that was in happy hour, it was $ 1.50 less but I think it might had been an accident. Other than that amazing food and personnel!

SOGOOD! I was surprised as to how authentic and true to its roots this restaurant is. Staff is very helpful and attentive, which was great since it was my first time there and a lot of my coworkers has questions about the menu. Didn’t have a chance to try the wheel but it looked so yummy! The guacamole is UH-mazing to say the least. Only tried the chicken and shrimp tacos but from the look of my coworkers faces. Everything else on the menu tasted great! I will forsure be returning to this hidden gem! Great food, attention, and inexpensive.

My husband and I had a hankering for some quick, cheap, and delicious Mexican and figured we’d give this place a go. What a good decision! I wasn’t too sure when I walked into the restaurant because it’s not in a nice looking complex… It’s sort of run down. And even the inside of the restaurant is kind of more on the gritty side. But my hubby checked the bathrooms and said they were decent… usually our routine to judge whether we’ll brave the food in a new joint that looks dubious(non-clean bathroom to me means low standards for handling the food hygenically in my opinion). Glad we did because the trompos tacos(beef and pork mixture) were excellent! Their corn tortillas were on point, not flaky or dry. And they had a delicious cheesy sauce to put on the tacos. Also, if you go on Friday, you can’t beat the meal with 4 mini trompos tacos with a drink and a side for $ 9 and some change. The half rice half pinto beans side is the way to go. Tasted like mofongo! Yummy! They also had tamarindo and horchata as drink choices. The horchata is DELISH! Precursor to eggnog in my opinion. If you don’t like cinnamon or are allergic to it… Don’t drink the horchata. And finally… that salsa Verde… mmmmm. I could write books about how fresh and tasty that salsa was. I’m a wimp, because the spicy was just too much for my tastebuds to handle, but the mild was sooo good. I put it on my side and the tacos! Either way… Great food! Super stoked to come back and try other selections from them.

I’ve had this place bookmarked for awhile and I finally made my way over to El Agave Azul. It definitely took me a minute to figure out the menu after walking up to the counter to order and I choose two tacos: carne asada and chicharon. The tortillas are warmed up and then the tacos are made right in front of you and toppings are added on the next counter. I couldn’t really see what toppings there were since half of them were covered up and the menu is out of view so I added some pico, cheese and verde salsa. SO. The tacos were soggy from all of the grease from the meat. Don’t get my wrong, the meat had awesome flavor but when it’s soaking in grease, it’s a little turn off. Guac and chips were good. I’d go back.

Not a fan of their food at all. I read Cassie G.‘s review since I was in the area and decided to give it a try– I am not happy about the food here. Their were a few patrons when I arrived, but everyone was sitting and eating. I took a minute looking over the menu and absorbing how everything worked. I ordered a special they were having that day– 6 small(very small) tacos– I didn’t finish one. I ordered each of a different meat. The guac tasted off. The beans and/or rice had a slight burned taste(I wasn’t sure which one it was). By the time I sat at my table, and picked up a messy little taco, they were all wet and soggy. The only detail salvaging this review from a 1 star is their customer service. Their employees are very, very nice people. They were patient with me deciding what I wanted and one of their employees– a very fair skinned, tall, young man with glasses– was exceptionally nice and polite. The concept has potential, but the tacos need work.

I’ll take any chance I get to try a new Mexican spot. Looking for a casual place to eat near Sawgrass, El Agave Azul was our best bet. The place was empty when we arrived and the pressure to order was on! The menu is pretty straightforward — pick whether you want a taco, burrito, sope, quesadilla or tostada, then your filling, then your toppings. I decided to go with a trompo(al pastor) sope and carne asada taco. I subliminally got my boyfriend to order the chicharron burrito which was a must try for me. Overall, the al pastor sope stole the show! I could have ate three of them and been a happy camper. The carne asada taco was good but you needed the toppings and salsa to really make an impact, while the trompo was dripping with flavor. We got a side of small guac to share. It was a bit heavy on the lime but paired with their amazing homemade tortilla chips, I was happy. The salsas were also good, my favorite being the spicy salsa verde which I ended up putting on everything. My boyfriend enjoyed the burrito. It’s a messy one so make sure you’re really comfortable with the person you’re dining with before ordering. Overall, I’m a fan! Dare I say it’s like an authentic Chipotle with more options and flavors. I wish the staff would’ve been just a tad more friendly in walking us through everything, especially after I mentioned it was our first time. I asked for recommendations and was kind of just given a blank stare.

I work in the Sawgrass area and El Agave Azul is the KING of the lunch options. To my crew(small pack of food nerds) it is known simply as «Tacos». This is partially because of the simple sign in in the simple shopping plaza that identifies this establishment but it is also because once we found this place we took all other taco places out of our lunch rotation. Everything I have ever ordered here has always been tasty. It is mostly made from scratch and it is always fresh. The staff is very friendly and happy to assist with their menu which is filled with authentic deliciousness. Some of my favorite tacos are the house specialty Trompo(Al Pastor)(Beef & Pork), and the Deshebrada en Salsa Verde(shredded Beef). On the lighter side they also have fantastic fish and shrimp tacos and even a few vegetarian options. Don’t forget to add the fresh tortilla chips & guac or their wonderful chicken soup(served with avocado and generous chunks of chicken). El Agave Azul continues to grow and improve with every visit and they have added more space, a slicker menu and even daily specials. They have also added a 2nd location in Davie and they seem ready for even more expansion. With all of this, the food has remained remarkably consistent and they have maintained their reasonable pricing. The only negative is that their following has given them a pretty intense lunch rush. Sometimes there is long wait to order your food and it is can be difficult to find a table for the whole crew.

Delicious authentic Mexican food at an awesome price! As soon as you enter make sure you’re on the far left of the counter thats where you’ll find the menu with pictures in case you want to see what you’re ordering before hand, there are daily specials available but you need to scan all the walls of the restaurant to find them(very confusing) Once you place your order its kind of an assembly line and they’ll ask you what you want to add or omit from your dish, the ordering process is pretty simple once you decide what you want. There FREE hot sauces on the right of checkout register ranging from mild to hot. On my last visit I ordered the Carne Asada Tacos fully load with added jalapeños, since I ordered one of the daily specials(after I checked in with Unilocal you can choose a special) I also received a side and a drink. I chose the chips(pico de gallo is extra) but was hooked up with some one the side. Taste wise, its pretty delicious… its good just not GREAT but I would definitely keep coming back.

Addicted. Totally, utterly, helplessly addicted to this place. I had first heard of El Agave Azul during the Unilocal Taco Fight promotion, but I never got the chance to visit until recently. I stopped in after work one Friday, and have found myself back here on a weekly basis ever since. This place is dangerously, conveniently located on my drive home from work. In fact, I routinely skip lunch on Fridays so I can have an excuse to come here afterward. I have very recently discovered sopes, and they are absolutely delicious here. My usual order now is a sope with their shredded beef, and a soft corn tortilla taco with ground beef. Depending on how hungry I am, I might get an extra sope or an extra taco… just depends on my mood. I like how you order at the counter and can watch them assemble your meal with fresh toppings. I always leave here full and very happy. They use quality ingredients, and it’s consistently good. The prices are very reasonable as well… I have yet to spend over $ 8 on a full meal here. I don’t know how healthy this new addiction is, but I’m powerless to resist the pull of this place.

When you check into Unilocal, you can order the daily special from any day during the week. I ordered the Friday special: tacos de trompo with one small side and a drink($ 7.99). My meal came with 5 small tacos with trompo meat(which is a combination of need and pork in their house marinade). I topped 3 of the tacos with all of the toppings. I topped the other 2 tacos as the original(which is cilantro, onion and lime). The meat was very flavorful. As my small side, I ordered tortilla chips. The tortilla chips were really fresh and weren’t overly salty. My boyfriend ordered the Sunday special: plate with small guacamole and a drink($ 10.99). He loaded his plate with yellow rice, refried beans, ½ trompo, ½ spicy pork and all of the toppings. The plate comes with 3 tortillas, either corn or flour. His bowl was huge. I probably should of ordered what he ordered — such a better deal. The guacamole was a nice size, big enough for 2 people to share. It wasn’t the best guacamole that I’ve had but it was still good. The one great thing about this place is the amount of different meats they have to offer. They have everything from carne asada to picadillo. If your indecisive about which meat you’d like to have as your meal, the offer samples. The employees are pretty helpful. If your not sure what you want to order, they are good with recommendations. In addition, they will tell you the specials.
