Massage Envy – Darien-Downers Grove

very nice facility and very clean! I saw Tina absolutely the most relaxing facial I have ever had !!

I had never visited a Massage Envy but was given a gift card for Christmas. I tried it and had the best massage in my life. Normally I would go to Mario Tricoci for my massages but have not been back in over a year because I love massage envy. My current massage therapist is Sharon and she is amazing. Absolutely amazing. Catering to my current problems and pains for each massage and adjusting accordingly. I could not be more pleased with Sharon or this place.

The manager Tina is the most unprofessional woman I have ever spoken with. She does not understand or value her customers at all. Look below people… I’m not the only one who this has happened to… BUYER BEWARE. If you sign up for anything esp memberships you will be stuck no matter what your excuse may be. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION!

The manager (I think her name is Tina) is the most ill-​mannered, unprofessional person I have ever spoken with in my entire life.

So Peter B of Massage Envy replied to my first review of the Darien-​Downers Grove location… I did mention in my first review that I was in the area for business for two days and that was the reason for me visiting the Darien-​Downers Grove location in the first place. (Sigh) I do know that there is a location in Schaumburg because that Massage Envy is my home location and a matter of fact they are wonderful! So is the Glen Ellyn location and the Bloomingdale location.
Jenna and Peter «investigated» what could possibly went wrong? I have a visible skin condition??? WHERE??? Please let me know where this visible skin condition was at. Especially since Peter was clearly in the room as I was getting my «massage» (If you could only see my facial expression as I said that) I had a bandaid on located on the back of my neck where I told her not to touch. That was it. Just a bandaid. If a bandaid prevented Jenna from doing the best she could then she must not me as «excellent» as Peter says.

I went to a massage envy in Naperville years ago and had a horrible experience and reached out to manager/​owner with no response back. I was a little weary about going to this location but the girls at the front desk immediately proved great customer service. I work on my feet all day and all parts of my body ache. I definitely wanted to start a membership because I knew i would be coming atleast 2 – 4 times a month. The therapist I had was professional but her hands started off very cold and clammy. I just couldn’t get into after that. There was no connection. I decided to sign up anyway because I was impressed by the customer service and figured I could try other therapists. On my second visit I received a highly recommended therapist. The massage was better than the first, but I noticed she cut a few mins off my time. 2 mins is 2 mins when your trying to relax! I will hopefully find the right therapist. I went on Unilocal to see if any names were recommended but didn’t see any. I will keep trying !

Ok! So the new owner of massage envy in Darien was wonderful and offered to have me come back in for a complimentary massage. I saw Sharon and she was WONDERFUL! She really listened to all of my needs and I felt great after. She applied just the right pressure, dimmed the lights as low as possible upon request, kept the temperature perfect and gave me all these useful tips AFTER the massage and staying silent during the treatment. I would certainly see her again and recommend her to anyone who is pretty picky about their massage. Thanks again Sharon! And congrats to the new owner on having excellent staff and customer service!

I filled out the cancellation form since I newly work in a spa.
I was disappointed when I got billed for an additional month. Apparently there is a follow-​up phone call when you cancel your membership. The woman who presented the form to me did not notify me of this. No detailed voicemail was left notifying me that there was a concern with my cancellation.
I feel unappreciated as a regular customer to be treated this way. The company as a whole has left a bad taste in my mouth and I will no longer refer friends and family

After my first not so great visit, the owner called me back and offered me a refund or a complimentary second visit with a different estetician.
I went back, the girl that did it was great (Ia).
Totally different experience from my first visit.
I would recommend her, she was a professional.

Online we requested a male for each appointment. Their agent called and said she could schedule us for an am appointment. She then told me I needed to put a deposit on the visit and that if I did not show or cancel I would be charged. Upon her informing me of this, I wanted to review my appointments to ensure it was what I ordered. When I stated so you have two males for our am appointments agent stated no. She then informed me that she only has females available in the am. If this was the case, why did she schedule my appointment to the point that I was giving my credit information. If you do not have the personnel requested why are you wasting the clients time.
Why not just state we do not have a male for am appointments. However, we do have two in the evening. Instead our request was blown off and we were going to be forced to receive them from females.
The owner contacted us and stated that this is not how we do business and that he would like to correct the issue.

I’ve had massages on both ends of the spectrum; from the cheap massage schools to the high end spas and everything from a boring Swedish to a painful trigger point massage. So I usually know what to expect and can easily explain what I’m looking for. This time it didn’t work out so easily. My therapist was very nice and did a very good job at the initial tension relief, the compression. But when she moved on to kneading she was massaging areas that were not tense and not painful, but uncomfortable. When I said my shoulders needed the most attention, I thought she would understand the area I was talking about; back of the neck, top of the shoulders, and between the shoulder blades. She tried focusing on the outside of my shoulder blades instead??? Then I said my forearms were very tense since I do a lot of typing. She was firmly massaging the inside of my elbow!!! I got annoyed and finally starting turning my arm so she would get the hint that it was not only painful and weird, but not an area where muscles typically tense up and need massage. After that she suddenly snapped out of it and started massaging «normal» muscles. After it was over I was expecting the sales pitch but she probably suspected I wasn’t interested. Actually I signed up at the front desk, but I will likely pick another therapist or at least tell her specifically what shoulder and arms means to me. I haven’t been to other locations so I can’t compare, but it was very clean and quiet.

A lot of people go here for massage (obviously). I go here for facials and only facials. The aesthetician, Ia, is AMAZING. She is honest and never condescending if she corrects your skin care routine. I’ve had plenty of facials at different places (city and suburbs) and have never been as happy as I am with Ia. Make an appointment. You’ll be happy you did.

Just had the best prenatal massage with reflexology from Cindy. She is awesome. She knows what she is doing & I left there feeling refreshed at 39 weeks pregnant.

Found a therapist I really liked there, but now that I am pregnant I have been unable to get a massage at this location. There are 2 therapists certified in pre-​natal and neither of them work evenings or weekends which make it difficult for this working gal to get a massage. This location is fine, but for working pregnant woman it is a bust and need to drive farther to another location.

All the therapists have been very good. They always ask what type of pessure you want and make sure you are fine with it throughout. They also make sure to ask you if you want a whole body massage or if you only want certain areas massaged. I always leave there relaxed and ready for a good nap. I became a member, since you get a better deal if you get more than one a month.

I’ve been a member at massage envy for over 6 years & I have been extremely pleased… this location is a very accommodating and I have left relaxed every time. Give them a try!
