A perfect place to watch the sunset. Plenty of park benches. Of course you can always bring a blanket and sit on the sand. It actually about a 3 – 5 minute walk from the parking lot. Could be longer if you stop to observe any of the local wildlife. The beware of alligators and snakes sign is no joke. We watched a little fella swim around when we were walking across the boardwalk. Fun to watch but made me realize I was in his house and needed to stay on the path.

How is it that I just recently learned that Daphne has an actual beach? It’s kind of hidden. You can get here by taking the walking trail from Village Point Park, or taking the boardwalks from Bay Front Park. There’s a large pier for fishing, or you can fish from the beach. There are usually people flying kites, playing frisbee, walking, and playing in the sand. The sand isn’t the pristine white Gulf of Mexico beach sand, but it’s not as dark as Cocoa Beach or Del Mar Beach either. This beach is on the murky waters of the Mobile Bay, so I don’t know that I would swim. I love gators, but I don’t care to be their lunch. There are no rules against swimming in it if you’re brave. It’s also pet friendly, but I don’t know that I would take Jazzy during the warmer months for the same reason. Today we saw a couple of guys para surfing, which looked like it would be a lot of fun. It was certainly fun to watch. I can see myself laying on this beach for a tan or sitting on one of the benches reading a good book while my boys fish. It’s nice to have a local beach 10 minutes from home for the days I don’t feel like driving down to the Gulf and competing with tourists for a spot in the sand.
