I live right near here and I don’t go. Today an employee selected this place for our lunch. It is very dated inside and the service was lacking. Sadly, my lasagna was pretty terrible. I never waste food, but I threw away two thirds of it. The prices are affordable, but certainly not when you’re throwing it away.

One of a few local-yocal spots my boyfriend and I hit up every now and again. The pizza is thin and crunchy, and always served pipping hot! The bar has a variety of beers on tap and a decent cocktail list. Service is always friendly, and a good place to unwind during the week.

I didn’t grow up in the north shore, went to this place with my boyfriend for drinks and appetizers. The bartenders were excellent and the food was delicious!!! Apparently they’ve been here for 61 years, I can understand why!

I grew up at this resteraunt went multiple times a week. My father and Sam were good friends. To this day this resteraunt is my favorite pizza ever! Service is outstanding and food is second to none. This is a well known place people come from All over MA and even New Hampshire for this pizza! It’s that good!

The fish chowder – only available on Fridays – is delicious! Full of fish, flavorful, and satisfying! And it really is the best thin-crust pizza!

Been to this restaurant for dinner many many times. Food has always been good. Their spaghetti with meat sauce is still one of the best spaghetti I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Sauce is good, pasta cooked to perfection, huge portion, at the right price. Bread is good. Beer is good. ;) Nice location, close to the water. Parking can be challenging. Real small parking lot… be careful going in and out… Their bar is nice too. Not too noisy, fresh popcorn, friendly bartenders. I would highly recommend that place.

I’ve lived my whole life on the north shore & never had eaten at Sam & Joes. After driving past for the 1000th time I decided to give it a go. Some places are better left alone. The only positive about our food was the bread. The pizza tastes like salty elios, the clams were nothing to write home about. Way to much batter & not enough clam. The cole slaw lacks any flavor. All in all a huge dinner of disappointment. We won’t ever return.

I went into this place for lunch, I had been in there a few years ago it seems like a decent place to grab a few bites and drinks. After looking over the menu, prices were a bit steep for my Liking I got the fish and chips 11 dollars not bad very good very fresh fish fries are awesome coleslaw was a bit on the sour side but what I didn’t like is paying $ 2.50 for a 16 oz Fountain soda I won’t be going back anytime soon

This place sucks. I have never waited so long for food and then when it finally came it was cold. And the waitress was the rudest person I’ve ever met and I’m pretty sure she was high on meth

the pizza is delicious here and the service was good. Went with a friend of mine and we sat at the bar later and had a couple of drinks and met some very friendly people. Atmosphere also is good.

Had lunch here with friends at the bar and Tony took good care of us… Yummy 5-cheese ravioli and lasagne. Home made sauce and fresh baked Italian bread. Friends raved about the chicken Parmesan and angle hair pasta. Too bad it will be a long while before I’m back in the area.

Pizza is delicious! Best pizza around! Was quoted a 15-minute wait, was sat in about ten. Many tables were open, but maybe they didn’t have enough servers on? Our server was really nice and prompt. She stayed on top of the refills and checked back often.

So I ordered a pizza to go tonight. I haven’t ordered a pizza from here in a long long time. Not very impressed. I wouldn’t recommend the BBQ Chicken Specialty Pizza. It was sweet and tangy and the sause was a peach color. Where was the BBQ sause? What I just tasted was completely wrong. I almost want to drive back and drop it off and then go to Rocco’s for a fresh pizza. Not happy!

Pros: I have yet to find a pizza, anywhere in the world, to top this one! Drinks are well made. Sam and joes special is the best thing ever created! Has the same feel it had 30 years ago, which makes it a «hole in the wall» great find Cons: price(waaaayyyyy too much for what it is) Parking(during a busy time) Any food that is not pizza(no one has ever enjoyed anything here to my knowledge but the pizza)

the entrees were delish, I got mussels fra diavolo(spaghetti) and my wife ordered a cheese pizza, our son ordered a hot dog with fries,(all of the entrees were awesome) our appetizer, the fried calamari, on the other hand was disgusting and bland– there wasn’t enough marinara or pepper & salt to make it taste good. And last but not least our waitress and hostess could have used an attitude adjustment and a smile. They looked like they would rather be dead than to make your experience at the restaurant a good one. We’ll order out next time and stick to the pizza.

Went for dinner tonite. I got scallops and artichokes over linguine, YUM!(except I wish they were SEA scallops instead of bay scallops — but I’m a bit of a scallop snob) Date got a pizza. Awesome ‘bar pizza’, thin crust, toppings all the way to the outside crust and, most impressive, sausage on the pizza was actual thick slices of italian sausage — not that sausage crumble garbage. Service was great, atmosphere relaxing, will definitely come back.

Sam and Joe’s manages to combine the best parts of a local Italian kind of place, with the quaintness associated with diners. For example when I asked to substitute something for my pasta(not an uncommon occurrence in this day and age) the waitress looked at me like I had three heads and started to think of reasons why I should just eat the high-density carbs. No thanks, but thanks for trying. When my dinner came, the food here wasn’t bad. It was tasty, not from a can, the chicken obviously hadn’t been marinating in all sorts of unholy things, and everything just tasted. tasty. Also there’s a bar. I didn’t go it. There seemed to be a lot of locals. So if that’s your gig and you’re in danvers, this may be the bar for you. It may not be, I mean I don’t know you and who the hell am I? but it seemed pretty cool is all I’m sayin’ Check it out.

Horrible food. There’s no craft or effort here. I don’t think there is more of a place on the North Shore in greater need of a restaurant makeover/intervention. The pizza is OK. It’s like a South Shore bar pie. But its way over priced. It’s a small for the price of a large. The buffalo chicken fingers were no better than from the freezer aisle of Market Basket and then rolled in cheap buffalo sauce. It’s hard to screw up buffalo chicken but these were just plain annoying. No effort or imagination at all. We also ordered potato skins. They were not at all like you would get from Uno’s. They were literally skins with the potato scooped out and all of the fixings on the side(I had asked for only the sour cream on the side). They only gave us the melted cheese and no sour cream or even bacon bits. Even if they had prepared them correctly it would have been nothing interesting. This was all take-out food. I have no idea if it’s better inside. I took a chance despite the bad reviews on here. They were spot on. Their claims of ‘best pizza’ did not live up to expectations. It seems like the draw here is the ‘old school’ atmosphere. Try it once to experience that or move on.
