God I LOVEDLOVEDLOVED this place. Their chicken teriyaki plate with salad and california rolls tasted AMAZING! The service was great, quick, and very nice. After Serramonte had renovations they disappeared. Anyone know where they went? I’ve been craving … I wish I was able to get one last meal from this place. =(

i’ve been coming here since they were located @ the wing where Burger King is now. then all these renovations began & they disappeared. what happened? where are you? i want some tempura & salmon skin maki!!! this WAS a place where you could grab a quick, affordable & tasty lunch. or dinner. their beef or chicken teriyaki & salad dressing were really good as well. the japanese places @ the stonestown & hillsdale food courts don’t come close to what sushi sushi was. i really hope they re-open right next to Great Khan’s. = {

I once had fond memories of cheap, big portions(especially the deep red tekka maki… mmmm) of sushi here, one summer when my sister and I found ourselves at Serramonte at least twice a week. Sadly, the anomaly of good sushi at a mall lives no longer. Where to start? The prices were much higher than I remembered($ 4.80 for tobiko???), and the food definitely not as fresh. The tekka maki has lost its luster over the years, as well as its redness — the sushi served to us at the«bar» seating area was more like a light pink. The udon, while plentiful, was overcooked, and underwhelmed by its tasteless broth. I’m sorry, people, I had to do it: I put soy sauce in my udon. The shrimp tempura was more like a piece of tasteless shrimp lost in mounds of tempura batter. And while at some places, that’s not the end of the world since tempura batter is pretty yummy, this batter was too thick, too crunchy, and too blech. I’m sorry, people, I had to do it: I peeled the tempura batter off my shrimp. They use fake crab in their California roll(big sign of blech), and while I didn’t personally taste the bf’s hamachi, I trust him when he says that it was fishy and not good. I’m sorry, people, I had to do it: I left sushi uneaten. Definitely will not be back, and definitely will tip my sister off that this place now lives up to the idea of bad sushi at the mall.
