With all things considered we enjoyed our visit here. The chicken batter was not as salty as I prefer but still good. The waffles are nice and crispy served with hot syrup. I would skip the biscuits cause its dry and not good. Servers are still new but nice.

Absolutely love this place. First time we came here it was during their grand opening so we had to wait about an hour and a half to get our food. We were super annoyed and frustrated that we didn’t want to eat anymore. However we stayed anyways. Food was good. We decided to give them a second chance and I’m glad we did because we love their food. This time around we only had to wait 15 minutes for our food which wasn’t too bad. Since then we’ve pretty much became a regular customer. Josh(with glasses) has great customer service!!! I love how we don’t have to order our food when we get there because he already knows what we want. Very nice and friendly! Must try their«sock it to me» cake!!! I would definitely recommend them to family and friends!!!

(3.5 stars) Man, it’s been a while since I went to the Home of Chicken and Waffles in Oakland, used to go there all the time but felt the quality went down over time. I was surprised to hear they opened a location in Daly City, and I was with my cousins who were craving some fried chicken southern goodness so we decided to give this place a shot. This location is located next to the BWW at Serramonte Mall. Came in past 9pm on a Tuesday night and it was not crowded at all, and we were seated immediately. Our server was really friendly and cracked jokes here and there to make us laugh. May I also comment on the awkward short tables for the booths? Anyhow, HoCaW has combos fit for everyone. I went with Keith’s Tackle: 2 chicken wings, mac ‘n cheese, and a waffle. The waffle tasted meh compared to the other location. The Oakland location cooks up fluffier waffles, this one was way thinner and was okay. The chicken wings were still good though and tasted awesome with the hot sauce as usual. The mac ‘n cheese was decently good also, but was pretty oily. My meal cost about $ 15 in total. Now that I write this review, I’m thinking of that chicken goodness again… but I can wait. The waffle needs improving, so please if you’re reading this, make ‘em fluffier! Bonus: They play throwbacks here! I love it.

I’m not a big fan of chicken to begin with, but I like to explore new places and like to try new things. A friend of ours posted on FB and my husband has been dying to try this spot out. I have respect for people who work in the food industry but when the servers do not reciprocate the same respect and do not give quality customer service, then I am completely turned off with the place overall. We walked in on a Monday around 1pm and there were not a lot of people. The«main» guy made us wait before we got seated — even though there were a bunch of empty tables. We waited for 10 minutes before they decided to seat us! Then we waited for another 10 minutes to put our order in. Already pissed at this point, I decide to at least try the food… after all, I waited this long! The food came it was ok. The chicken was cooked well, and the waffles were huge and tasty. I do like that they have a variety of food to chose from. I also had the turkey patties, which i’m not a fan of. It must’ve been frozen because when the middle was still cold when I had it. I’m not sure if i was turned off completely by the service, but i did not finish my food and i just had to leave. I haven’t been back since, but i really hope that the service has changed.

First time here… atmosphere was nice as was the friendly wait staff. Service was pretty quick too. But the reason for losing two stars was that the chicken breast was dry, as were the wings. The taste of the skin was good and it wasn’t greasy/oily, but the meat was dry. And if you come for chicken and waffles, you’d expect the chicken to stand out. However, the waffle was excellent! It was slightly crispy/crunchy on the outside, just how I like it! Add the fattening butter and syrup and it was heaven! I’d come here just for the waffles. I may try the chicken again just to see if I had a bad batch. If it turns out better I’ll certainly update my review. But for now, I can only give it three stars. Update: I added back a star simply because the business owner contacted me about my experience and original 3 star rating. And although she offered to comp my next meal it isn’t necessary. I will certainly come again, if for anything, because of the caring customer service shown to me. Thank you! I’ll be back! And I’ll update my review accordingly.

Let me start this review by saying I LOVE chicken and waffles… I came here needing a big cheat meal since its Friday and who doesn’t love a good wind down meal after a long week? This is my first time at the Daly City location and I’ve been to the one in Oakland and Walnut Creek. I would be so excited to go to Oakland or Walnut creek JUST because of the chicken and waffles. Now it’s in Daly City and I’m stoked. I ordered Paige’s Palette with a side of Mac and cheese and corn bread. Their menu is extensive and I was debating between this or Keith’s Tackle, which is also what I’ve ordered in the past. My issues: The southern chicken wings barely had any good meat on the bones and I felt like I was just chewing the skin, waffle was flat-thin like a pancake, my over hard egg was half an egg and should’ve asked them to discount the egg so I can cook my own whole egg at home and save the money, and the syrup was not thick nor sweet. I feel like I also got just two table spoons of syrup. I don’t remember feeling this disappointed from chicken and waffles! I don’t know if the kitchen just skimped me because I didn’t tip or something but I ordered to go and don’t tend to tip in these cases. It breaks my heart but I don’t know if I will come back here for more. Given the 25 minute wait for my food and the prices costing $ 20+ for my whole meal… I may seek to fulfill my chicken and waffle cravings elsewhere. The Mac and Cheese was ok, but I think I get more soul overall from the food at Boston Market or McDonalds.

Chicken and waffles. Mmm salty, sweet deliciousness. While I love visiting the Oakland location with a lovely post-dinner walk around Jack London Square, I am super happy I don’t have to drive across the bridge to visit this great restaurant any more! This location has some of the same faces certain dishes are named after painted on the walls which makes ordering super easy. I had the Waffle, wings, and macaroni aka«Keith’s Tackle Box.» It was comfort food heaven! Constructive criticism: the standard drip coffee I had tasted like it sat far too long on the warmer. Also, serve it with lots of sugar and creamer. I wouldn’t order coffee again unless I know it is freshly brewed. I ordered food to-go for my daughters. They enjoyed the chicken strips, grits, and waffle. Heads up: They CLOSELATE Fridays and Saturdays @4AM. Seriously. 4AM! Saturday and Sunday Brunch offers bottomless mimosas. Fried Chicken is everything. Fried chicken till 4AM on the weekends? I’m definitely coming back! They are still working out the kinks. Soon they will be as efficient as the Oakland location and when that happens, I will be happy to give more stars!

Wow ! This place was really delicious. By far the best wings and BBQ sause I have ever had. I’m honestly suprised it is not completely packed. I would suggest you go now before word gets out about this place !. Home of Chicken and Waffles and a very nice small hometown feel to it. It is not a big restaurant, but does have a bar with three big screen television. My friend and I first decided to give it a try because Buffalo Wind Wings at Serramonte was completely crowded and an hour wait. We wanted to catch the warriors game, so we walked into Home of Chicken and Waffles and we’re pleasantly surprised. We walked in and sat right down and had a great view of the game. The manager or possibility owner came over to us and explained the menu and gave us his recommendations. We went With tue Dales Choices which was Chicken wings smothered in gravy. They mainly focus on southern food like chicken wings, grits, and cornbread, but it was all amazing. It was so good we got another round. We were having so much fun there he even brought us another round of Chicken wings on the house. The price was cheaper the other restaurants and the food was amazing. It was a smaller place, but the waiters are much more friendly as they are not running all over the place. We even got to talk to our waiter about the Warriors, Ninners and Giants games. Overall this is a great place is your looking to go out with a few friends and watch the game

I had high hopes for this place. I wanted it to be the Stephen Curry of fried chicken, a slam dunk, if you will. Unfortunately, it was a little over average and not an all star. Something about extra dry and extra fried and not much flavor. Sorry to say but Popeye’s and KFC has more flavor. This place has some flavor but the chicken was warm and just too overfried. Maybe it was sitting for awhile before they have it to me since they were so busy. The Waffle was good but not amazing. The saddest part was their Mac and cheese. More like grease and cheese. Check out all that grease. Oh man, I couldn’t get through it. And dry and cold. Needs to be heated up. I hate dry hard cheese and grease. And for $ 20 something with tip and tax, yikes. I expect so much more for that price tag.

It was ok… I liked the décor(the mural, the lighting) We were seated fairly quickly, it was pretty empty this morning. The food came out and it looked great, but it wasn’t really hot(temperature) and the flavor was good but not fantastic. It’s saying something when my brother says the waffle tastes better than the chicken. I literally put hot sauce on everything beside the waffle lol

I’ve been to their other two locations but after eating here I was so disappointed . The portions of the chicken are tiny now, but the price is still high. The chicken breast seemed like a drum stick . Plus the chicken was super dry . Personally I don’t think it’s worth it for the prices.

3.5 stars The family-run Home of Chicken & Waffles have experience on their side, having owned & operated their Oakland & Walnut Creek locations for years. And because of this, even complicated orders are handled correctly & the staff knows the ropes even though they’ve just opened at Serramonte. Their waffles are sufficiently fluffy with a good amount of crispiness. I approve of whatever brand butter & syrup they serve! Now the chicken breasts — large & meaty — they lack flavoring in the breading; one of my dining partners called them«dry.» Loving their grits, appreciate their huge drink menu both alcoholic & non, looking forward to hittin them up during their late-night hours(open til 4am fri & sat, & til midnight other days except thurs when they’re open til 1am.) I’ve eaten here twice now & never seem to have room for dessert. Sweet potato pie & sock-it-to me-cake — I’m coming for ya.

I love fried chicken. I also love waffles. I also love fried chicken AND waffles when coexisting on the same plate as they do in various delicious southern/soul food joints I’ve been to, like Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles(one of my faves!)! According to the history of Home of Chicken and Waffles at the start of their menu, it used to be a franchise of Roscoe’s. I literally could not wait to try it after reading that little tidbit! Each entrée is named after someone in their family. Looking at the number items on the menu, it’s very, very extensive family. Trying to imagine how the food looks? Fear not! Just look at the wall and you’ll see portraits of each family member holding their namesake dish! Such a cute idea! I ordered the Incredible Kelly which includes 1 leg or thigh, grits, and 1 waffle. The thigh is definitely on the smaller side, but had a nice crispy exterior. The grits were a bit bland, but the waffle was really good! My friend ordered Mimi’s Potluck which came with 1 leg or thigh, mac & cheese, greens, and corn bread. I tried the mac & cheese and greens and enjoyed them! I thought the corn bread was just a little bit drier but still okay! Service is personable and great here and it definitely has that family-owned feel to it. It’s a bit pricey considering the small portions served but I’d definitely come again for try more of their food!

Delicious! Great food, service, drinks! I ordered Jason’s pick and it was the best combo for me of sweet and savory. My husband ordered Keith’s special and was licking his plate. Louisiana hot sauce is bomb. Check it out!

Not too bad. My friends and I came here because Buffalo Wild Wings was packed and we wanted to catch the Warriors game. It was pretty empty when we first arrived so it didn’t seem promising, but it quickly filled up after we were seated. I’m not the biggest fan of chicken and waffles(so far I’ve only liked 900 Grayson’s version of chicken and waffles) and I wasn’t too impressed with their samples I’ve tried at a Unilocal event, so I wasn’t expecting much. I went with Jessie’s party — drumettes and fries. Not bad — not too greasy, but the chicken could be more flavorful. My boyfriend enjoyed his fried chicken sandwich and my friend liked her mac and cheese and waffles. It took awhile for some friends’ food to come out although some people who ordered after us got their food first. Our server was attentive and gave a great effort even though he said he was a rookie. Waters were constantly refilled too. I liked that they have three large TVs in front of the bar. I probably wouldn’t return but Home of Chicken and Waffles is a decent choice.

My boyfriend and I had decided to come out after we searched the web to find a place that even sounded appetizing. Little did we know that a chicken and waffle restaurant JUST opened at Serramonte. We decide to check it out(we definitely called first just to make sure we weren’t kidding ourselves.) But when we got there, we automatically sensed that the place was backed up. From what we saw, there were all these tables being waited on by two waitresses(one was also hosting for the night), a server assistant walking around, and one person working the line outside the main kitchen doors. We sat down at a two-top and the server assistant was kind enough to serve us some waters a few minutes after we sat down. We could tell that the server/hostess was our server because it took a while for her to touch our table. After scanning the menu and figuring out what we wanted, it took a little more time before she finally came by and introduced herself. She walked over a little out of breath and was very apologetic about the wait. We then found out that she was the manager from Walnut Creek’s location and she would be around the Daly City location to help train staff and get service up to par. We told her we completely understand and were not bothered by the wait. We ordered the wings, without buffalo sauce, sub gravy, the Lord BJ, split, and we got a couple pieces of cornbread. The wings were delicious. We were glad they were cooked all the way through(a recent experience at BJ’s had us very concerned about the done-ness of wings/chicken) but that was actually the first time we had wings with gravy and it was definitely spot on. Our manager/waitress/hostess came by to check in on us and we told her how much we liked the food. She told us that the guy working the line is also a manager from Walnut Creek and he’s been working on the food tonight.(absolutely delicious.) We got the cornbread and the Lord BJ afterwards and there was SO. MUCH. FOOD. Definitely could not have finished two wings with a waffle. but at least I tried. The chicken was delicious. The waffle was nice and fluffy. The cornbread… was not the best. I actually couldn’t finish it because it was pretty dry. As we went from enjoying our food to struggling to finish the remaining bits and pieces, we decided to give up and get our check. There was another rush of people coming in while the servers were working on getting all the seated guests all checked out so they could leave. but after that fiasco, we paid and gave them a very modest tip. After we had walked out the doors and crossed the street, we turn around to the sound of our names being called. our waitress was yelling across the street thanking us for coming by and was very appreciative. We will definitely come back and see how this place develops over time. all they need is people to work, but that manager was definitely one of the sweetest people I have ever met. We would totally go all the way out to Walnut Creek to visit her.

The home of chicken and waffles, it’s always exciting to see a new places to eat open up in this area. What’s even more exciting is the fact that it has late night hours and offers a contrast in options when compared to other nightly food locations like: lucky chances, Denny’s or you’re typical fast food chain. The home of chicken and waffles has a few locations in the Bay Area. There’s one in walnut creek and jack London in Oakland. They previously had a soft opening a few weeks ago and when my wife and I arrived it had been officially open for a few days. The décor was very similar to their other locations. Soft lighting, booth style seats, and a huge mural on the main wall showing historical figures in history. I must say I was pleased to see a full staff of young people there, energetic and working hard to make sure everyone was happy. Things like checking up on tables, staying attentive to customers, making sure people’s orders were correct. Things like this go along way in bringing customers back. But sometimes having a younger staff isn’t always so great cause it can come with a few headaches such as slower table service or delayed food orders. Although some things were the same there were others that were not. Mainly the some of the food, or at least what we ordered that day. The food usually is great and has a real soul food touch, So I was a little disappointed when the food didn’t live up to the other locations that I’ve eaten at. I ordered the Lil John(which comes with 3 pieces of chicken and I picked the side of smothered potatoes in gravy.) My wife ordered the Gordon’s bank(which was two orders of chicken breast and a side of candied yams.) We love Mac and cheese so she ordered that on the side as well for both of us. Although the chicken was cooked well, juicy and had a great crunch on it. The sides were lacking to say the least. The Mac and cheese portions were small and felt like it was baked boxed Mac and cheese. The kind you’d find at the grocery store. The Candied yams unfortunately looked like candied mashed potatoes. Whoever They partially lived up to the name though, as the yams were very sweet. Almost too sweet to eat. In fact my wife and I just couldn’t finish it cause it was much to sweet after just a few bites. But the smothered mashed potatoes had really good potential. The gravy was tasty and had tons of flavor. But when you put way more gravy and have a lack actual potatoes, it can feel like you were let down. I did appreciate the sweet and savory aspects of the meals and I’m excited to see what could potential come of this place once they get the bugs worked out. I feel great about the opportunity this place has to really become a staple in this area.

The Home of Chicken and Waffles in Walnur Creek has left a bad impression on me before so I was very hesitant to go here but I was hungry and wanted a mix of breakfast and lunch. Kung Fu Tacos used to be at this spot but Home of Chicken and Waffles has taken over and I think they’ll be here for a long time. It was 1PM, on a Wednesday, so it wasn’t busy when we stopped by. When my boyfriend and I stepped inside, we were greeted by the manager and were told to sit down on the bench to wait until they were ready to seat us. We didn’t wait too long and were seated near the window, I noticed almost all the seats were filled and there was one server, one busser, a cook and the manager so overall a slow pace at the moment which is great overall. SERVICE: Our server was Laloni, very nice and sweet and I loved her cotton candy pink hair. She checked on us a lot and helped us on ordering. FOOD: I ordered their Incredible Kelly($ 11.25): 1 waffle, thigh or leg and grits. — I subbed the grits with Mac n cheese(+$ 1) //Mmm mmm mmm! Waffle was perfectly fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside, perfectly golden brown. //The thigh I ordered was delicious, not overly salty and the outside was super crunchy, it had enough meat on it too. //Mac n cheese was delicious too, had lots of flavor. Their walnut creek location left me a bad impression on their Mac n cheese, it was dry and flavorless. This locations Mac n cheese was cheesy, flavorful and moist, just perfect ! Now, does this place beat the infamous Roscoes? Just almost, for me. The guy who made our food definitely did a great job, he made everything delicious ! I wish walnut creek could do the same since it’s closer to me but this place has definitely made its way to a permanent bookmark to my Unilocal. If you’re looking to check this place out, I suggest coming here on a weekday during school/work hours(when they open-2PM) so you don’t have to expect a long wait and won’t be hangry.

Was it just an off day for them or what? My friend Coco and I came here for lunch around 120pm today since we were super excited that a chicken and waffles place opened at the mall. This new place took over where Kung Fu Tacos used to be, right next to Starbucks on the outside. Since it’s at the mall, parking is available all over so don’t fret over that. Coming in, we were immediately greeted by a guy and he sat us down very quickly. Unfortunately, that’s where speed ends. From the time it took to looking at the menus to ordering to getting our water to actually receiving our food and then getting our check took way too long. The place didn’t even seem that busy. Granted, there was only 2 servers working, but still! It was ridiculous having to wait so long especially when it came time to pay and leave. My friend and I both got Jessie’s Party with drummettes although she opted for their waffle and I got their fries instead. They have a lunch menu for weekdays from 11−3pm so what was originally $ 11.95 was $ 8.95 for lunch which was good. The food came and it looked good. It smelled good, too, and their portions are generous. But honestly speaking, their chicken was hot and crispy and their fries were seasoned well, but I didn’t think it was the bomb dot com. It tasted pretty average to me. My friend enjoyed her waffle and the chicken, but we both agreed that it was okay at best. I dunno. I’m down to come back and try something else, but I’m not in a hurry to do that so we’ll see what happens. Service really needs some help ’cause keeping your customers waiting is not cool, yo.

Finally another late night option to DINEIN besides Lucky Chances and Denny’s. Juiced that Daly City now has a legit chicken & waffle spot. We usually go to Millbrae Pancake House for chicken and waffles where the food AND service are equally amazing but wait-times are LENGTHY. DCHCW provides us the opposite — good food paired with lackluster service and high turnover for a table. In fairness, the friendly /forgetful staff are always courteous /apologetic and constantly refill waters. SOFT /GRAND OPENING: Dry run occurred Sunday, Sept 27, 2015, by RSVP only, with entrees compliments of the house. Grand opening was on the week of Oct 5, 2015 so staff are still getting into the groove of things and learning how to work well as a TEAM. SEATING: Dining room has several booths and tables to offer ample seating. With each off-peak visit, we’ve had no problems getting seated immediately upon entering. Came once during dinner rush and had a modest 10 min wait after putting our name on the list. You can call to confirm wait times before you strike thru: 650−993−8525. LOCATION: HCW, previously home to Kung Fu Tacos, is on the northeast side of the mall in between JCPenny and Starbucks, next door to Subway. PARKING: Easier to find a spot as you get closer to JCP and further away from Macy’s. BUSINESSHOURS: Daly City’s operational hours are consistent with their Jack London & Walnut Creek locations: Mon — Wed: 10am — 12am Thur: 10am — 1am Fri — Sat: 10am — 4am! Sun: 9am — 12am GAMEDAY: Great place to catch your favorite teams on the enormous screens mounted across the length of the bar. Currently only beer and wine served, plans for a full bar is pending approval of their liquor license. METHODSOFPAYMENT: Cash, Visa, MasterCard, and even Amex are accepted. MENU: The food didn’t disappoint and portions are generous enough to have leftovers. Sticky, buttery candied yams. Tender greens. Gooey mac & cheese. Nice heat to the buffalo wings. Flavorful, juicy fried chicken on the bone and boneless strips. Family-friendly kids menu. Highlight: The chef sent over a thin golden waffle for each of us, made to perfection. Lots of little nooks and crannies to catch the whipped butter and warm maple syrup with a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg. Not too dark and overly crisp, not too light and soggily undercooked, it was just right — Goldilocks would approve. SERVICE: This place is a good alternative if you can bear the HELLASLOW service. It takes HCW’s a while to get the gears in motion, a bit excruciating to watch how long it takes the crew to execute orders from kitchen to table. Understandable during its infancy but upon our last visit(early evening, midweek), it took us longer to receive our to-go boxes and bill than it did to finish our entire meal. Staff are super friendly and accommodating but lack communication amongst one another. This disconnect often leads to a classic«Who’s on first, What’s on second» and lots of scrambling in between. This can either be humorous or frustrating, depending on how hangry you are at the moment. The food remains consistently solid. We continue to return to appease my Wing King husband’s frequent hankering, hopeful that each occurrence will be more expeditious than the last… but no such luck yet. In any event, we love supporting family owned and operated businesses so I’m hopeful for the day when HCW works the kinks out of their newest location. Welcome to Daly City!
