The food is definitely great! It’s Basically a more«upscale» Filipina/o restaurant. The beer towers are cool the food and service is good, but the price is not hot. It’s definitely more costly for food I could probably get for a fraction of the price less someone else. But hey, I’m still glad this place exist. A nice atmosphere to sit.

another review removed heres the second take. 2 stars, I ate here maybe the 3 week they opened so that being sed sad to say but I am surprized this place stayed open as long as they did. I’ve been to the other branch of this restuarant in Union City, over there everything was good, here from what I can remember the food was not that good, service i do remember was apalling, there was no seats inside so we chose to eat outside, in true daly city fashion it was foggy like always but the heated lamps helped to stop the cold breeze we ordered several things maybe 4 – 5 items for 3 people al la carte, don’t know what it was about this place just seemed nothing flowed well. food not good most of it was over indulged in sauces, space was tight especially by the bar area no room to move, waiting area and seating areas were small and narrow, outside seating had more room but if you live in daly city you know this place gets cold and is almost 80% foggy, when we were here our waiter it seemed kept disappearing, never got our waters, food again was not like i remembered it like at the Union City location seemed they tried to focus on too many things at this location two things they forgot to focus on was their customers and the food. food ** service *** at the time they opened service was not yet as bad as it was when it closed price $$ depends on items ordered ambiance * too narrow, stuffy inside, bar next to the window not a good idea if folks need to get to their tables and are leaning on the window with their drinks in hand

I first heard of this place from my boyfriend’s mom. She wanted to come but me and my boyfriend ended up coming here first. I’m not a big fan of eating at Filipino restaurants just because I love my momma’s cooking. Anyways, we got their grilled squid which is what they’re known for. It was pretty good so every time i come here I usually get it. We also got their pork sisig which was alright probably because I’m not a big fan of sisig either. I just hate how it takes forever for our food to be served. It’s pretty much a good location cause it is Daly City where all the filipinos live.

Being Filipino, I’m kinda glad that there is now a Filipino restaurant in Westlake Mall Daly City. The food’s okay, nothing really that stands out but it’s great to have a group meet and hang out for comfort food and drinks. I had their Batchoy noodle soup, which is one of my fave noodle dish growing up in the Philippines. It’s alright and I’m glad that there is a place to go for Batchoy whenever I get the craving for it. I would recommend this restaurant to those who happens to be in the area and would like to celebrate happy hour like on a Friday.

Man oh man. I first heard about this place because I heard their pork sisig was off the heezy. The first time I went there, I was stupid to not look up their hours because when we got there, they just closed their doors and I was left with a craving that was unfulfilled. So here we go again, this time we came with my parents and we ordered up a storm. Now please understand, I did NOT order what I originally came here for, the precious pork sisig. I just came from a spin class and I wanted to maintain my caloric intake. Ha, who was I trying to fool?! So anyways, we ordered the pork liempo, the bangus sisig, the grilled tuna head, miki bihon and the fried chicken. This was definitely not a menu for the health concious, but I was the one who ordered the fish dishes, so I did my part!!! As soon as the food came, we tore into all the dishes and I didn’t even get to the miki bihon because I was too engrossed in my tuna head and the pork liempo. Damn that meat was hella good!!! The tuna head was oh so tender and delectable. The bangus sisig was alright. And not because it wasn’t good, but come on now, if you’re gonna go sisig, get the damn pork!!! I tried a little chicken wing and and it was good; they seasoned it with some sort of MSG shake and bake. LOL. It was good. So at the end, I was very satisfied and so was my familia. And no, we didn’t order dessert. It crossed my mind, but I think we did enough damage and I think I just evened out my spin class caloric burn. My mom paid the bill(gotta love the grandmas who pay to spend time with their children!) and I took a look at it and it was $ 79. Not bad for all them dishes! Next time, PORK sisig, here I come to get cha!!!

The Pros: * The chicken my friend had was really good(I should have ordered that). And their fries are plenty and decent. The Cons: * Very slow service * Overpriced beer(and some food!) * Condiments given one at a time(like over a 5min period!) in little cups! * The most bland Mahi Mahi I have ever had in my life! * The 10+ min it took to get the check(there were like 4 people eating there — what gives?!) * The fact my I left feeling full because I shared my friends meal… You do the math — if this is what you like, go for it. I have had really good filipino food in the past — Gerry’s aint it!

Rarely do I give a restaurant 2 stars, but Gerry’s Grill, sadly deserves it. I’ll give them a 2.5 because the servers did a good job attending to the very large party I was a part of. The dishes almost came out one by one, which was at first weird, but to some degree made sense because there was no room on the makeshift banquet tables. We were squished as is. We ordered A LOT of dishes, so here’s what stands out and/or noteworthy in reviewing a Filipino restaurant: — Lumpia was listed as egg rolls, so I was expecting regular lumpia(short and stuffed w/meat and veggies), however, what came to the table were a hybrid of regular lumpia and shanghai lumpia. The sauce that accompanied them was a boring sweet and sour. I wished they provided the traditional vinegar/patis/garlic/salt and pepper sauce because it would have complimented the lumpias better. I had to settle with pouring vinegar over my lumpia. I’ve definitely had better! — Chicken Sisig was very different, so I was excited. I shouldn’t have set my sights too high because it was a HUGE disappointment! First off, it was too salty and seasoned with way too much black pepper. The diced onions and jalapenos weren’t even very present in the dish because it was over seasoned with the aforementioned.(Even as a late night snack after drinking it wasn’t good.) — Crispy Pata is one dish I did enjoy. You can’t really go wrong with deep fried pig… epecially enjoyable because it came with lechon sauce. — Beef Caldareda is one of my all-time favorite Filipino dishes. I’ll give it up to Gerry’s…they did it right. Was probably the most enjoyable dish out of the bunch. Beef and veggies were tender and sauce was not overly tomato paste-like…good consistency. — Pancit Canton was salty! I don’t usually like pancit canton because it does have a tendency to be salty, but this was beyond I’ve ever had. Not very memorable, and should have suggested pancit bihon instead. Other dishes were either not memorable or too salty, or to be honest a little bit of both. Though I bashed on most of the food, I do have to commend the servers and the cooks for accommodating a large party(over 30) — friendly, helpful service and food came out relatively quickly. Oh, and two thumbs up for the beer towers(but totally an afterthought).

I’ve been here twice. The first time I went with a group and the second time I ordered to go. Considering that groups are harder to accommodate, I think the service was ok. We ordered a variety of great dishes that reminded me of home cooking. We also ordered a beer tower. It initially seemed intimidating, but with a group it went fast. My family came up for Christmas, so I ordered pancit from here. The food was ready at the pickup time and my family loved the pancit. I really like that Gerry’s Grill has good food, is clean, and prompt with their catering.

It really kills me to give a 2STAR review; mainly for the service, but the food here is overpriced, flavorless, and taste likes it’s made from a bag of frozen food. My dad suggested Gerry’s Grill for our Thanksgiving lunch. I was quite excited as I rarely get a chance to eat Filipino food. I was hungover that day and normally everything taste good to me. But, on this day, the food here was hardly edible except for the calamari(doused with sauce) and steamed rice. Not a good sign… FOOD: *Nilagang Bulalo(Beef Shank Soup — $ 10.99): Not good! The soup tasted like it was made from a packaged soup base. It was very SALTY and had no depth of flavor from the beef. I expected the beef to be tender and to fall off the bone if it was in fact simmered in the broth. But, it was chewy, and had no flavor. There were HUGE chunks of palm-sized cabbage in the soup which made it difficult to eat. *Calamares($ 9.99): This was probably the best dish b/c the char marks from the grill gave the calamari some flavor, but not much. I had to drench the it in the vinegar soy sauce to eat it, and I rarely use soy sauce unless it’s with sushi. Ummm, I don’t get why they don’t cut the calamari all the way? They cut it 90% through and give you a knife to cut off piece by piece. When it’s not tender, it makes it very difficult to cut and eat. *Beef Kare-Kare($ 12.99): This is normally my go to dish when I eat Filipino food, but Gerry’s Grill’s version killed it for me. It was plain awful. The sauce was watery and tasteless; perhaps they forgot the peanut butter? The string beans were undercooked and the beef was stringy and not tender. Just like the beef from the soup it was flavorless. Thank goodness they provided shrimp paste which I has to douse all over just to eat it. *Crab Fried Rice($ 6.99): Again, NO flavor b/c they forgot the soy sauce? There were very few shreds of crab and I could have done a better job at home; just give me rice, eggs, and frozen peas which exactly what it was. *Chopsuey w/Shrimp($ 8.99): Why, oh, why did my dad order this??? It was inedible. The veggies were unevenly cooked; with the cauliflower and broccoli undercooked and the carrot, snap peas, carrots overcooked. The shrimp tasted like frozen shrimp from a bag that was thrown in the mix. The gravy was horrendous, it looked and tasted like pastey cornstarch. *Ice tea: I think they forgot to dilute the ice tea concentrate with water. It was super strong and sweet. So, I had to poor half of my glass of water to dilute it. SERVICE: The servers are very very nice which is why they’re getting 2 stars. But, service is SLLLLOOOW. We were the second group to arrive and the first group had already received their food by the time we ordered. And, it still took about 15 – 20 min to get our first dish. I can’t imagine how long the wait would be on a normal day when it’s more crowded. Would I return? Certainly not by choice. Although I have a hint of Filipino in me(from my dad), I’m by NO means an expert in Filipino food, but I rather go to Manila Bay Cuisine which should give you an indication of how I feel about the food at Gerry’s Grill. SAD!

More like 3 ½ stars. However I’m going back. Why? Check it… I actually haven’t had any problems with the service, although I haven’t gone during peak hours. The food isn’t as good as the one over at Union City, but it’s not bad either. Trust me, there’ve been some whacked ass pinoy restaurants that I’ve been to, so G Grill is far from that. Sisig and Calamari are the best things I’ve had here, and I plan on trying other items when I hit it up here. On a side note, especially if you’re pinoy, I recommend running or doing some heavy exercises for 30 minutes to an hour after going to a place like Gerry’s Grill. The fat and cholesterol content has the potential to send you to the emergency room, so just keep that in mind. If not, well, I tried to warn you…

The food was better than I thought it would be. One of the good things is that the place looks clean. A downside is the price. I don’t think good Filipino food should cost that much. Service was okay. Definitely doesn’t match the fancy environment they try to create. I don’t regret going, but I probably won’t go back.

I’ll start off with saying that Gerry’s Grill is not all bad. It has its good points, but not much. I’ll start with the good, since it has very little. The service. The first time I went there, we were seated pretty fast. It was at night time around their grand opening. Surprisingly enough, there wasn’t that many people seated there. Our server was pretty good — he was kind and even held a bit of conversation for us. The only bad point in that time was how slow it takes for them to serve you after you sit down. But the customer/server interaction compensates for it. The second time I went, weeks after the grand opening, we were also seated fairly fast(I suppose if you have a small group, less than 4, you get immediate seating, I have noticed). This time the timing is faster, and the server is still kind. So it seems they get better over time? Crispy halo-halo is a must if you decide to try it. I haven’t experienced one before in any other filipino restaurants. The average: Chopsuey: It was okay, far better than what I’ve had before. However, I wouldn’t rate it as a «must». The only think I didn’t like in that chopsuey had to be the liver they added into it. Everything else is good — so if you want to eat more vegetables than meat, get chopsuey. Garlic rice: I find it overpriced, and I have had better. Sago gulaman: I actually ordered regular gulaman, but they gave me this instead. I didn’t mind, but after drinking this, I found it better than my first experience with their version of mais con hielo. The bad: Pork liempo: slightly burnt, and I found it difficult to eat. Mais con hielo. Too watery. I found that it tasted too much like water with a bit of skim milk thrown in. At least, that’s what it tasted like. Pork sisig: I like sisig, it’s one of my favorite dishes. To me, the perfect one is supposed to taste slightly salty yet spicy mixed in. So when I go to Philippines, sisig is one of the things I wait for since they make it how I think it should be made. However, when I went to Gerry’s Grill, I was sadly disappointed. It was not spicy — at all. Not even a hint. It had that nice skillet thing going for it, and it was served hot and crackling… but it tasted so bland. Overall, the place is average to me. I believe if you want to save some money and want something heavy to eat with an average group of people to share amongst you, you could try Gerry’s Grill. One order can be divided to 2 – 4 people, I feel. The two times I went there, we ended up having to-go boxes to take home since we can’t finish it all.

Friday night and trying to think of a place for us to eat. We weren’t craving anything particular. My friend mentioned to me that he went to this new Filipino spot in Daly City that I had to try it. Now I’ve never been a huge fan of Filipino food but I was up to try it. We get there around 8 pm and they are packed and had several people waiting. We decided to have a beer at the counter while we wait. 1 beer led to 3 or 4 i lost count haha but we got to talking with the owners and they are great and very personable. They let me know that Gerry’s Grill is a huge chain from the Philippines. As we where talking 2 spaces at the counter open up so we decide to sit at the counter instead of waiting for a table. One of the owners let us know the lumpia was great and hand rolled daily so we ordered that, along with the grilled squid, GFC(Gerry’s Fried Chicken) and crab fried rice. The lumpia was awesome crispy and not oily very tasty. The fried chicken came next and again it was not oily and had great flavor. Something you gotta try. The best dish had to be the grilled squid. Had fresh off the grill taste in a sweet marinade with just the right texture. The rice was good but was a bit light on flavor. If you are looking for something new with a fun atmosphere check them out. Service is great and you won’t be disappointed.

This was my first time coming to Gerry’s Grill. I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about this place and people raving about it. They DON’T take reservations, which kind of sucks. We had a a big group, but we got seated quickly. We ended up ordering some Pata dish, which was really good. The meat was nice and tender. The Grilled squid was ok, not much flavor since it just tasted like squid roasted on a grill. The Palabok i enjoyed. It was my first time trying palabok with the thick noodles, but it was still good. We also ordered a shredded meat dish, but it comes on a sizzling hot plate, that was really good. I enjoyed the food, but you know it’ll kill ya because it comes with all the fat and grease. So, if you’re health conscious, i wouldn’t recommend this place.

My girlfriend tried this restaurant in her last visit to the Philippines and wasn’t too impressed, a feeling that stuck after our last visit to this location. This place gets packed on the weekend. We came in around 6pm on a Saturday. Thankfully, we had a short 15min wait compared to most who were waiting close to an hour as we walked out the door. For dinner, we ordered pancit palabok, sizziling pork sisig, beef kaldereta, lechon kawali and crab fried rice. The crab fried rice and lechon kawali were good but I’d pass on everything else. For dessert, we had halo-halo and turon(banana lumpia) topped with vanilla ice cream and caramel. I suggest the turon. If you’re looking for good sisig and halo-halo, go to House of Sisig. You won’t be disappointed. The restaurant is conveniently located in Westlake, but I would prefer a little mom and pop Filipino restaurant instead of this highly commercialized, overpriced and slow service joint.

This place appears busy enough for a weekday experience. Seating was immediate when arriving by 12:30pm. I’ve only tasted a few Filipino dishes thus I am open to try what may look appealing from the pictures in the menu. *** — Pancit Palabok — Light and tasty. ** — Sizzling Pork Sisig — Ground pork sauteed with this dish has potentially good flavor with the exception of what may be pork gristles throughout the tasting. ** — Leche Flan — A bit on the heavy and dense side. Our food took awhile to arrive, perhaps not enough cooks. On the other hand our waiter was attentive in taking our order and bringing the dessert.

Gotta be honest… I was a little wary after reading all the horrible Unilocal reviews, simply because i trust my fellow Unilocalers. Since my friend wanted to try this place out, we tagged along. And actually, my experience was way beyond my expectations. First of all, on a Friday night at 8pm, this joint was CRACKIN’!(This has gotta say something about this restaurant.) The bar was full, there were several HUGE parties, and a bunch of friends and family just hanging out. The interior was nicely done, definitely seems like a grille sort of place. Even some of the outdoor seating was full, I guess they were super busy. GOODTHINGWEHAD A RESERVATION! We went in with a party of 10, and it was great to see that the table had been set up for us before we even got there. We started off with the spring rolls, the chicken skewers, and the chicken wings. All came out HOT and everything tasted really good. We got the grilled squid, two kinds of fried rice(one of them was the fish one) and the ribs. All good again. Then the dessert. oh man the dessert was good. It was deep fried ice cream and I don’t know why but I really liked the crunchy outside. Overall a good experience. Good food, good service. «Yay! I’m a fan!» is exactly right for this place!

FINALLYITSOPEN!!! and i saw my future x-husband-baby-dad!!! Three Gerry’s Grill in the United States(2 in the bay and 1 in socal). So I’ve heard dazzling thoughts about the food from my coworkers who’ve ate at the ones in the Philippines… and the one at Union City in eastbay. Check List — thank god it’s not a turo turo place — thank god their menu is a booklet — thank god they have good sisig — thank god its NOT a hole-in-the-wall — thank god the servers know how to serve — thank god there’s a hip restaurant not to far from my pad — thank god there is no fly patrol necessary — thank god for outside seating and heater lamps because this is daly city i like how they have a bar. not a danky bar, but a real bar you can actually have a seat, eat and drink. and the bong looking beer guzzler they put in the middle of your table fit for 5+ people. my friends and i ordered — 2 sides of white rice and 1 side of garlic rice. can comeone tell me WHY they shove all rice on one plate. its sides and an individual order, i prefer it to be served seperately like in a bowl. — BBQ beef. for the price i was happy to have 3 fat juicy sticks of beef. but they didnt slide off the stick so easily which makes me sometimes wonder… the beef is kind of hard, is this really beef!!! hmmm. — lechon kawalli. $ 10.99 nothing special, its the same as everywhere else. i prefer not to really order lechon kawalli at filipino restaurants, im not that big of a fan unless it’s my mom’s lechon. — chicken inasal $ 10.99. definately no special ingredient. it looks kind of burnt baked chicken, yahknow BLACK on the outside but white on this inside. but it tasted like normal chicken and im suprised the meat wasn’t dry. BUT a secret 5 stars for the PORKSISIG $ 10.99. best sisig i’ve ever had in the bayarea. i should have just ordered PORKSISIG with my white rice and be satisfied. I asked the waitress«is this just pork meat right?» and she said«yes just pork». after many bites I started to disect my sisig, like usual, and wonder… pork meat? including pork eats, feet, snout, butt?! after thinking of all that i suddenly stopped eating. we ordered alot and i had two boxes of left overs. believe me i was rolling with 2 of my guy friends and skinny lil me. we killed it and still had left overs. word! Not only was i feeling bloated, stuffed, and satisified… i sure didn’t feel sexie seeing some eyecandy. next time, i wont shove my face with too much sisig and say hello. oohwee!

I’ve been waiting for this location to finally open. Friends who live in the East Bay and frequent the Union City location rave about it. Nothing to rave about. They were short staffed with waiters, but plenty of bussers. What is there to people are still waiting for their food? It took a good while for our food to arrive and one by one they arrived, about 10 minutes apart. UGH! We ordered the bulalo, pinakbet, pork sisig, and grilled squid. The bulalo was good! Good flavor and the meat was tender. But I think mine is better. Pinakbet, my brother liked it. Now this is my mom’s signature dish and I’m a bit biased. It was good, but it wasn’t mom’s. My brother noted a sweetness to it and after he said that I noticed it too. Pork sisig= FAIL! Or as my son would say EPICFAIL. WTF? Was that shredded pork? Or something else? I am used to the chopped up thick pieces of like steak like pork with the onions and jalapeño and special«sauce». None of that. Plenty of chicharon which was a nice change but I just wasn’t feeling it. Grilled squid, I can see this being a signature dish. Nice flavor to it, similar to that of tocino. But it just weirds me out that the squid is so gigantoid. I’m so used to the small pieces in calamari. Lol. So yeah, Been there done that and I doubt I’ll try it again. There are so many other places for«soul food» that are better IMO. Oh yeah and what’s up with the kid’s menu items being served with spaghetti and NOT rice?

Firsties! Now that out of the way. Time for the review. Got there about an hour after their grand opening. It was packed inside so we decided to eat our dinner outside. We ended up ordering chicharon bulaklak, pork sisig, pork sinigang, grilled squid, beef kaldereta. We also got a free order of lumpia shanghai. It took awhile to get our food but its understandable becasue its opening night and what-not but the wait was worth it. Lumpia shanghai: Our free appetizer. Pretty weird seeing egg roll sized lumpia shanghai. Taste wise its pretty darn good. Their sweet and sour sauce was good. Pork sisig: A lot different from the sisig I have had at places such as House of Sisig or ongpin. But ill tell you this dish was GREAT. The food came on a piping hot sizzling plate. If you like crispy pork bits with onions. You must try this dish. Pork sinigang: Taste like the pork sinigang. Nothing over spectacular. It was sour but thats how all sinigang should be lol. Sour in a good way. Grilled squid: I didnt have mush of the grill squid but my friends say«it was good and they liked it» Ill take their word for it. beef kaldereta: Was more sweet then savory then other beef kaldereta I have had in the past. The beef was a little on the dry side. My only real gripe with this place is the rice. The rice seemed to be in really small portions. I ate two orders of rice with my meal. And so did my friends. Big family style portions, Good beer, Good Food. Go try it!
