Going to go off on a tangent to kick things off. Dalton seems more like Atlanta to me than Chattanooga, even though it’s closer to Chattanooga. I can’t put a finger on why. Maybe it’s beautiful Dalton High School. Why are the public schools just over the line into Georgia(such as Ringgold) so much better than those in Tennessee? Dalton’s public library is probably better even than the main branch of the Chattanooga Public Library. And don’t talk about the decrepit branches of the Chattanooga library. One thing we noticed when we lived in Atlanta area is how much better libraries are there. Dalton also has a fine arts scene. As does Chattanooga, but Chattanooga much bigger of a city. I got mad seeing how nice Dalton’s public institutions are. Until we in Chattanooga get our awful public school system in gear, as well as our library system, we can’t call ourselves a great city. Best midsized city in America, my ass. It’s not even close. We are just a playground for the well to do. Another reason Dalton feels more like Atlanta is Kroger. People might say that we have Publix in Chattanooga, but I prefer Kroger. Much larger, more selection, better prices. Maybe customer service not as good and yes the employees there are union. But I think the store is better than Publix. As Steven said, this is a huge store. In addition to food items, they have home goods in several aisles(linens, plates, candles, probably furniture, etc.) Their selection of food items is impressive. As always, a great cheese selection. They have always had great cheese selection. Back when they had a store on Hwy 153 in Hixson next to Formosa, they had cheese samples in the cheese section, which I used to help myself to often. This store also has a huge wine selection. And because they are in Georgia, they can sell beer in the same store with the wine! Amazing! Unlike a couple other posters here, I had good customer service. I wish Kroger would come back to town since this one is just a bit out of the way. Kroger has a major warehouse in Cleveland, Tennessee. How about opening just one store in Chattanooga. Maybe at the old Grocery Bar location downtown. It would be a gold mine for Kroger. Anybody here remember the Kroger Price Patrol ladies on Chattanooga TV? Anyone under 48 need not apply!

Awesome service and staff. Great selection! Would steer clear of Kroger brand cheese, I’m taking mine back today as it was old and dry. Two people helped me: Jeanine at the cheese counter and Laurann at the deli. They were both exceptional, friendly, and took their jobs seriously.

The good thing is its open all the time. The bad thing is figuring out how to get into the store after 10:00 at night. I mean, there were no signs, no nothing. Then when we finally got in, there were no baskets … had to wander all the way down to the other end of the store to find a hand basket … never did find the rolling stock. It is a large store, and seems like it has a lot of stuff. Then they began turning off lights on us. I mean, I thought they were going to kick us out. In a huge store, that is looking rather deserted, I was getting spooked. Finally, we gave up and decided to leave, and only got about ½ of what we had come for. Then we get up front, and there are dozens of customers standing around, and like one person doing the check out. We could not even find the do it your self line for a while, until some of the people left. They did not seem like customers, but were rather friends of the check out person, who were standing around planning a party or something. This is probably one of the most unfriendly Krogers we have ever been to.

While this Kroger has a far better selection of items than the one on Cleveland Hwy, they are not faultless either. I bought a package of pre-made sausage patties and brought them home. Two days later when I actually went to cook them, I noticed that the package had already been opened, but had been taped shut. I don’t know about you, but I don’t eat food items that have previously been opened, especially uncooked meat. That is a health hazard if I have ever seen one. Such a letdown. If it weren’t for the Kroger points, I wouldn’t shop there at all.

Nice store. Great selection. Severely understaffed! I was in the deli area with four other customers. At first there was only one employee waiting on us then a second finally showed up after 10 minutes. When I went to check out, I thought I was at Walmart since there were only two registers open in addition to the self-service registers. To make matters worse, people with full baskets were using the self-service registers and backing that area up.

I love this Kroger! It’s too far away though! I wish it was a super center Kroger like in Lambertiville Michigan but it will do for now. We are hoping and praying for a super center Kroger here in Cleveland Tennessee instead of driving all the way to Georgia, it’s just way too far away.. We eat vegan or organic mostly. We love simple Truth Organic! Plz Kroger, build a Super Center Kroger in Cleveland Tennessee!!! I love that at least this Dalton Georgia store is open 24 hours which also helps because my husband works all hours and we can go there in the middle of the night. The sad thing is that the deli is not opened at night. And the Krogers in the South don’t have the packaged stuffed grape leaves that we Love! so sad indeed! This store is not a Super Center but it has almost what a Super Center does.

It is the simple truth: This is the best Kroger I have ever been in. Why? They should call this Super Kroger. It is so big and they have a great assortment as well as variety of different products. Look at my pictures of the wine aisles. Wow. I just took 3 pictures of the wine gondolas but there were a lot more. I chose a chocolate red wine. I have never seen this before. I will come back to this Kroger real soon. I did not know there was one here this nice. It’s about as big as some Walmart Supercenters. The customer service was 5 stars too. Both Kroger employees I encountered were friendly, helpful, courteous, and I could tell really liked their jobs.

This is the closest Kroger to my home: Chattanooga. Fortunately I work in the area so I don’t have to make any special trips. This Kroger has one of the most amazing produce departments I have ever visited for a big-box grocer. They always have some unique fruit or vegetable I haven’t seen. And since I’m an adventure eater, this is good! The deli sections are made daily and are usually very fresh. They have Boar’s Head, too. Most times I visit, I leave a happy customer. The one challenge I have with them is the consistency of the salad bar. Sometimes I can go in before work and it’s ready to go and I can enjoy the best salad in Dalton for lunch. Other times it’s not ready, which gives me a frown. There have also been days where the salad bard has been taken over by pre-made«salads.» Which means a few varieties of chicken salad, tuna salad, bean salad, and pasta salads galore, all chock-full of mayo!(Which means there’s very little veg to choose.) Overall, I visit this store frequently. There’s always a sale of some sort and I can usually find what I need, plus a little something I didn’t! I’m a fan.

I really like Kroger, I do pretty much all of my grocery shopping there. They have a really really good deli, lots of different cheeses and meats. The prices are reasonable as well! I do recommend getting a Kroger card though, it has saved me a ton of money!

grocery HUGE upgrade, they did a lot of renovations over the last few years. the layout is much nicer, darker wood floors, VERY clean, fresh produce. they also have a large area dedicated to health foods, organic foods, with lots of gluten free products, soy products, protein/health bars. has a «whole foods» feel to it, but still carries all the normal grocery stuff too. i think Kroger is in the same family as «Ralphs», sometimes I see Kroger brand sold at Ralphs… anyway, this Kroger is very nice, come check it out it’s really nice to see the«healthy food craze» make it out here in small town Dalton. Now if only we could get a Trader Joe’s too: P oh and there is a starbucks, sushi bar, deli, blockbuster inside too also has a large selection of cosmetics and bath goods
