Winspear Opera House

DFW certainly has no shortage of theatres, but can anyone argue that the Winspear is clearly one of the best? Located downtown in the bustling arts district, the Winspear hosts an impressive offering of musicals, plays, converts, dance performances and other events. The staff is always friendly, and the building is simply beautiful. Make sure to watch the ceiling before their shows; the chandelier that raises into the the sky is breathtaking!

Parking underground was great and had escalators that lead right to the front door. The opera house is very nice. I came for Shen Yun, Chinese cultural performance, and sat in the first balcony, stage right. View was pretty good, but the rows are pretty narrow and you have to stand up every time to let someone by. Overall nice venue

Beautiful opera house. Who knew we had this gem in downtown Dallas!!! We purchased tickets to Shen Yun … an absolute must see!!! Where Chinese Culture, History, Dance, Ballet and Symphony all come together. We learned a little of the history of China and of their beautiful culture and a 5,000 year old dance. The performers were amazingly wonderful. The setting, the props and the dancers’ attire was breathtaking. Well worth the price!!! We were on the fourth level balcony and it was perfect for viewing the stage. It was a little high and I agree the seating is steep and stepping past others is tricky, but then you really aren’t leaving during these performances until intermission anyway. Parking is underground which made it nice for us as it was raining the night we attended.

The backstage is magnificent. So much room for backstage sets, dressing rooms were abundant! Unlike the backstage at the Wyly or the city performance hall. Wish there had been a little more thought & planning about the acoustics of these venues. They suck compared to the Meyerson.

Stunning architecture, beautiful atmosphere. It is always such a treat when I get to go to the opera house. It is such a beautiful building that provides amazing performances to our community. This was such a great addition to our Dallas arts scene. Inside the auditorium is the most incredible chandelier that raises and lowers when the show begins and ends. There is a parking garage underground with easy access to the entrance along with valet right outside the entrance if you prefer that. Love this place!

Decent performances, frankly terrible seats.
The rows are so close to each other, you’re afraid of falling onto the row below you. Trying to scoot past people is nearly impossible.
Putting rows of seats this close to each other is incredibly irresponsible.

We went to a performance of Peter Pan 360 at this venue. For this special performance, they built a special venue in the parking lot in a tent. This special tent did not have all of the Wolfgang Puck dining options that others talk about. They offered popcorn, soft pretzels, hot dogs, Pringles Chips, Pizza, Cotton Candy, Ice Cream Novelties, and Nachos. The regular Consessions had normal drinks, but another little table had beer and wine options. The only domestic beer was Coors. The prices were elevated, but not outrageous like some places, like a baseball or football game. The performance was delayed by about an hour due to technical difficulties, but once it got going, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Things happen. I totally understand that this kind of situation could be very frustrating to someone there with small children with zero attention span, but making the host whose job it is to help you find your seat’s day more miserable by complaining endlessly isn’t going to help anyone’s situation.

Beautiful opera house. We were in top balcony, front row for Motown today and the show was fantastic. Only downside is the safety of sitting there… it is very high and the guard rail is about knee height with a very narrow walkway. Not sure how it passed building code… but we were fine, just a bit nervous!
Chandelier Lights are beautiful. Sound is great. If you have not gone here for a show… buy tickets soon!

WOW. Gorgeous place. I’ve able to come here a few times now and I have always enjoyed my visit here. The acoustic here is sublime. There really isn’t a bad seat here. You can hear and see everything clearly and it’s definitely hard to not just be in awe once you step inside.
Paid parking is available and there are a few spots scattered throughout to get adult beverages.
I really can’t wait to return to this magical place.

Absolutely one of my favorite places to go to in Dallas. I got to see Peter and the Starcatcher, Beauty and the Beast, Jason Mraz, and the Book of Mormons here so far. I love this place. The sound system is amazing. I can actually heard the performances loud and clear (unlike summer musical at Fair Park). The seats are comfortable. The restrooms are clean. I love the décor. It’s so pretty. This place is fairly new so it still looks good, and I hope they can keep it that way for a long time.
There are a few things that bother me though. For how big this place is, I thought the stage is a little small. I hope they can expand it a little bigger so not everything looks so cramped. There’s a parking garage underneath the opera, and valet is also available for a price of your arm and leg. With a 2 minute walk, you can find a decent parking lot for less than $ 10.
Beside that, I love this place. I get so excited when we have an event here, especially if you get to sit so close to the stage. I can’t wait to come back for more.

Have seen many operas here and the facility is top-​notch. There are about 5 – 6 levels and the outside of the building is mostly glass which gives it a classy, upscale feel. I also like that the walls and areas are red, with red couches on each floor. There is usually small food /​dessert items that you can purchase if you arrive early enough before the show and relax. The inside is absolutely beautiful with a large chandelier in the middle that retracts once the show begins. I have always enjoyed my experience here and will continue to go back once the season opens up again in the Fall. One of the nicest places in Dallas. Enjoy!
