What a spot on delicious food establishment! I have been coming to this location for YEARS and whenever I do, I have a very nice server who is attentive & I have amazing food which is satisfying to the eyes & tummy! The last time I was there, our server really worked the features/specials/upselling and I’m glad I said yes because the ceviche was so refreshing. I do wish the restaurant had a little bit more light at night but if that’s my only comment, they’re doing great!

Dropped in on a Sunday for lunch and was happily surprised by the fresh and flavorful food we were served. I had the shredded beef flautas and I was totally impressed. Some of the best flautas I’ve ever had. Also worthy of mention was the outstanding service. Our drinks never got less than half full… They must have filled them three times. We will be coming back. Excellent experience here at Veracruz Café!

Went here on a Wednesday based on a recommendation, but showed up and the food was delivered cooked but cold which indicates it’s not that fresh. Should have took a clue since it was completely empty. Gave it two stars because the drinks we ordered weren’t bad and the salsa was good. Disappointed … Maybe there’s a different chef on the weekend?

So much culture packed into a little restaurant! The chips and salsa are addictive! Also, the drinks were fantastic! I just stopped for drinks, but all the food looked fantastic, and I will definitely return to try the food!

This was delicious, the food was perfect. I would highly recommend it if you are in the area. The Queso Fundido Tamiahua with chicken is a must for the appetizer.

This is one of the few places around that makes mole from scratch and it’s delicious. They are a little pricier with the gentrification, but still worth the drive from Arlington. Service was ok, but uncomfortable as there were so many servers they were practically looming. Oh… and they close way too early.

Excellent food and service. This is real authentic Mexican food. Queso fundido tamiahua is just delicious and I was very impressed by the milanesa. This place made our day!

Really authentic flavor and good strong margs! Can’t complain! The staff was very nice and efficient, didn’t have to watt too long for our food. A great selection of food, and had a very fresh flavor. No artificial«Tex-mex» here. The queso was amazing!

I bought a Groupon to check this place out. The food was pretty good however it’s over priced. A lunch plate will cost you at $ 15 bucks, wow! Too much for my wallet, even with a Groupon . Probably won’t be back even with another Groupon.

Lovvvve this place. Complimentary chips are baked fresh and come warm to the table. If ever questioned whether a restaurant buys their salsa… well see if they carry a 10 gallon pot of it across the kitchen like this place. Delicious. The margaritas are mixed with real fruit for the flavor. Never had a margaritas so good. Got the almond oyster appetizer. Was skeptical but then a huge fan… an interesting concept and executed so well. There’s a soup that’s similar to a tortilla soup but loaded with seafood. REAL seafood not the frozen stuff, and a healthy portion. Almost got full off of it. And again… delicious. We’re not even to the entrée yet and I’m almost full and absolutely stunned but how good everything is. Come during off hours(we came at 3pm on a Friday)…so much more pleasant.

Good environment and great location right off Bishops art district. The food is good but not the greatest. Service is good but our server Rolando did not offer us drinks nor a drink menu. Seemed like he was in rush to leave. Other than that, it was just okay.

I dined at Veracruz on a weeknight. The area is fun, and there are places to visit for dessert(Pie Emporium) or a nightcap(Grilled Cheese Factory) nearby. Veracruz Café has a nice, ethnic feel inside and the coffee is phenomenal. As for my fish tacos, they were nothing I would order again. The fish, fillings, and the taco itself were pretty forgettable. But the restaurant has been here for years, so they must be doing other dishes right! Bottom line: I’d go back and have something different.

The food is really fresh, and is not your typical Mexican food. When you have the option to go for a regional(instead of national) cuisine, do it. At a place like Veracruz. Great food, good service, friendly people. Mole is really good, anything with seafood is really good. In addition to the kinds of dishes you won’t see at a typical Mexican restaurant, they have a number of unique margarita flavors. The waiter’s favorite(and now mine) is the Guabana. Delicious.

I had forgotten just how delicious the food at Veracruz is. We made a return visit for lunch after being away for several years. From the chips and salsa forward, everything satisfied and we had an enjoyable time watching Bishop Arts’ foot traffic out of the window. The lunch specials selections are varied, generously portioned and priced around $ 9.50. I had a thin, tender, marinated and grilled sirloin with a blue corn chicken enchilada. My husband had the banana leaf wrapped Tamales Veracruzanos — one each pork and chicken — and was very happy. Excellent service. Beautiful walls. Go. Enjoy!

The service here was wonderful. Went there to have brunch with a couple of girlfriends. We were seated right away, table for 4 adults and 3 kids. They had no problem in getting a couple of tables together as soon as we got there. Chips and salsa, as with any texmex restaurant. I ordered the Gorditas Topilenias. They are topped with plenty of cheese, which I love, and they were pretty good. A friend had the fish tacos which she said were very good. Overall the atmosphere was reminiscent of what my grandmother’s home is like in Mexico. Definitely would go back and recommend for girl time.

Was on a business trip and was poking around online for a new place to eat and stumbled across Veracruz Café. The place was quiet and not very busy at around 7:30 on a weeknight. Had carne asada with an enchilada and a couple margaritas, both of which were good. The server was extremely attentive and the dining room had some nice character to it. Good chance I’ll be back at some point.

My husband got the Shrimp and Scallops Catemaco and it was so good. The sauce is delicious! I liked it better than the Chicken Enchiladas Suiza even though it was delicious as well. Was very hard to choose from their incredibly unique menu. All the dishes were so tempting. They have great service and have a lively and warm and romantic ambience. Can’t wait to come back and try something new! Highly recommend!

The Mole(a thick wonderfully spiced chocolate sauce rich in complex flavors) is still as awesome as ever. Happy to report that the Margaritas are much improved. The service was impeccable, friendly, and efficient. The facility is festjve, quirky and fun. About the only fault I could find was the salsa – wish they had a broader choice: mild, medium and powerful.

Excellent service. Server recommended the mole chicken enchiladas. They were excellent and not too heavy for a mole sauce. The tostadas(3) were also very tasty. The beef brisket was a little on the dry side on the tostada. The chicken was better. The base was black beans and they were more than enough for one meal. Ended up taking ½ home. The chips included blue corn and the salsa was ok. The best part of the meal was the mole and the margaritas. They make an excellent house margarita. We’ve enjoyed their brunch also. Great deal on mimosas.

Veracruz is not your average mexican/Tex Mex restaurant. It’s Mesoamerican, Mayan, Huasteco, and Aztec. I don’t care what is. It’s unique, pretty damn good, and not like every other mexican restaurant. I LOVED the salsa. The chips were tasty. The husband wanted the queso and it was good. The queso is good, but this is one of those places where you want to save room for the main course. Our service was great. Our drinks barely were half empty when our waitress came to refill them. Their sweet tea is really good. I got the Jalapa-Style Chile Relleno, breaded jalapeño topped with beef, sour cream, cheese, pecans, and raisins. It was amazing and you can’t even tell it’s breaded. The pecans and raisins went great with it and I don’t even like raisins! I admit at first I turned my nose up at the thought of nuts and raisins in my relleno. Don’t. It’s one of the best Rellenos that I’ve had. The husband got the Enchiladas Huastecas with beef and it was sooo good.

Fair. Not bad, not great. Plenty of other good Mexican places around. My friend had Pollo Pipian and I had the Mole Xiqueño. My friends was quite dry and was not spicy as the description suggested. My mole was good, but I’ve had better. Mine came with julienned steamed vegetables that were flavorless. Again, not bad, but not memorable.

Locals have been raving at us about this place for more years than I’ll admit & finally we made it. Even after all that build up it did not disappoint. Both our lunches were excellent(fish tacos &L4… a delightfully thin steak with a chicken enchilada). So full of flavor without being heavy or covered in melted cheese(cheese was only used as an accent, a bit of texture & color contrast it seemed). We cannot wait to return for dinner.

Shamefully bad. Avoid. The chips were fine. The salsa was a little bland. The first cause of concern was the margarita, which wasn’t the right color and tasted too sweet. Also, it was not blended properly. So, all the taquila was in one spot in the drink. I ordered the ceviche because it was on special. That’s actually why I tried the restaurant. The ceviche consisted of previously fozen salad shrimp and previously frozen overcooked tilapia. Tilapia don’t even swim near Veracruz. Ceviche should be cooked with acid, not heat. And the use of salad shrimp as an ingredient is really inexcusable. I couldn’t believe that this meal cost me almost $ 30. I was really hoping for a nice ceviche made with cuts of fresh fish and a cold, tart, margarita. I was disappointed. I am really hoping that Veracruz Café goes out of business so that a good latin restaurant can go into the space because the location and interior design are amazing. It’s a shame to waste that location on bad food.

I’ve been to the Vera Cruz in Cedar Hill and wanted to give this location a try. I have always been impressed with the Cedar Hill location and this location in Bishop Arts continues the tradition of delicious food at a reasonable price. The presentation is great, the service just as good and the atmosphere on that is perfect for dinner or a date. I recommend the pollo carnival which is was perfect. Kuddos the chef!

Small hiccup getting the wrong order, but hey it happens. What matters is that they corrected it immediately. Super friendly service and the food was awesome. Ordered the beef burrito and fish tacos and super happy with it. The queso is sooo good. Hard to stop eating those chips. It’s definitely easy to get super stuffed so be careful with eating too much. Margaritas are fabulous too! The one less star is only because of the small hiccup and for the ambience. It’s not bad at all, just not 5 star worthy.

We had a wonderful Saturday lunch at Veracruz in the Bishop Arts District. We were seated immediately, the service was prompt and polite and very helpful, and the food was excellent. I got the veggie tamales and my boyfriend got the blue corn enchiladas with mole, and we both loved our food. We agreed that the mole is fantastic, probably the best we’ve had in Dallas. We split a frozen margarita that was truly excellent(nice and strong!). We also appreciated the free bottomless chips and salsa that were brought to the table, warm and delicious. I also want to mention that their Bishop Arts location has fantastic décor, deep purple walls and chandeliers that are both funky cool and make for a fun and pleasant dining experience. We will absolutely be back!

Give me ALLLL the chips and ALLLL the salsa. Yo! I could seriously eat a tub… not a butter tub, but a bath tub(eww, right) of their chips and salsa. I know, gross analogy, but stick with me. So, my boss lady and I decided to hit up Veracruz really quickly today and opted to get our food to go so we could get back to work. Let me tell you, I was not really sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the food. I ordered the Enchiladas El Jardin, ie, Vegetarian Enchiladas and I was definitely a happy camper. Yeah, I suspect that the veggies weren’t cut in house due to them looking crinkle and not having the robust flavor of organic squash, zucchini, and broccoli, but the veggies were cooked beautifully and still held their texture. The real hero of the dish was absolutely the black beans. Holy moly, they were so good, especially with salsa poured on them. One great thing I loved too was the quick service and the fabulous staff. They made a mistake on my bill and did not kick up a fuss or anything. She realized looking at it that she keyed in the wrong thing and fixed the ticket right then and there. I truly appreciated that. If I had to find one fault, it would be that I needed to add salt to the entrée. Seriously, that’s it. I wish the veggies were organic and I needed salt. I say that is a pretty darn good experience. I definitely plan to be back for more, especially if they have brunch.

I came here with a really large group(with reservations) expecting that it was gonna be really good and comparable to a lot of other good Bishop Arts restaurants. First of all, since we had such a large party, they didn’t know how to seat us. They ended up squeezing in really tiny tables into random corners(isolating some people completely from the group). Second, the food was unimpressive. The chips didn’t seem too fresh, and the salsa and queso weren’t particularly good. For my entrée, I ordered the Steak Carnaval, which is sirloin topped with queso fundido, muschrooms, and pickled jalapenos with a side of rice and salad. The quality of the meat was questionable, and it was really flat and overcooked. I didn’t even feel like finishing it. Some of us decided to share an order of the tres leches and the flan for dessert, but both were overly sweet. I guess the décor and the ambience is pretty good, but I would definitely not come back here for the food.

My bf and I stopped in for dinner last night. I had seen consistently good reviews, and I was in the mood for something different. The place itself is charming, with nice décor. However, we didn’t enjoy it as much as I believe we could have, because they seated us at a dinky wooden table in a corner, with a window on one side, and a view of the inside of the kitchen on the other. There was a big booth next to us, leaving very little room to walk through. Oh, well. Our waiter, Andres, was pleasant and polite. I requested a passion fruit margarita, and we ordered our meals. The margarita was awfully delicious… I enjoyed that very much. We were given chips and salsa, and waited for our meals. And waited… and waited. I finally had to ask another waiter if our order would be coming out soon. By that time, it had been nearly half an hour since we ordered. I was not impressed. Our orders came out shortly afterward, and although the enchiladas with mole was delicious, I was put off by the fact that the food was not totally hot. The beans were nice, but the rice was as bland as a piece of cardboard. My boyfriend enjoyed his food, but could not finish it, because the food had taken so long, and he was so hungry, that he ate a lot of chips and salsa while waiting for the meal. Overall, it was not the expectation I had, and it didn’t jive with all the rave reviews I had seen of this place. In addition, the margarita was $ 10.00! I would have expected that if it had some kind of top shelf tequila, and was like one of the ones I had at Meso Maya. I don’t think we will be back… the whole experience was not worth the drive.
