This is the story of a nail care addict who experienced the worst manicure of her life. I walked into Unlimited Nails without an appointment because my regular place was opening late today. I was greeted by a woman blowing her nose and looking out the window. Did she wash her hands before starting on my manicure? No, she did not. The woman in charge offered me to choose from their gel manicure color selection, which was very limited. She then showed me that she had some new colors in a shopping bag from a beauty supply store– certainly took away from the«magic» of feeling like I’m picking a color I can’t go out and buy for myself. She handed me a red box and said it was a great seller. I held up the red box to my nails and said to her«this is the color?» she said yes. I sat down and expected to start soaking my nails and cuticles, as has happened at every manicure I’ve ever gotten in the last 20 years. Instead, the woman began cutting my nails dry. I don’t need to tell you that in the winter months, my skin began cracking and bleeding as she did the cuticle clipping. It was so painful. I asked if she had neosporin and she ignored me. When she was done clipping my nails, she put the clippers back in a box, where I watched my excess fingernails and skin fall into a box with other clippings at the bottom. I was revolted but I felt rude leaving so I pushed on. Next came the part where she burned my fingertips. As I placed my hand into the solar machine, I recoiled my hand back because it was HOT. I said it was burning me, she suggested I pull my hand out for a minute and then she shoved my hand back in. I have burns on my fingertips. As she began painting my nails it became clear to me the color she had shown me as red was not red at all, it was dark brown, almost black. I asked if that was the right color from the box, and she said the color would change and not to worry. I checked the bottle before I left– the color was brown and it says on the bottle that’s the color that will be on your nails. It may have been just a poor marketing strategy to put brown nails in a red box, but I was definitely disappointed. My nails are such a weird composition right now. I have tons of polish at the tips of my nails and the polish is thinned out and sheer at the cuticle line. Best part of all? After the lotion«massage» + hot towel that smelled like a locker room, she dried my arms. With paper towels. Tons. of. paper. towels. Way too many to ever use to dry an arm. You guys, just because it’s in the Park Cities doesn’t mean it’s good.

I’ve been here twice, once for a manicure and the second time for lash extensions before my wedding. It’s located in the shopping center right next to SMU. It’s a nice little nail salon. The ladies that work there are extremely nice and sweet. They have a good selection of good quality polish. I just did the shellac, per their recommendation(my first time) and really liked it. My experience with the lash extensions was good as well. Kathy, who did the extensions, was really thorough and worked to make my lashes long and full, without looking fake. I’d definitely come back next time I need my nails or lashes done.
