I dropped in Friday morning just after they opened, and the smell of freshness hit me right as I walked in the door. I was toast! They had a small selection on Friday, 6/3, but right there in front ALMONDCROISSANTS!!! I ordered: 3 Almond Croissants 2 Pear pastries(oh my goodness– don’t pass these up!!!) 1 Scone(I believe it was Lemon Ginger, nice fresh flavor combo and yet not over powering) My total: $ 23.10 This place is always on point. 5 stars for taste, quality, and freshness! If I had one minor complaint about anything, it would be the receipts. You get it via email or text, but it is NOT itemized. I really wish they were itemized for those of us that can’t remember the names of all the stuff we love from here.

Kouign amann and almond croissant are indeed delicious, but overpriced. Appreciate the fully stacked variety at this location. Can’t say the same for the Greenville location, it was very disappointing.

Initially, my husband and I visited this bakery a few weeks ago and our pastries were amazing! The quality of the croissants was very high, everything we purchased was very fresh. Today, we visited again and I wish I could say we had the same experience. We actually ordered a bit more today than previously because we thought we knew what we’d be getting… However, today we were very disappointed… It was like everything we bought was made at least a day ago, nothing was fresh. We may go back once more and give it a last shot and hope things are fresh once again, if not, there are plenty of other bakeries to try in and around the area…

Sadly, they don’t take delivery. Anyhow, Parking– A private lot is available for parking space. Food– croissants is always fantastic, fresh and baked with love. Few miles away from home, definitely be back, to try other goodies here.

I can’t speak to their authenticity as a French bakery, but everything that I’ve had here so far has been both beautiful and delicious. The laminated brioche is my favorite by far. It’s moist and flaky and wonderful. The last time I went, it was to put together a little bag of goodies for a neighbor. I was picking up jam and bread and thought they might present nicely in the little stamped cheesecloth bags that they were selling. They wanted $ 12 for them and I thought that was a little high and off putting. That’s been the only thing I’ve disliked about The Village Baking so far. I’d absolutely recommend it to any and everyone with taste buds.

This is a great place to get authentic french bakery items. Everything I have gotten here has been excellent from the bread to the sweets. My only complaint is that they seem to run out of stuff often, which I didn’t think would be fair to knock a star off for because it means they are making stuff fresh so they are trying to bake for one day’s amount, and also because they are popular and are selling out.

Located off University and 75, good chance you miss it if you don’t know what kind of building you are looking for. Looks like you are pulling up into a side alley. Anyways, a small little sales area of freshly baked goods, I think their speciality must be croissants! That’s all we tried this time, regular, ham and cheese, spinach and feta, and chocolate. I’m a plain Jane, the original was the best. Definitely will be back, sad I didn’t buy a baguette to go!

WOW ! this is my second time to be at what I think of when I think of a true bakery(1st one in DFW) We went to 2 other so called bakeries today but they seemed to just be cake shops, This reminds me of the old black and white movies with the small town bakers in it making the breads you know back when you stopped at the different shops to get things like the butcher, and then you go to the farmers market to get fruits and veg, or like where a chef would go early morning to get fresh stuff for a meal The only thing that would make it better for me is if I knew what all the different breads were and what was in them

I was really looking forward to trying the Village Baking, but it was a little disappointing. The bread was soso – not light and fluffy. The pastries were missing that oomph because things were a little soggy or not flavorful. I appreciate what they’re doing, but home in SF, we have amazing pastry joints like Neighbor Bakeshop or B. Patisserie and this didn’t come close. I think I may have even preferred the kolache shops in truck stops over the pastries here.

I’ve eaten croissants and sipped their excellent coffee at the retail location on Greenville, and scored several loaves of bread and croissants from the University location. Love the rosemary/meyer lemon bread and the multigrain the best– moist, flavorful, and easily lasts the week it takes me to consume one. The croissants are world class– I typically get the plain, with an occasional ham and cheese, crispy on the outside and fluffy and moist within, mmm. I’ve heard from others that the sandwiches served on lower Greenville are among the best they’ve ever eaten, a claim, I intend to test for myself very soon.

Love the chocolate croissants and raspberry kouign amann(options: raspberry, chocolate, vanilla). Best«real» bakery that isn’t frozen dough just baked in house(like the franchises)– got a peek into the backroom while coming through the handicap entrance, and the many many trays of the fresh and beautiful breads and pastries. Staff is lovely as well!

What happened to this place? First two times where great, then last week we spent a good chunk of change on baked goods that did NOT taste fresh. Not one of all the goods we purchased were fresh. The almond croissant was like a brick, dry, dense and not fresh! Agree with a previous Unilocaler, better and less expensive almond croissant at Central Market. If you insist on giving them a try, I suggest you buy one then proceed from there. Update: I was contacted by management and was very pleasantly surprised and appreciative by their response to make it better. Maybe it was an off day or over baked items. Will go back and try again. Thank you

Nice French surprise in Dallas. The croissant was nice and flaky, and my bf said the scone was the best he ever had. It’s a very tiny place that packs a lot of punch!

Wow… Just wow! Such a delightful little bakery. They have an open parking lot and a small little door that you wouldn’t expect to lead you to one of the best french style bakeries in Dallas. They have many options of cookies, sweet and savory croissants, and the holy grail of kouign amanns. Uggh, they invade my dreams even. The kouigns are sweet, dense, buttery, flaky and too delicious for my own good. One will do you but believe me, you will want another. I’ve been here a few times and there is never a line.

This place is such a hidden gem!!! I had heard from a friend who previously lived in Paris that this little bakery was very authentic(especially their baguettes), so I had to try it out. I could only go in the evening when the pastries weren’t as fresh, but they were still delicious. I ordered a plain croissant and a raspberry kouign amann(which was recommended by the employee). The croissant was pretty good, though I wish it were a little lighter and flakier. I assumed it was because I came too late in the day. The kouign amann was amazing! It was perfectly sweet and caramelized on the outside and gooey on the inside. I can’t wait to try more things in the future!

Seriously one of the best bakeries I’ve ever been to in the States! This is not your run-of-the-mill cupcake bakery… This is definitely an artist’s hands at work. The croissants couldn’t have been more buttery and divine without magic involved… And the brioche. Oh the brioche. No words. Check this place out and experience something you wouldn’t normally in this country.

The Village Baking Co is definitely a hole in the wall bakery. Upon entering the parking lot, you have to swerve a bit to avoid the huge potholes. Pop a tire or scrape your bumper if you don’t enter with caution! This bakery bakes all their goodies in-house and you get the nice cozy feel when entering in. The outside depicts a French feel to it(you definitely forget you’re in Dallas). I ordered the kouign amannan(vanilla, chocolate, and cinnamon)(what? I couldn’t decided!). The outside was beautifully caramelized as the center held a fluffy texture like a croissant. My eye was definitely bigger than my stomach as one pastry will fill you up, let alone three! I wish I was able to order more pastries to try them since there’s nothing better than fresh baked pastries, but I only have one stomach :( If you’re traveling and trying to grab a quick morning snack — I’d recommend this place, but just one pastry though or you’ll encounter morning food coma.

TIP: be careful in the parking lot, there is a large pothole Décor: 4⁄5 –This place is legit! The smell that engulfs you when you first walk in. Interior space is small and line can move a bit slow. Service: 4⁄5 –The staff were friendly and worked as fast as they could but due to the limited space, they had to go into another room to slice bread. That’s inefficient to me. Food: 4⁄5 –The spinach and feta could use more spinach and feta. Overall it tasted like plain bread –The jalapeño and cheddar bread could use more jalapeño however much better than the spinach and feta –The regular croissant and chocolate croissant are my favorite. –The sourdough bread was good but nothing to brag about.

Alright alright, so I’m totally updating my initial thought on this place. I went here before I headed to Louisiana for a photography gig(which btw turned out stupendous), nonetheless– as I stated before the customer service was grand. The Treats– I had a Feta & Spinach croissant and a bag of Almond short bread planks. I fell in love! The Vibe– the cashier who assisted me was very sweet and helpful, but out of thin air(from the back room) here comes a gorgeous woman who’s smile lit up the room. I had to compliment her… in a non-creepy way. But she was just as sweet and helpful too. Cleanliness– superb. Will go back and will recommend this time.

I can’t wait to go back! My first visit was amazing! I’m a bread lover! I went when it was snowing and there were so many options there. Rebecca the cashier explained what everything was and I bought everything. I tried so many things and I loved it! Not a fan of the cinnamon swirl bread, but the almond crossiant, ham and cheese croissant, the raspberry kouign amann, and the regular kouign amann. Everything was absolutley delicious! Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! Also, shouts out to Rebecca the cashier! She was knowledgeable about every product. I told her it was my first visit and she helped me out on my choice. Thanks!
