Mannn, I think I set myself up! I’m starting a meatless cleanse after the New Year. Decided to try this spot out. Had the steak burger and onion rings. Told one of the guys it was my first visit. He said oh, you done messed up. See you tomorrow! I laughed and took my to go order out the door. It was smelling so good! Good thing I live nearby! Deeelish! I think I’ll blame it on my son when I go back tomorrow.

Best little bbq place! Friendly fast service! First is always exactly what you expect every time! My husband loves the chili cheese burgers!(I have to admit this are pretty awesome for a simple down home style chili cheese burger that would rival the varsity!). I personally love their hickory salad with their homemade ranch dressing! Yummy!

This is a great place to eat! I have been here twice and both times were great. When I walked in I felt welcomed from all of the employs and it was pretty busy in there. All of the cooks and other workers were working hard and seemed like they cared about costumer’s. The place its self was also welcoming it is homey and country. The food was wonderful! I got the hickory fries and it was cooked just right! Their BBQ sauce was really good to! I will be going back!

I have lived in the area and finally decided to try this place. The meat is delicious and plentiful, but a bit dry. The secret sauce tastes like watered down ketchup. The cashier was friendly. She knew everyone at the restaurant.

I’m updating my review to five stars from four simply because I’ve been here like three or four times now over the course of two years and it is still awesome and consistent. And the service is killer the people are nice and one of them actually remembered me. And I’m a nobody!

Not much to look at when you drive-by… But oh boy when you go have a ham and cheese sandwich it is my favorite.

Little dumpy BBQ place, the best kind. Wait in line to get your food, but quick service and good prices. The pulled pork was very good, and their sauce is delicious. The stew was a bit odd looking, but tasted great. All in all, if you are riding by, stop and grab a meal, you will like it.

After driving over 1000 miles from CT to GA to see my sister, my wife and I were really jonesing for some real southern BBQ. We got it at The Hickory Hut. The place isn’t pretty, but why would it be? It’s everything you will need: a local place with quick service and great food. We got the BBQ plate. Huge portion, tiny price. Eat there… eat there often.

Meat was dry but the sauces and extras make up for it. The service was fantastic and timely with no problems except for the size of the resteraunt was very confining and only a couple of actual booths in the place. so we got it to go…

This is real deal, no frills local owned, BBQ. The family meal is a great value. I fed 14 people lunch for $ 37.

Love this place! Its a little hole in the wall establishment, but the food and price is amazing and the staff is great! Ive only had the BBQ here once and it was okay. I love the Brunswick stew here and the Chili Cheese burger and hotdogs! If you want great food from a family business, this is the place to get it!

I’ve been going here since I first moved to the area 30 years ago. The BBQ is standard Georgia style BBQ, not very much, if any, smoke flavor in the meat. This seems to be a universal style in Georgia for some reason. Why go to the trouble of cooking over wood if you aren’t going to let the smoke flavor permeate the meat? Still, this is serviceable BBQ if you order it sliced or pulled. The sauce is abominable, I take my own with me. Their hot dogs are a style unto their own. Served on what seems to be a row of those small, sweet, dinner rolls, with a seasoned, watery, hamburger meat sauce. It sounds bad, but they are surprisingly good! Try one! The building is in a sort of depressed area and is kind of run down looking, but it is absolutely safe to go in there. Just salt of the earth type people there.

I have been here many times over the last few years. This place is a well operated family business. The staff is friendly and seem to be hard working. The place is old but they maintain A food inspections. I separate their food into two groups, the pork BBQ and all the rest. I eat BBQ across the entire country so I feel I know BBQ. Their pork BBQ is excellent. They slow cook fresh hams over wood coals. They remove the dark smoked skin and fat, only serving very lean perfectly cooked pork. They over chop the meat into too small pieces. However you can request sliced or pulled. While their pork is excellent, their only sauce is not very good. It is a thick dark reddish brown heavy mess. Think of a poor tasting bottled stuff from the grocery store. They do not offer a North Carolina vinegar based or mustard style sauce. Pitty! Their BBQ salads are excellent. All of their dressings are home made. Their ranch dressing is my favorite. I cannot finish the large one. Now the rest of their food is good to fair. Hot chili dogs are OK. The best treat is the double cheese burger with onions and chili. Greasy, you bet. But wonderful! Never seen a skinny person in this place! The fries are thick cut steak fries. However they are always too greasy. Seem to be cooked in old tired fryer oil. They never taste fresh even when right out of the fryer. Taste like low quality frozen potatoes. I don’t order them, but nearly everybody does. Nonetheless I always return. Rate BBQ salads and double cheese burgers 4 stars. Everything else 2 – 3. Worth a stop if you pass through the old part of Dallas. Nice people!

Went for the first time today. Wished I would have found the place years ago. Everything was excellent. The barbecue was tender and lightly smoked and delicious. Great group of people working the place. Will make it my favorite from here on. Very well done!

Another one of my favorite hole-in-the-wall places… I’m so glad that a friend of mine turned me onto this place. This place has been around forever and for good reason. BBQ is very subjective in these parts. While it’s not the best(IMHO), it’s very close to it. And by that, I mean it’s better than 95% of all the other BBQ places. But, everytime I drive by, I pull in and will get a BBQ Sandwich to go and eat it later because I don’t want to miss an opportunity to get some of that good Hickory Hut food.

SImple food. The fries are perfectly cooked thick steak fries. The chili dogs are very good as well. The BBQ sandwich is one of the best around. It is neat to be able to watch them take the whole pork shoulder and pull the meat in front of you. Well worth it. Beware that a crowd builds quickly around lunch time.

YUMMY!!! For a hole in the wall place with greasy cheeseburgers and fries it is the best!!! Wonderful BBQ! The employees run this small place like a finely oiled machine!
