It serves great sandwiches with bread that has not ever been frozen or sent in on a truck like Potbelly. The MALTS are so so good and you can get away with just getting a small one… millions of times better than Subway or other chains. This is a Dallas-based restaurant and is locally owned and operated. A+

The wheat bread is so dry that it falls apart. Too many teens running the place, especially on Sundays, they are too busy playing grab ass or smoking out. Customer service is awful.

Husband had a double meat roast beef sub with the works, said it was very, very good. I had a «Philly cheese» and while it wasn’t cooked on the grill as is typical, it was an extremely good hot roast beef sub. Hot, with cooked onion, pepper, banana pepper which was actually pretty great, and mushrooms. Service was good and fast. Prices pretty good. Would definately eat here again

Been eating at this shop for 20 years. The people who work here have been here for 20 years. The bread for the sandwiches are always fresh. The meat products are top quality. They have a drive thru at this location. Fast, friendly service.

It is extremely rare to find a sandwich place that when you leave you are full and happy for a cheap price. I believe I just found that sand which place. I ordered a number 12 on white bread with the works also double meat. The lettuce was very fresh and crunchy with ripe tomatoes and the perfect amount of freshly carved meat. I have never gotten so much meat in a sandwich. I will definitely be seeing more of them very soon.

My absolute favorite sandwich comes from The Great Outdoors. #8, the turkey and cheese, on wheat bread with the works, no tomato. And extra mayo. So perfect! So simple and delicious! The quality ingredients is what makes the sandwich so excellent. Cheese and turkey is shredded for your sandwich and the bread is fresh. The service at this location is good, too. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and I’m not leaving anytime soon :)

Excellent sandwich shop. Normally I can’t stand mayo but their campfire mayo was amazing. Glad they recommended it. Croissant was awesome too. Highly recommended.

I’m a picky sandwich-sub person. I don’t like most condiments(I dislike mayo and mustard) and I’m picky about my meats and cheeses. I loved how this place has a large variety of meats, cheeses, and ingredients fresh from the back and they even have awesome desserts. My go-to place for sandwiches now!

I ordered the hot roast beef with provolone — extra pepper relish. Quality of ingredients was nice and fresh. I agree it’s much better than Subway. More similar to Jersey Mikes, only they don’t serve wraps. The staff was friendly(no heavy set rude guy everyone speaks of on here behind the counter).

Great consistent food. I’ve been eating here for 30+ years. They are always good. If you want a mouthful, get a #12 ! Weighs about 2 lbs. ! All fresh meats and veggies. They make your sandwiches quickly and consistently. Great place for lunch. And of course, their milk shakes are made with Henrys Homemade Ice Cream!

A coworker said to me he wanted to eat healthy. to me this is a sin. LMAO. Just kidding. He wanted a sub here and he offered to buy me one. I said ok. esp since my dumbass forgot my lunch and I only had a donut to eat for lunch. Knowing I’m Italian, he suggested the Great Outdoorsman Sub. OMG this was a mouth full if yum!!! The sub was big, the meat was fresh sliced and the tangy mayo was just awesome. It was the perfect sub. I love Subway(in fact it’s my goto sub shop)…but this place has the best subs I’ve ever tasted. They’re a little pricey, but ur taste buds and your tummy will thank you!

Don’t recommend turning a sandwich into a salad here, the greens they use is shredded lettuce, I was highly disappointed in my $ 10 shredded lettuce mess. Go for the sandwiches.

New favorite sandwich shop. This place was amazing, fresh cut meats and cheeses cut right in front of you when placed on your sandwich. Great prices and amazing sauces. It’s not just mayo or mustard there’s 10 different options.

I don’t eat at The Great Outdoors very often, but will likely stop by more often after tonight’s experience. I stopped in at about 7:30 and was immediately greeted by a friendly male and female employee. The female employee was incredibly helpful as I couldn’t quite place what I wanted and felt a bit bedraggled by my very stressful and rather unhappy day. She said she would make me a wonderful sandwich and boy did she. I wish I could remember her name, but in our brief conversation it came up that she has been with the company for about 13 years. Between her uplifting/caring spirit and the quality of the sandwich made, I will most certainly remember that sandwich shop and stop by again soon. As the quality of the food in most places is often based on the care of the person serving/cooking/creating it, I will make sure I return when she is there so I know I will have a great experience/sandwich. I ordered The Invention with the works and she recommended a combination of a spicy and regular mayo that reminded me how great a sandwich can be for dinner. Price not bad…$ 8.50 for the sandwich, chips and pickle. I can see myself craving that sandwich again in the next week. Kudos to that lovely lady for making my day better and filling my tummy with some really good food!

The best way that I can describe this place is to say that it is something in between Subway and Jersey Mikes. It is a step up from Subway as they cut their owns meats as you order the sandwich, so the quality is better. However it is not quite Jersey Mikes, because they do not cook anything to order. For example, the cheesesteak that the guy ordered in front of me was made in the microwave. All in all it was a good sandwich. In my opinion it was a little small, but to be fair, I am a big guy. Also FYI, it will run you about $ 10 for a sandwich, chips, and a drink.

Good, simple sandwiches. Add chips and a drink. Done. Beats most chain sandwich stores, hands down. Very casual, serve yourself atmosphere.

A sub sandwich that’s about the same price subway but is 100 times the quality! I’ll give subway credit for their bread but everything else is lacking. Great Outdoors has quality meats(like turkey pastrami) and cheeses(like muenster) with some variety(put it on a Croissant!!). The produce is FRESH. That simply makes or break a sandwich.

I feel this is a bit overpriced for what you get. I got their signature sammy and it is nothing to write about. I got it standard without taking anything off but added banana peppers. With drink and chips it was about $ 10. The only thing I could taste was the banana pepper. Their meat was bland and they didn’t add nearly enough oil and vinegar. Maybe I just had a bad sandwich? This was the 1st time I ate here so I’ll try it again and update if I feel I was mistaken. Until then, I’ve had better.

If you love sandwiches, you absolutely must try this place out. The bread is so delicious, I cannot even describe my adoration for this place. The décor is fun, and it is very inviting to eat there. It is always clean, and service goes quickly. If you come during lunch, you will be waiting in line.

Been eating here(or at other locations) all my life and I love it. The bread is just spectacular and the service is also super kind and helpful. Whenever I am back in Dallas stopping by here is a must.
