Sprinkle Donuts

In our hunt for our new, favorite neighborhood donut shop in the Oaklawn area, we stopped the car based soley that there was more than DONUTS on the sign.
Upon entering I was delighted to find the people of the neighborhood were hanging out here, reading the newspaper, drinking coffee, and snacking on sweets. With all the hustle and bustle on the area, this shop is comfortable enough to hang in.
Sprinkles Donuts offers what we have come to expect from a standard operation: donuts, kolaches, coffee and a cold case of milks and juices. We ordered the basics: holes, glazed, chocolate glazed, chocolate old fashioned and of course, one with sprinkles. The holes were great, sweet and crunchy. The glazed actually tasted a bit different: sweet, wet and creamy. Old fashioned was good but a little dry. The chocolate glaze was underwhelming, even bland. Definitely could be more potent, aka, taste chocolat-​y-​er. The sprinkles were sprinkly.
Overall, these are donuts by definition, enjoyed by the locals but this isn’t our new donut shop.
