I love this place but they loose 1 star because service can be spotty. I come here all the time because its consistently good and convenient. The place its self is very casual and plain. They have good specials on weekdays. Tuesdays are 50 cent oysters which arent the best oysters but they’re fine. Wednesday they have a boiled shrimp and crab special for like 25 $. My favorite things here are the fish tacos, the ceviche tostadas, and the shrimp cocktails. The ceviche tostadas always taste fresh. I really enjoy their ceviche recipe and it rivals ones Ive had in the yucatan. The fried oysters are great too but a little greasy. The fries are not great. Oh they have a seafood soup that is really good and seems to be healthy. This place can get very busy and the service can be bad when its busy. Its always filled with locals! The drive thru sucks so I always just go inside or call ahead.

SUB-PAR!!! Don’t waste your money here. We were at the Italian place next door, that was as good as it has been for over 20 years and noticed this place doing a pretty brisk business, so we decided to give it a try a couple of nights later. What a disappointment. Our food came out nearly 10 minutes apart from each other, but that was just the beginning. The food was not good. Overcooked, over breaded and very flavorless. Hush-puppies were dense, oysters were mush and the shrimp were little hockey pucks. The catfish was so thin, it was like eating a shingle. Overnight, I had horrible indigestion and the guy I was at dinner with said he was sick for an hour overnight!!! Every place can have an off night, but that did not seem to be the vibe we got. I can only guess that the GOODREVIEWS come from a lack of options for seafood in the area. Do yourself and drive a little to any of the SHUCKS locations. My wife and I regularly eat at the Aw Shucks in Lewisville, and it is FAR superior to this place.

Looks like an old Dairy Queen on the outside but the food inside is delicious. Consistently good, the fried catfish can’t be beat, crispy coating and melt in your mouth catfish inside. The sauces are great. Great shrimp and shrimp cocktail is huge. Great oysters too. Two people can eat and drink for around $ 20. You really get great food at a great price!

DONOTGET A POBOY. I paid 8 dollars for a lettuce and tomato sanwhich. There was maybe 4 tiny fried oysters in their. I got more batter than oysters, I told the manager and he said its because oysters are expensive. Raise the price and add some oysters!

Ordered one pound shrimp and 3 fish tacos. Good when I ate it but really lackluster compared to other restaurants that serve similar food.

So busy that no place to seat… judging from the number of people packed here, this place must know what they are doing. …still waiting for my food to come out…

Our order was wrong twice, and the wait was RIDICULOUS, which in and of itself is not a big enough reason after one visit for me to leave a review, but with that, this food wasn’t even good enough to go back. I would call it an issue of miscommunication on Unilocal’s part, because this is not simply seafood, definitely not cajun, it’s Mexican. It was also underwhelming. The catfish and shrimp were run of the mill. The cole slaw didn’t taste like cole slaw, the fried okra didn’t taste like fried okra. As for the actual Mexican dishes, maybe they’re good? Haven’t tried them. I love flautas and tostadas, and I don’t want to risk ruining my taste for them here.

Had a great lunch at the Seafood Shack today. Not a lot of money has been spent on the interior of the Seafood Shack. It is not that kind of place. The dining room and décor is functional — not fashionable. But the food is good! And when you go for lunch– you are going to be surrounded by all sorts of people who know it. People in suits, people in work boots and jeans, people waiting to meet other people, older retired couples, business people, college people– you will see it all! I am a real estate investor and I’m flipping a home in the area. Everyone that comes to work on this home has been so excited to go there! This is an «order at the counter, take a number and find a seat» place. They have all kinds of seafood: Grilled, Fried, and some great lunch specials as well! I ordered the grilled Talapia because it was my first time and I didn’t know there were lunch specials and when I ordered from off the main menu, no one offered to let me know that there were lunch specials…(Next time I will get a lunch special…) Anyhow– I ordered the grilled talapia with veggies. It came with white rice and a sriracha type hot sauce. I also ordered the fried mushrooms just for funzies. The fried mushrooms were just what they should be– mushrooms surrounded with a thick batter and deep fried. Probably not very healthy, but hey– I ordered the grilled Talapia, so I could splurge, right? The talapia was fresh, spiced very well and grilled to perfection. The veggies were very fresh and not overcooked, which is refreshing. I am so happy to find this place and will definately be back. Probably tomorrow :).

This spot had the best seafood caldo in Dallas. Giant bowl of shrimp and fish goodness. It’s a small dive, and it fills up fast at lunch, so you want to go early. The fried stuff is cornmeal battered and very good too.

There is a reason this place is so packed all the time… Awesome food! Not a quite place, full of families that know where to get good food.

Hmm, where do I start! I came to Seafood Shack for the 50 cent oysters. I was very very disappointed! I mean, you get for what you pay for. Some of the oysters were FROZEN… FROZEN! The oysters were not fresh, and still so dirty! I also ordered the fried shrimp basket and my friend ordered the wings basket. On the menu, it says that hush puppies were included, but I did not receive any… I was so upset! Definitely not coming back ever again!

The shrimp cocktail was plenty for two people to eat and it had tons of large sized shrimp. They even serve tortilla chips to eat with it if that is your preference over crackers. The fried catfish was good but I liked the dipping sauce that it came with, which tasted somewhat like tartar sauce with a bit of a kick. The portion they serve is very generous for all the plates especially for the good prices they charge.

A few days ago my boyfriend’s dad was eating take out food from here and I had a bite of his shrimp flauta. I immediately made plans to make it here. Then I read all the Unilocal reviews(yep, all of them) and started to panic a bit. But we came anyway because that one bite I had was that good. Unlike what everyone said, parking wasn’t a challenge and we walked right up to the counter and ordered at 6:30 pm. I read all the reviews about your order being wrong since everyone behind the counter is Mexican and decided to put that to the test. My boyfriend is from Mexico and I had him go first and order his food. He ordered in Spanish, but he does that wherever we go if he sees a fellow Latino. Then I got up and ordered separately. The girl was just as kind and just as efficient, she was just speaking to me in my language instead of his. And wen our order came? Everything was correct. And it makes my heart ache that do many of the negative reviews on here are just racist comments about how Mexicans should learn English. I ordered the flautas and they were worth our crazy long drive. It freaked me out that the shrimp is cooked in the tortilla with the tail still on, but tails are edible technically so I just continued to eat. My boyfriend had the large shrimp cocktail and it was huge. It tasted good and had generous amounts of avocado. The only problem with it was that they only give you a few tortilla chips and once you’re out there’s still a ton of cocktail left to drink like a soup. We had the fried mushrooms. They were my least favorite part. They were obviously cooked to order since they were so hot, but one bite would take the entire mushroom out and then you’re left with just a hunk of bread. I love bread but I wanted mushroom in every bite. We also had the shrimp and bacon jalapeños. I wanted the shrimp and crab ones, but for the same price you can get the bacon ones and get 3 more to an order than the crabs. They were good, but watch out for the little toothpicks left after the cooking! I really liked this place. Our service was fine. We waited a little for our food, but the average time I would wait at any restaurant. Our entrees were both delicious. I want to come back and try the crab boil on Wednesday nights. That’s a steal.
