Omg! This is a hidden jewel! The food is delicious, the service is wonderful and the oysters are to die for! The red beans and rice taste like they came right out of someone’s grandmother’s kitchen in Louisiana! The lobster roll and lobster linguini was delicious but my absolute favorite thing was the oysters! They have oysters from the east coast and the west coast and we tried them all! I found out I’m a west coast oyster lover!!! All of the food is fresh out of water fresh!!! To top off my wonderful experience Ben, the head chef, guided us through a impeccable food safari and Beau, the owner, was the icing on the cake! Not only is he a connoisseur of food, his customer service is jaw dropping compared to most restaurant owners!!! Kudos to Rex’s Fresh Seafood at the Market!!! We will be back!

Maybe I just have to try the oysters but until then I was highly disappointed withe the lobster roll. I would recommend they use the mayonnaise sauce as an option & not smother my lobster with it… You get a side. I chose the rice with Beene and they were good, they tasted like bacon so if you’re not s fan of bacon or if you are that’s always good to know :)

Even though I work here and am a bit bias. The food here is truly amazing. Everyday I try to get something new and in over 20 + dishes I’ve yet to try something I wouldn’t want again. The chef(Ben) is the best. So creative and attentive to every little detail. Cares so much about the product he puts his name on. The staff and owner are some of the best people you could ever come across. I feel so lucky to be a part of Rex’s. If you like fresh seafood, oysters, and good people this is the place for you. Come give it a try. You won’t be disappointed

This is my first time at the Dallas Farmers Market. The Dallas Farmers Market is still under construction but The Market(The Shed 2) and The Shed are already open. Rex’s seafood is located inside of The Market and they offer a broad range of seafood and draft beers. I like how clean and organized this place is. Once we sat down, the bartender got our drink orders and recommended us to try Er Boquerón, which is a Spanish artisan beer made from natural ingredients, using Mediterranean Sea water from Valencia. It was delightful and very smooth as well. For appetizers and entrée, me and my boyfriend ordered a half dozen of gulf oysters and lobster roll with vegetables. The gulf oysters are definitely fresh and the sizes are decent. I’d love to come for happy hour to try east/west coast oysters since they are on the pricier side. The lobster roll was delicious! The sauce is not overpowering so you can still taste the freshness of the lobster. It was my first time trying it and I already fell in love with it. The side of veggies were phenomenal. Food is great. Service is great. The location is a bit far but still worth the drive.

BEST Ceviche I’ve had in Dallas and I am a Mexican, I’ve tried several places :) The Tuna Salad is also amazing! The staff was so cheerful and in a good mood(for a Sunday), I give that a BIG A PLUS+ I am coming back soon!

First trip to Shed 2 at the Dallas Farmers Market since the big facelift. Love what they’ve done! Reminds me of Oxbow in Napa. Anyway, on to Rex’s. Excellent quality seafood, incredibly fresh and reasonably priced. Be sure to check out the happy hour with $ 1 gulf oysters and $ 2 east coast with around 10 varieties to choose from. They are both a restaurant and fresh market. So we ate lunch here and bought for dinner at home. Loved both.

The food is fantastic and healthy as well! Great service ! The crab soup cannot be better. Also the seared scallops are so tender and delicious ! Sautéed spinach is magnificent.

People need to eat here. The lunch menu, while pricey, is worth it. They need more business so they stay open. I had the salmon salad and the salmon was cooked to absolute perfection with skin on. Also had the red beans side. Not New Orleans great red beans but good enough for dallas ratings. Regardless I’ll try a different side next time. Other fish orders by our group were well received. No complaints.

Lobster Roll Heaven! We love the Rex’s location on Lovers, and were of course excited to check out their newest location in The Market at the newly renovated Dallas Farmers Market. So glad we did! Highly recommended to anyone in the area! We know all of their seafood is always the freshest/best, but had to stick with our tried and true favorite: Rex’s all mighty Lobster Roll! The toasted bread roll is so light & flaky, the large, chunky lobster [salad] is to die for, and it’s seasoned to perfection(love that they use celery in the lobster salad). We ordered four of them, one with their delicious fries, two with the cheesy grits, and another with their red beans & rice. Yum! We also had to try their Ginger Lobster Bisque for the table to share –absolutely amazing(and came out to our table piping hot, just the way it should be). The sandwiches are accompanied with a small side of arugula greens and a slice of lemon. Perfection! They also have a great selection of wines and beer(I had the Noblio sauvignon blanc –wonderful) and we can’t wait to get back on the weekend to try out their brunch. Absolute deliciousness!

Our first time to this location and we were excited to try it. Overall was very unimpressed. The food and the service were not up to par. The calamari was loosely breaded and very chewy, I can’t confirm that it is frozen but I would not be surprised. The fish in the fish tacos were diced up like it had been in a blender. Not what I would expect or want from a place that claims it serves fresh seafood. The shrimp in the shrimp tacos were very very small and were not deveined. Again, not a huge deal ordinarily but this is a seafood restaurant that bills itself on fresh seafood. The only service blunder was they forgot to ask what sides we wanted and we didn’t know to order sides, assuming it would just come with something. They figured it out when our food was delivered and we had almost finished by the time we got mine. They offered us dessert to make up for it and that finally came as we were walking out the door. The last thing I would add that is a small pet peeve, if I’m spending $ 40 on lunch, give me a napkin that is thicker than tissue paper. Also, the ice tea is not brewed. It comes through a machine.

Moved into the Farmers Market Square area this past summer and have been waiting patiently for Rex’s to open. Now that it’s here we’ve been going over there pretty much daily to check out the menu. Haven’t been disappointed. Everything we’ve ordered has been fresh & delicious. We’ve had oysters, soups, wraps and this weekend the brunch. The wife is still raving about this morning’s crab cake Benedict. We like the ambiance of the new Market and Rex’s Seafood fits in real well. The staff is friendly and personable. We kind of like hanging out there(I hope they don’t get sick of us). Beer on tap and a very delicious jalapeño infused sangria pair well with just about anything on the menu. Highly recommended.

I love that this place is here! Since moving to Dallas from California been so difficult to find good seafood both in restaurant and grocery store. I ordered the Seafood Frittata and it was great! They have fresh oysters so I’ll definitely be back for those very soon. The only thing I would change is the coffee cups. They gave me a paper cup instead of a mug. Otherwise everything was great.

Pretty cool little finish-out at the former Pecan Lodge location in one of the barns at the newly-redone Dallas Farmers Market. Instead of fire-branded cedar walls and smokey bbq pit, we have a clean-looking white tile back wall with brightly-lit and seafood-filled display cases surrounding a nice classic bar with bar stools, which in turn is surrounded by out-laying tables, both tall and short. To clear any confusion for newbies, Rex’s is both a market and a restaurant. I did not realize that for years when driving by the original Highland Park location(Inwood/Lovers) and it prevented my from getting to enjoy some of the best seafood in Dallas. Mind you, they’re quite proud of it($$$), but especially with seafood, you get what you pay for. And at Rex’s, I’ll say simply: you get good! The FM location is a venture by the Rex’s prodigal son, Beau, who even has his own signature salad on the menu. I was there within a week of them opening and so was Beau. I found him to be personable and interested in everyone there. I was delighted to see the wonderful fresh oysters nestled in ice beside the bar and when I ordered a half-dozen(there were 3 varieties from which to choose), Beau is the one who shucked them for me and plated them. And were they good? Ha! Excellent! Very clean and«ocean-y» like they’re supposed to be. After mixing your cocktail sauce from the provided cup of horse radish, ketchup, etc., you’re only sad that you have so much left over and no more oysters to go with. I ended up meeting some friends there and having several of their $ 8 glasses of pinot noir. Rex’s is not a full bar – only beer and wine. We also ordered the crawfish-stuffed hush puppies(excellent) and trout almandine and lemon-caper butter blackened tilapia. All of it was just superb! Rex’s at Farmers Market is kind of weird and may seem a little out of place directly across from the taqueria there, but let’s give it a chance! Really cool to have access to some fantastic fresh seafood within a walk or bike ride of Deep Ellum. Oh! Look for their Sat/Sun brunch! Add it to the list!

Best and freshest seafood in Dallas(next best are the Rex’s locations at Lovers and Mockingbird)! Came on a Thursday night and the bar was full of people having dinner and watching the games on TVs mounted above the bar. We ordered Spicy Tuna Tar as an app — DELICIOUS. Then they brought around samples of the Lobster Bisque and Carrot and Crab, Ginger. Both were amazing but the carrot was especially great. Definitely ordering that next time!(Keep your eyes peeled for a possible add to the apps menu– spicy tuna nachos!!!) Fish tacos are my favorite food and these did not disappoint. They put a bunch of fish in them! WOO! They come with pico and sauce and you get a side — today’s options were spinach, brocollini, mixed veggies, Siracha potatoes, and cheesy grits. I got the spinach and like everything before, it was SOGOOD. You’ve got to get dessert here — the salted caramel ice cream will change your life. And the pies looked amazing too!!! Gotta comment on the customer service — great food coupled with great people. They came over multiple times to make sure we had whatever we needed. This place rocks so if you’re in the neighborhood, definitely put it on your To-Do list! And if you’re not in the neighborhood, get in a car, call an Über, hop on the DART and get down here! I’m already calling myself a regular!

I’ve been a long time customer at Rex’s original location on Lovers. Very glad this spot is open. The original is so good, it’s busy all the time. I’ll be at this location a lot.
