Pompeiii truck was scheduled at my friend“s business to celebrate hospital week. They were a no show. I’d give zero stars if possible.

I was looking forward to trying their food at our company’s employee appreciation event yesterday, but they didn’t show. This overloaded the other trucks at the event, and one ended up running out of food. I later learned that they cashed the deposit check and never returned our calls. This is poor business practice. Please be warned if you’re considering booking them.

These guys were so nice!(Extra star) I ordered the strawberry basil lemonade(double yum) and the fried risotto. Bf had the pasta with vodka sauce. Personally I prefer mine but he loved his. Can’t wait to eat here again.

We had scheduled this truck to arrive at our business for lunch. First the truck was very late – and then(and I am not exaggerating– I wish I was…) the average wait time to get through the line of about 15 people or so and get your food was ANHOURAND15MINS! It seemed they were cooking each order individually instead of mass quantities when clearly someone is going to order one of the 6 items on the menu – why wouldn’t you make more than one serving at a time. Very disappointing and the most inefficient food truck I’ve ever come across. I was hoping to love it as the food looks so good! We got in line at 1:00pm with about 10 people in front of us – ordered at 1:54pm and I am still currently waiting for our food(its 2:17pm). They will text us when it is ready… unacceptable.

This truck can be seen around many popular parts of Dallas. They offer Italian cuisine, nothing too special or mind blowing. I would say that their fired ravioli is really good. They are the perfect crunchiness and come with marinara sauce. At $ 6 for 4 of them, it is a bit pricey, even for food truck food. A couple of negatives that are non-food related: When paying with a card, there is no option to get a receipt(at least I wasn’t offered one). Secondly, they call out your first and last name when your food is ready. I understand there are common names, but for privacy reasons, there is no need to call out both names… just sayin!

The food truck was parked behind our building. I checked out their website for the menu and Unilocal reviews first to see what the general thought was about this truck. Save your money. It’s garbage. First, I was excited to try the risotto balls. However, we were told they were having some problems with their vendor and did not have them available. Disappointment #1, but it happens. So we proceeded to order the baked raviolis. Per the menu and website, it says you receive 7 of these. Unfortunately, I only received 4. This was not a mistake. Several others in our group who ordered also only received 4. For $ 7, I expect a bit more than 4 baked raviolis. I can buy a 1lb bag for $ 3 at the store. They tasted OK. nothing special about them. I also tried the Italian Grilled Cheese sandwich. Bad idea. It was grilled, but it had no flavor and was basically just soggy on the inside. But the absolute worst part of the meal was the marinara sauce. I’m Italian, we take pride in our sauce. This sauce was too thin, and tasted sour. The entire office agreed — the sauce is terrible. Again, save your money. It’s below average food, expensive for what you get, and there was a decent wait. In case you are at my building and were thinking about going down to that truck before they leave — don’t. 1 star!

I visited these folks at the Truck Yard yesterday and although they had some equipment issues that made my order take quite a bit longer than it should, they went way above and beyond to make sure I was happy. This is what customer service is all about, and you don’t see this level of it every day. Very cool, and to me that’s worth an extra star. Food-wise, the risotto balls are(IMHO) the star of the show, at least of the things I have eaten there. Crunchy on the outside, melty cheese and risotto and sausage on the inside, and delicious all around. They’re fantastic! The Italian Grilled Cheese is dang near as good and will also leave a smile on your face. This ain’t your ordinary grilled cheese! I am personally not a huge fan of fried ravioli, but the rest of my party really liked ‘em. Out of two orders there wasn’t so much as a crumb left, so I’d say those were a hit as well. Do yourself a favor next time you see this truck and give it a try, you’ll be glad you did. And get the strawberry basil lemonade! It is a perfect summer thirst quencher, and you do need to take a break from beer from time to time, right? Right?

This rating is NOT about the food quality, it’s about the customer interaction. Jokingly, we asked about the«Explosive» part of their company name making sure we didn’t have to run to the bathroom after eating there. The female interacting with us, I believe was the owner, replied back to us with a sarcastic tone and insulted us for not knowing about the volcano in Italy. We moved on to a different truck to order food. She did come up later and offered us free food, but after that interaction we couldn’t trust to eat it. Pompeii, You’re parked inside a bar, its going to happen a lot more often… Learn how to handle it better.

Having now gotten a good feel for some of Dallas’ more popular food trucks, a hole in my review portfolio had been Pompeii for quite some time now. Fortunately, the twittersphere told me on a bike ride the other day that the popular Italian truck was on my route, and I decided to check it out. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? It’s a food truck, so it’s not as though I was swooned by a fireplace and folded napkin service. However, fast and friendly service had me comfortable while I waited. Can’t ask for more than that. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? This turned out to be my only stumbling block at Pompeii. I opted to go for the«Risotto Balls», being a big fan of everything risotto, and when I was charged $ 6.00, I waited in anticipation of receiving a solid mound of risotto goodness. Here’s what I ended up getting: Hm… don’t get me wrong, this was good stuff, but I was just expecting a bit more. I understand that this is a specialty good, and food trucks charge a premium as it is, but have a look at what I’ve gotten in the past for roughly $ 6.00: Using those for a benchmark, Pompeii simply charges just a bit too much, at least for their risotto balls. I’ll be back in the future to test out the pasta dishes, but this is all I can go on for now. No Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Wow. They were a bit expensive, but hot damn was this a marvelous dish. I’d never even fathomed in the past that you could take creamy risotto and italian sausage used as filling in a fried ball of goodness. The flavors were magical in and of themselves and when they came together it was different from any italian-inspired dish I’ve had in the past. Well done Pompeii. This is unique in every way. Dual Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? So I’m at a crossroads right now. On one hand, my risotto balls were excellent, and I think that everyone should experience them at least once. On the other hand, the price point at Pompeii has me just as drawn to some of the nearby trucks that Pompeii usually rolls with. I’ll be back in the past to try the pasta dishes, but for now? No Star Granted.

First time. Grilled cheese was great… perhaps a little too oily… but that also part of what made it so tasty.

I’ll start by saying, I may have ordered poorly. I ordered the Italian Grilled Cheese. I love cheese– every type, in massive amounts, so this sounded delicious. They said it had an egg wash(think french toast) and it also had«layers» of prociutto and salami. The sandwich was super greasy. It did remind me of french toast– BAD french toast because it was just mushy and soaked. The cheese was good, but the sandwich was bland. No spices or herbs or anything. And as far as the meats— the prociutto and salami— not much of it. Couldn’t really taste it and wasn’t even convinced it was actually prociutto. Besides being very soggy having been dipped in egg and not cooked through and VERY mediocre in flavor, and VERY light in the«layers» of meat— it was $ 8.00. Not large enough or good enough for that price. And finally– I waited about 25 minutes for that sandwich. I will say– their meatball sub looked good, however, next time I go to that food truck park– I’ll probably go to the Cuban one.

Walked over to check out the Thursday night food trucks on Marilla St and found this little gem. It was quite cold out, but it beat having to get in the car and drive some where! The menu was short: 1 app, 2 sandwiches, and 2 pastas. Me and the BF ordered the Arancini(parmesan risotto with spicy sausage and mozzarella fried with a side of home made marinara), the meatball sub, and the fetticini with spicy sausage. We ordered and about 5 minutes later our food was packed and bagged up for the half block walk home. The chef/owner/proprietor of the truck was a really friendly fun lady. She told us a little bit about all of the items we ordered, which made me confident it was going to be good. At home we unpacked our steaming hot food and dug in. The arancini was delicious, not greasy or too heavy even though they were fried, and the marinara was delicious! The fresh pasta was just that, so fresh and flavorful. The spicy sausage was almost too spicy, but the mix of the basil the pecorino and the marinara kept it all together. The meatball sub was a monster! Big fresh meatballs, tons of mozzarella and sauce. It was probably my favorite thing we ordered. About 10 minutes later our feast was gone, and we were both satisfied. We will definitely be back next time the truck is on our street! At $ 22 for our whole meal, its definitely worth the price for fresh locally made food. I might try the italian grilled cheese with prosciutto next time, or I might go back for the meatball sub. We shall see.

I had the meatball sub. Delicious all beef meatballs, So big you have to take a few bites to get through them. The sauce is Absolutely delicious! There is so much cheese on this sub that it just drips out with sauce. This food truck is amazing and staffed by some pretty amazing people. Check them out
