We went out to Dallas for my favorite restaurant. It turned out that they change their hours and now closed on Sunday’s. It was a bummer but we wanted to make the most of our drive out there and find something new that wouldn’t disappoint compared to what we were already craving that day. I found and looked at reviews of places nearby and we decided on Nova based on reviews, photos, and menu items. I’m go glad we chose it! If you’re in search of a new brunch adventure, Nova in Oakcliff, is a must try! You’ll walk into a retro-style gastropub with a patio option. The waitress and owner were super friendly and upbeat. There was amazing live acoustic musicians playing during brunch. They have an extensive bar selection and brunch drink specials. And the food. Wow! I ordered the smoked salmon Benedict and my husband ordered the chicken friend pork loin. Bring and appetite! Ps. Order the salmon potato skins. Don’t think, just do it! So amazing!

I came here for brunch many months ago. I remember walking in with a reservation, but since the restaurant was half empty, we got to choose our table and we picked a booth in the corner. The restaurant is very casual and it reminds me of a classy diner even though it isn’t a diner. The waitress was very nice and attentive. She kept water and mimosas coming through our time there. Speaking of mimosas, they were good and not diluted with too much juice. We decided to order two entrees to share. The Smoked Salmon Benedict was pleasing. The salmon had a nice smoky flavor and went well with the hollandaise. The Lobster Frittata was underwhelming. There was hardly any lobster and I wouldn’t have known it was lobster if I hadn’t looked for it because the taste of it was not there. The frittata was thin and hollow in texture. It wasn’t fluffy with any type of good flavor. It was bleh. The roasted potatoes that came with each entrée were delicious. There wasn’t anything so great about the food that wanted me to visit again. I even forgot to write this review, so it wasn’t too memorable. But, it wasn’t bad either. I’d like to give them another try.

We stumbled across this place on our way to the Kessler and have driven over 60 miles to eat here again and again. The menu/food is exceptional and the atmosphere friendly and lively. Weekend brunch was yummy; had to come back on Sunday; live jazz music was an extra treat! Can’t wait to tryout items on all the menus.

Came here with a group of 40 people, the day after a wedding. The venue is a nice size, the area was very upcoming it seemed liked the art district. I would also say its definitely woof friendly, my friend was bothered by the man size dog next to her which prevented her from eating lol. The brunch menu didn’t have a large scale of selections due to certain items being out of stock which limited options. Several people in our party ordered chicken and waffles most people ate it and some didn’t saying it was kinda bland. I mean what do you expect? Texas is not known for its chicken and waffles lol, I ordered the Blt it was awesome no complaints I felt like I needed to be rolled out the door. The owner visited our table several times to check on our group, everyone felt the love well if they didn’t maybe the mimosas flow jaded them. I must say they are super generous in Texas. We had a large party, and didn’t get a a gratuity charge added sweet. I would visit this place again if I was in the Dallas-forth worth area.

Went here last Sat for the first time. The time only allowed us the late night menu but the brisket burger was what I saw on the menu before I got there and they were serving it. Split the burger and it’s a Win! Add in the Mac n cheese, fries fried in rice oil– absolutely incredible! The salmon potato skins were the perfect taste and texture. The Left Hand Milk Stout I was craving hit the spot just right. Newer to the menu was the deconstructed fig cookie pie containing sweet cream goats milk, pineapple, raspberry, cocoa, and crushed dried banana chips. It was the perfect ending for this late night dining experience. Will def be back earlier to explore the other menu options!

Awesome vibes, cool décor, great service, eclectic and tasty food. Ask for the dessert menu to try the different taste that will leave you wanting more. Open late with a limited, but good menu. Brisket burger & fries, Mac & Cheese and salmon potato skins. Nice!

Arrived at NOVA for Brunch @ 11:30 on this beautiful sunny Sunday. Right away, we were greeted by Arlo, the beautiful 8 week old ½ Great Pyrenees ½ Australian Shepherd puppy. Too darn cute! Erin R., immediately seated us at a perfect little table on the screened-in patio. There was a nice cool breeze as we looked over the menu. Arlo’s human parents immediately started up some friendly conversation & a couple of the waiters chimed in, as well. Hmmm, I thought, «this is going well, right from the get-go.» Musician, Grant Bravdrick started playing as soon as we arrived. Great musician! We first ordered the Nova Signature Mimosa’s…pretty darn delicious! I also ordered a mango tea. Hubby really was undecided on what he wanted to order for his entrée, so he ordered the Smoked Ham Sandwich with melted brie with fig jam, for an appetizer & we split it. It was absolutely delicious! He then ordered the Farm Fresh Egg, Applewood Smoked Bacon Pizza, topped with Gruyère, Fresh Tomatoes & Onion. It was so Yummy! He took half home for dinner. I ordered Chicken Fried Pork Loin Stack with 2 eggs sunny side up, Jimmy’s sausage gravy atop toast. Mmmm… it will keep me coming back, that’s for sure! Our waitress, Erin R., could not have been better. She was friendly, attentive and was knowledgeable about the menu and all of the fresh ingredients. Nova is a comfortable, friendly laid back restaurant. It’s the perfect place to dine alone, if you’re a couple or with a large group. Although we didn’t sit at the bar, it was really pretty and there were lots of folks having a good time. I like everything about NOVA. I love that it serves up Fresh Farm-to-Table ingredients. I’ll certainly be back often. Thanks, Erin R., for a great«first visit» experience at NOVA!

I went here yesterday for brunch with a gal pal, and we both loved it! The location was different than I imagined with such a name and location as Nova in this artsy area; I was expecting one of those trendy brunch places that are so common nowadays.(They are great, but sometimes one needs a break from them!) I loved the casual feel and the family atmosphere of the place. Our waitress was friendly and recommended a few of the brunch drinks(Novamosa sounds great, but I did not drink, so I will have to try it next time). We ordered the veal hash, which was delicious, though the food at the edges of the plate was a bit cold by the time it came out with our breakfast pizza. I recommend the veal hash, as the pieces of meat were juicy, and the onions and pieces of Yukon Gold potato were well-flavored and added to the dish. The poached egg and hollandaise on top drew everything together. The breakfast pizza sounded better than its execution, mostly because the eggs on top were not cooked quite enough for my taste. Still, it was a novelty, and I am glad we tried it. I took the leftovers home for a second meal. I will come here again to try the smoked salmon benedict!

I’ll keep this short and sweet. The service is A+, the food is fantastic(read: SALMONPOTATOSKINS!), and it has that cool 50’s-60’s diner vibe. This place won’t let you down.

We came here on Saturday for brunch which was busier than the norm according to the waitress. I felt bad for her ’cause apparently she was the only person handling the entire floor so… things were a little slow. Good thing we didn’t have a time limit but hopefully in the future they will have more than one person on staff. They are known for their bloody mary drinks which has some kind of secret ingredient. According to other members in my group, that bloody drink was really good(I couldn’t get past the tomato taste). I tried the novamosa and that was pretty good! Sweet with a slight hint of alcohol. For entrees, I recommend the smoked salmon benedict which you can definitely taste the smokiness of the salmon. It was a fairly large plate and filled me up quickly. The veal hash was also amazing! The meat was super soft, juicy, and everything on that plate complemented each other. Another great dish to try is the french toast casserole. This is not your typical french toast. There is sweet goat cheese mixed with strawberry syrup. I don’t really like goat cheese but the cheese they used wowed me. Overall, great place for brunch and recommend you checking it out.

Outstanding service /presentation of food is 5 star /definitely a must visit if in Dallas. Business traveler here and will make this my escape getaway when local. New York cannot compare to the pies. Spinach is my favorite.

I’m so surprised by these negative reviews regarding service. From the minute I walked in, to the end of our meal, we received great service. I had a party of 15 for brunch and while we waited for everyone to show up, the owner/manager offered us two huge orders of French toast to share.(It was amazing by the way). We ordered a variety of drinks, with our favorite being the Novamosa(a mimosa + cranberry vodka) Brunch cocktails were reasonably priced. Food was great. I would definitely come back for brunch but also want to check out dinner. Highs– Novamosa cocktail, French toast, smoked salmon Benedict Lows– Mojito(skip it!) Fried pork loin(salty, overrated, try something else)

A group of us came for brunch on a Saturday. Nova is a cute little place with a vintage diner feel. Unique décor and the waitstaff were very friendly. We asked our waiter for recommendations and she suggested the chicken fried pork loin. She said it’s a lot of food, and even told us a story of how a customer had a heart attack after eating it! :0. Three of us ended up ordering the dish, and we were not disappointed. She wasn’t kidding when she warned us about the portion size! The pork was crunchy and tender, sauce was flavorful, even their ranch was good. My only critique is that our eggs were a bit undercooked. I could still see bits of clear egg white. Overall a good experience, and I got enough leftovers for a second brunch!

I haven’t been to Nova in quite some time and was happy to see it has still there. Nova definitely has a throwback style and feel, think late 60’s. When you walk in you’ll see wrap around bar on the far wall and diner style booths along the windows with a few tables here and there. The menu is as unique at the restaurant itself. It’s fairly small and simply to read, but by no means making a decision is easy. The menu contains several small plates, fresh salads, pizza, and of course big plates. LOL! After looking through the menu I decided on the Chicken Fried Pork Loin, OMG! This was the first time of ever had Country Fried Pork Loin, which was sitting on a bed of Country Mashed Potatoes and covered in Jimmy’s Sausage Gravy! I don’t know who Jimmy is, but this was the best sausage gravy I’ve ever had, seriously! The Pork Loin was so tender and juicy, not moist! Juicy! The seasoning was spot on and that gravy, I can’t get over it. LOL! The service was extremely friendly and gracious, our waitress came and checked the table often, but not so much that she was disrupting. Beyond our dinner, I noticed the warm and friendly nature of Nova. Several people seem to be regulars, just enjoying a meal and a few drink while watching the game on the TV at the bar. We couldn’t hear the TV at all. Nova actually has a good mix of mood music playing in the background, but not too loud, so you could truly have a conversation. Nova is one place I will definitely be coming back too.

Once apon a time I wrote a horrible review of this place. That was almost 2 years ago and things have seriously changed in the kitchen. The menu is fresh and interesting and the drinks are well made. Service at the table can get spotty when they are busy and it can get really busy. This seems to be the standard neighborhood fav… I think everything has improved so much… but can’t bring myself to give it 5 stars… it’s just not an OMG over the top experience for me when I go.

If you want remarkable unique eats, intriguing drinks, exemplary service and décor w/history look no further. From the moment we walked into the door(JD) treated us like we have been coming there for years. RJ was prompt, knowledgeable and offered suggestions. JD, thank you for the amazing chicken asian thai salad to cleanse our pallets. We started off w/the Smoked Salmon potato skins(just try them it’s worth it.) Then we ordered — Goat Cheese Gnocchi — delicious — Roasted Chicken — Nice char w/some black pepper in a great sauce(GETIT!) (2) Drinks to try: — Nova 75(champagne inspired cocktail) — Berry Amsterdam Mule — 1 of the best mule’s I will be back soon, thanks for making us feel welcomed

Nova is truly a gem of Bishop Arts. When I think of Bishop Arts, Nova is always on my list of places to visit. It’s a local staple and it has so much to offer. It’s really easy to stop by and have a tasty beverage. A lot of the regulars are people that live in the neighborhood and can from home. Nova isn’t some kind of corporate creation, it’s blended space and the community supports it wholeheartedly. The staff is one of the best in town. They are friendly, social and most of all filled with love. You will always find a smiling face with great menu recommendations. Nova has a great brunch menu. I had the french toast casserole… absolutely wonderful. It’s the kind of thing my grandmother would’ve made when I was a kid. Yesterday I had the 4 meat pizza. Oh dear. another great and consistent item from the kitchen. Don’t expect Chicago or NY style pizza. this is a Dallas style creation. And it’s enough to for 2 people to share or 1 person to eat and have left overs to take home. There’s a few items on the dinner menu that I’m aching to try. If there are local events such as the Mardi Gras parade, this is a great place. The parade starts right in front of Nova. Nova is known to have live music for special events with the parking lot closed off for a block party type atmosphere. Hands down this is great place to bring a date or just make some new friends. Do yourself a favor and get here early.

Super-Nova This is my go to place. Always fun, filled with some of The OC’s finest bar goers. I can always strike up a conversation with anyone at the bar. The vibe here is so friendly, the people so diverse, the bartenders so willing to pour me yet another cocktail :))) The food is almost always satisfying, interesting and served by wonderful servers. From the Smoked Salmon potato skins, to the burger, to the pizza’s to interesting entrée’s, there is always something I want to eat on the menu. Hits all the right buttons. But did I mention the bar? LOVE it! Nova is one of the reasons I love this part of town. NO pretension. Actually, I think I might head over there in just a bit :) Cheers!
