The Maitre D’ is amazing. Great customer service all around. The problem was everything was so salty. They are very heavy handed when it comes to salt, so make sure to ask for no salt…

Mister G’s Restaurant Dallas. Dinner meeting turned interesting based on an impromptu change of restaurants. Originally we were slotted for a 5:30pm dinner at Capital Grille in Plano, but due to some unexpected changes we ended up dining at this establishment. You wouldn’t know there is a restaurant behind the main hotel lobby of the DFW Grand Hyatt, yet there it is, hosted by an English gentleman who is reminiscent of Alfred from Batman. «Alfred» was very polite and accommodating considering we had no formal reservations, slowly walking us by a carved wooden door, leading directly into a dark almost sinister dining room reminiscent of an «eyes wide shot» scene(without masked nude people of course). The wait staff was very formal and extremely polite with the exception of a younger busboy who was clearly very green. Our server introduced himself and immediately provided detailed information about the menu and specials. We asked for signature dishes and then decided to order some of the key classics such as crab cakes, foie gras to start, a small cup of onion soup, a special consisting of Chilean Sea Bass, scallops and shrimp with a side of mushrooms and mashed potatoes as the main course, finishing off with a fruit tart and a shot of espresso. The crab cake was comprised of shrimp and fresh crab meat adorned by some tangy sauce and some kind of tomato-corn confit and sliced avocado atop of it. The flavors worked well together and I quite enjoyed it. The onion soup came out with a thin layer of melted cheese covering a small piece of brioche dunk right beneath it. The flavor was light and pleasant with slight hints of reduced red wine, not bad, but not the best I’ve had. In between courses the busboy came by once dropping a piece of bread covered in melted cheese and almond slivers, I thought it was a bit unusual, and certainly I wouldn’t have expected it at this kind of restaurant. The busboy called me «man» a couple of times which I thought was disrespectful and uncouth, then again he spoke little English therefore I gave him the benefit of the doubt. The entrée followed the«strange bread» along with its sides of mashed potatoes and wild mushrooms. The sea bass was cooked perfectly and so were the accompanying shrimp and scallops, however they were a bit insipid, laying on a bed of wilted spinach and uncooked veggies. This entrée didn’t work at all for me at many levels, the presentation was mediocre, and the sides were completely out of place. Finally the dessert came and I have to say I was really shocked by how hard the crust was on the tart, I literally had to use brute force to break it apart. It was passable, but nothing special. The dessert was immediately followed by the longest single shit of espresso I have ever had, that is to say it was drinkable but not a proper espresso. All and all this establishment has a great hosting and serving staff, except for the busboy, relaxing ambiance, but the food is only so so. I have been to many restaurants here in Dallas, and considering the cost there are much better choices.

The atmosphere is great, Charlie the maitre de was AWESOME. Would love to have a room like this at my home. The service was extraordinary. We had a lamb chop entrée as an appetizer so we’re quite full afterward. The four of us split 2 ribeyes with our spouse and they said they would manage the halves. I was totally disappointed that the steaks came out butterflied ordered as med-rare and not cross cut for the halves. I’m pretty sure this will keep me from returning.

I love unexpected things. I mean, I was just minding my business at a sales conference at an airport hotel in Dallas and BOOM, I end up at Mister G’s. For starters its hidden(love that!) and its dark and tiny. The place seats maybe 40 people and books up fast! Luckily the incredibly charming & distinguished host was taken by my cute colleague and he gave us a table for 3 that was intended for 2 and made sure we were comfortable. Our servers were super attentive and kind. This place is old school and the menu very traditional, steak, salads, potatoes and heavy desserts, but it felt different. The thing I did notice was that the wine list was kinda cruddy and expensive. While that didn’t take away from the experience, it would have definitely improved it. The host came over and engaged us in some amazing stories and made sure we were enjoying ourselves. This was a welcome break from our work talk that consumed dinner. In the end, we were entertained, relaxed and stuffed. All the makings of a great dining experience!

if you can get over the overpriced and underwhelming wine list(BV Cab for $ 75??), this is a reasonable restaurant. the caesar salad made at the table was a little overdressed, but not terrible, the steaks and lamb chops were nicely done, correct temperature. Overall, whelmed. neither over nor under.

Total hidden gem! Old school vibe. Incredible lobster bisque, Caesar salad and mixed grill of bison filet, venison and lamb. Amazing dinner! Completely unexpected.

Since January, we’ve hosted two company dinners at Mister G’s at DFW. First let me say that I was a bit cautious about booking an «airport» restaurant, but had heard a lot of great reviews from other event planners. Mister G’s did not disappoint. The service was excellent and the food was fresh, wonderfully prepared, steaming hot, and delicious. Our event attendees raved about dinner(both times). I would highly recommend Mister G’s to anyone looking for a great, real, dinner at DFW. Hey, it’s the bright side of that cancelled flight or 4 hour layover. Treat yo’self.

Who knew this was located at DFW? Great find! Went here for a business dinner this week. I’ve been in the Dallas area my entire life and had no clue this restaurant was inside the Hyatt Regency at DFW. Started the meal with a French Onion soup followed by a Caesar salad. I can’t forget to mention the garlic cheese bread. Yum. I tried the tuna as my entrée and it was perfect. The best part of the meal was the dessert, Crème brûlée with fresh fruit. Very tasty! The bar scene was also lively. Not a bad option if you need a steakhouse while at DFW.

The food was a tad above good but the steak was still not done the way I asked but it made up for it in flavor. The service was excellent and the best it can get in Dallas. Anyone visiting or living Dallas who likes fine dining should definitely have Mister G’s on their list.

This is truly a one of a kind restaurant, a hidden gem for sure. We had no idea what this place would be like, but we heard great things and were excited to dine here. Upon arrving at the airport, we found the parking area and made our way through the hotel. We had to ask where the restaurant was located because we couldn’t find a sign… and good thing we asked because it’s tucked away in the very back of the hotel! There was an older gentleman standing at a podium that said Mister G’s and we were thinking. wow, this is kinda cool! He greeted us with a huge smile and he was so excited for us to be dining at Mister G’s~ it was a very warm welcome indeed. I actually had to call a couple days earlier to change my reservation and then on the day of, I had to call to let them know we were running late. He was very accommodating and thankfully he reserved our table(we were almost 20minutes late! Sorry!) As we were taken into the restaurant and seated at our table, we noticed it was kind of dark and a little stuffy with an interesting smell… I wasn’t exactly sure what it was, but it wasn’t all too pleasant. Good thing the smell went away as soon as we got our food. We ordered the french onion soup and my friends were raving about it, saying it’s THE best french onion soup they’ve ever had. Taking a spoonful, good gracious it was SOOODELICIOUS! We were definitely off to a great start to our dinner. For our entrée we ordered the bison, the rib eye steak, and the pork chop. All our dishes were pretty good, but the rib eye definitely was the best out of the three. Our service was excellent from the time we were greeted to the end of the meal. Our waiter was nice enough to give us the history of this restaurant and he told us that all the waiters and the other staff have been there for 15−20+ years each! That shows true dedication and loyalty, meaning that this place must be doing something right. It’s such a small restaurant so making a reservation is recommended. Although the smell kind of came back at the end of the meal, I just brushed it off because we had such a great meal and dining experience. If you’re a traveler and you’re passing through DFW, definitely check this restaurant out!

After missing my connecting flight in Dallas my colleagues and I went to spend the night at the Hyatt and discovered Mr. Gs. It made missing the flight worthwhile! The service was amazing, the ambience was cozy, warm and intimate and the food was outstanding. The somalier gave us a great recommendation for wine, the steak was melt-in-your mouth and the desserts were FANTASTIC! I will need to spend the next two weeks at the gym, but it was worth it. The only critism was that the sea bass we ordered was bland and not very flaky. Stick with the meat, scallops and shrimp and you’ll do well here.

Mister G’s is definitely an old-school steakhouse, along the lines of the old«gourmet» rooms you used to find in so many Vegas hotels(and can still be found at Michael’s at South Point). Stiff drinks, prime steaks cooked to perfection, and impeccable service delivered by the same crew that has worked there since the place opened in the 70’s. And yes, it is ridiculously expensive. Just like Vegas. However, if you are in the hotel, or have a long layover, and you are in the mood for a cocktail and a big steak, give it a try. It is certainly waaay better than anything you will find within the airport. Just make sure you bring the platinum card.

Caesar salad was tasty but a little heavy handed with the dressing. Ended up a little soggy.

Like the previous reviewer. «Mister G’s is the type of place that your grandfather and his buddies frequent, or perhaps where your boyfriend would take you to propose. Dark, sexy — a retro throwback to steakhouses of yore, when the Rat Pack ruled the airwaves and cholesterol didn’t matter. Super pricey entrees will get you super attentive service, but maybe that’s just because I was one of two lone diners in the establishment when I stopped in last week.» Not anything to add or take away. To sum it up, Smells like old money!

Mister G’s is the type of place that your grandfather and his buddies frequent, or perhaps where your boyfriend would take you to propose. Dark, sexy — a retro throwback to steakhouses of yore, when the Rat Pack ruled the airwaves and cholesterol didn’t matter. Super pricey entrees will get you super attentive service, but maybe that’s just because I was one of two lone diners in the establishment when I stopped in last week. The«new» bartender still managed to make a decent Manhattan, the tomato and goat cheese salad was to die for and they serve a happy little duo of chocolate apple fondue skewers to close out the meal. I had a seabass/shrimp/scallop special and quite honestly, it was nothing special. I appreciated the use of citrus in the dish, but wasn’t wowed by the bitter aspect the grapefruit added. The seabass was lovely, and the giant shrimp(while overcooked) were probably my favorite part, but the scallops just had that chewy«I’ve been frozen» texture that I so dread. The sommelier recommended a lovely California(Sawyer) Sauv Blanc that did indeed go well with the seafood. All of the staff, from the host to the many servers, busboys and aforementioned sommelier were fantastic. Mister G’s is lovely, though certainly not the best steakhouse in the world, and with a pricetag that puts your expectations high, I don’t know that it’s worth a special trip to an airport hotel. Given that, and the fact that it’s a bit pricey for your average traveler, I fear for them in the long run.
