This diner was everything I dreamed it would be and more! My husband and I went to Canada for our honeymoon and are now expecting our first baby in a couple of weeks, so I wanted to recreate our honeymoon in Dallas as a last little staycation. The poutine(specifically the pot roast poutine) was directly on par with the several places we tried poutine in Nova Scotia. My husband had the Flagship Chicken Sandwich and loved it! We also split the fried pickles(the sauce is amazing) and several cookies(all delicious). We will definitely be back soon; I want to try breakfast/brunch!

I so badly wanted to love this place. Kitsch décor coupled with awesome staff deserve a 5 star. We ordered the perogies and the pot roast poutine. The perogies were really good. Stuffed to the max with mashed potatoes with a nice soft shell. Where they failed me was in the poutine. The gravy tasted bottled and the meat had a very odd flavor. Standard french fries with cheese curds. Maybe next time I will opt out of the pot roast option.

Excellent breakfast and service. I had Canadian eggs Benedict which was delicious. It was more of a ham than a piece of Canadian bacon. Eggs were cooked well. We also had the bacon eggs and waffles which is huge! They serve it with strawberries on top of waffles and we tried the blueberry pancakes. This place is much better than your typical diner. They even have fresh cookies too. Our server was Breanna. She was attentive and was so nice. If I come back to Dallas, I’ll make sure to stop by again.

I don’t get all the hype. The food was average at best. The Canadian bacon was flavorless. Breakfast potatoes were light and fluffy and delicious. Eggs were eggs. Englis muffin was just that too. Waffles and pancakes looked awesome, but… I asked whether the syrup was pure maple and was given some canned spiel about«I’m not really sure if it has corn syrup or not…» A place that banks on being Canadian and doest serve real 100% Maple syrup? At these prices? Even Cracker Barrel has Maple Syrup! I did appreciate the fact that they seemed to have some hustle in cleaning tables and getting people seated ASAP. Food took a while to come out though.

Chicken and waffles are great and the onion rings have a flavorful, savory Thanksgiving taste.

Perhaps closer to a 3.5 star rating. Basic diner breakfast food — good, a few notches above IHOP(but don’t get me wrong, for what it is I actually like IHOP). Service was a little chaotic you could feel the rush and the stress of the servers. Husband: Chicken fried chicken — good flavor, good texture. The pancakes pretty delicious. Total score: 3.75 Me: Waffle Trio: I liked the chewiness of the waffle, sausage links pretty good, eggs just okay. 3.75 I was curious to try the poutine having never had eaten it before but I think I’ll just wait till we visit Canada.

The food was OK but the service was not so good. They need to work on their customer service skills if they want to stay ahead of the game. I had high expectations after having an amazing brunch at Hash House a Go-Go a couple of weeks ago but left not feeling excited to go back to Maple Leaf Diner again.

Wow! My three girlfriends and I came here for brunch. I had the Denver omelet, Sham had the glorious chicken, waffles, and bacon, Myca had the eggs Benedict, and Caroline had the French toast. We all sampled off of each other’s plates and each dish was equally amazing. The owner is so friendly and our waiter was also attentive and sweet! I can’t wait to bring my SO here. 5 stars-well deserved! Thank you!

This place is fantastic. I am a big breakfast and brunch fan. This place was great. We split the blueberry pancake special. It was more than enough for two people. It included 2 eggs, 2 pieces bacon and sausage. Plus toast. We also had coconut cream pie that was very solid and homeade. They have a wonderful selection of pies, cookies, and bars. I will be back.

The poutine rocks, and I really liked the turkey burger. Daughter loved the fried chicken platter and hubs enjoyed his pierogis. They still haven’t gotten service down fully, but it’s coming along. Bonus points for a gluten free bun option and a decent kids menu. Cute, casual décor, yummy cookies. Worth a try for sure.

We came here for the poutine and left disappointed with our experience. From the moment we sat down until the moment we left, we felt rushed. I wasn’t even situated in my chair when he asked us what we wanted for an appetizer. He then proceeded to read off today’s specials and immediately asked for our order; we didn’t even have the chance to open the menu. I told him we checked-in for our free cookies, and he ran over to grab us 2. I would’ve just preferred the mental note to bring us them later, but he zoomed away before I could communicate anything. He was pushy about us ordering soon, and we were frazzled. Food came out, and not even 5 minutes later, so did the check. I was chatting with my boyfriend and slowly nibbling at my pancakes when he interrupted and asked to take them away. They had BARELY been touched! All of that just made us feel unwelcome — I was expecting more friendliness from a Canadian-inspired diner. For $ 1 more, the pot roast poutine had plenty of meat, and the meat: fries ratio was on point. The breakfast items were okay, seemed rather generic. Eggs benedict, blueberry pancake special, and pot roast poutine came out to $ 35 before tip. The portions were generous, and we had plenty of leftovers. Our poutine craving was satisfied, but I don’t think we’ll be coming back anytime soon — especially not for the breakfast foods nor poor service.

Being from Canada, I love eating some good poutine… unfortunately, the places around in Dallas that offers poutine has disappointed me until I found this place! Their poutine here is definitely authentic… fries, brown gravy, cheese curds… yum! I also ordered the canadian bacon breakfast in which you get two large pieces of canadian bacon, two eggs, your choice of bread(i got english muffin). My girlfriend ordered the chicken and waffles, which i tried, and it was delicious as well! I would definitely come back to this place, even if it was just to order some poutine and wash it down with some Labatt Blue!!!

Heart attack waiting to happen but at least you’ll die happy. Friendly service. Massive portions and very heavy. You don’t get a salad when you come here … Why would you when the menu has all those options?! Also, it’s better to share so you get to try a little of everything. Otherwise, it’s just too much for a single person. Canadian poutine was good. Cheese curd, melted cheese, fries and gravy. Fried chicken and waffles with bacon… Must get! It’s filled with whipped cream and strawberries. The waffle was well made. The chicken wasn’t too bad. But you get distracted by all the deliciousness. Pizza burger… features on food network. Combination of 2 classic favorites… Not to mention that it has a giant fried mozzarella patty in the middle. Can’t eat this by yourself. You might really have a heart attack. The lox Benedict was the reason it didn’t get 5stars. Too heavy on the hollandaise sauce with too much butter infused throughout the dish. Not a fan. Check-in to Unilocal and try a cookie. Nice filling in the middle to finish off the meal.

–1 star for the hostess… Young lady who didn’t even acknowledge us when we walked in and spoke to us so rudely when taking us to our seats… +4 for our great waitress! Older American lady with glasses who greeted us so jolly and took our order right away. She refilled our water quickly and gave us everything we needed even before asking! Food was bomb! Get the waffle, chicken and bacon combo!

I would recommend this place a thousand times if I could. I would like this place a thousand times on Facebook if I could. Maple Leaf Diner has wonderful service & excellent food. My waiter Patsy was very very good. He provided me with some great recommendations in which made it was so hard to choose what actually get. I drove all the way from Austin, TX to visit once again & once again they did not disappoint me. Again, I would truly recommend Maple Leaf Diner to all if you love great food, great service & great overall small restaurant feeling. Can’t wait to go back again.

I came here this morning with my hubby and another couple. We found this spot on Unilocal and were lured in by the rave reviews and large portion sizes. Our party planned to meet at the diner around 11am(Saturday). Luckily, hubby and I arrived a tad earlier and only waited five minutes before we were seated. The diner is located in a strip mall off of 635 and Preston road. It is easy to find and there is plenty of parking. The decorations inside are eclectic and interesting. I enjoyed the mugs hanging from the entryway and then was confused by the faux partition in the middle of the restaurant(held up by chairs) that still had the price tag visible. Our waitress was friendly and not overbearing. She answered our menu questions and all of our waters were promptly refilled. The hubby and I each ordered the chefs favorite. Mine came with pancakes, scrambled eggs, six bacon slices, fresh fruit and toast. The pancakes were decorated with a cream puff. The food was good. I ate everything on my plate and was full. I enjoyed the bacon, and was confused by the toast. Seeing that the meal came with either French toast or pancakes, the side of toast seemed out of place. Breakfast potatoes would have made more sense. If you check in on Unilocal, you get a free cookie. Make sure to save room or get it to go. I would definitely come back here again for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

I love diner food so when I saw MLD on Unilocal I had to check it out. A diner with a Canadian flair. Interesting. What attracted me was how they stack their waffles and burgers.(Photo worthy!) We went here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Pretty packed restaurant, but the wait was less than 5 minutes. Here’s what we got: Lox Benedict & Latkes $ 13.99 — Toasted English muffin with smoked salmon, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce and dill served with potato latkes(aka hash browns), fresh fruit and sour cream or apple sauce. I am used to the salmon on cream cheese and a bagel(like how they have it at Einstein Bros). But the way they make it at MLD was pretty good! I would have to order this again next time. If you like eggs benedict and nova lox, then try this dish! Their potato latkes were a bit on the mushy side. Although their fruit and applesauce portions are tiny, the benedict and potato latkes take up the entire plate. Pizza Burger — Featured on the Food Network $ 9.99 — topped with sautéed pepperoni, bacon, bell and hot peppers, Bolognese sauce, fried mozzarella cheese crowned with breaded mushrooms served with dip. If you like pizza like me, why not try it in a burger style! Portion is pretty good. It’s very cheesy and greasy(and probably not the healthiest meal), but hey. it’s good! The breaded mushrooms were delish! Chicken, Bacon & Waffles $ 12.99– Fried chicken breast and crispy bacon served on stacked Belgium waffles, topped with fresh strawberries and cream puffs. Cream puffs were good. The waffles are pretty good too — crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Chicken breast was ok. Portion is huge. It’s like having lunch AND dessert on one plate. Décor is «entertaining» with their coffee cups, pots, pans, and plates attached to the ceilings and walls. You can’t help but think, «is it gonna fall on someone’s head?!» Service was slow and non-existent(or it’s just our server), but I will definitely be back because the food was good! Free cookie with a Unilocal check-in! They also serve wine, mimosas, and beer. Besides the service, I would have to give this place 5 stars – my fav. diner so far.

I came here again from for lunch. I ordered the Diner Burger. Big ass burgers. If you like really crispy bacon they have it. My new favorite spot to dine. I can’t get enough. I’ll be here again for a brunch. This time I had the Pizza Burger that was also featured on the food network. Bookmark this place and get to it! What are you waiting for? This place is as advertised. I came here with a group of 5 and everyone ordered different items. It all looked amazing and everyone said it was delicious. I ordered the Flagship Crispy Chicken Sandwich(crispy or grilled). I had to take an aerial shot of it because it was towering. Now I know why this sandwich was featured on the Food Network. Words to describe it are amazing, delicious, fit for a king, yummy. Oh if you check in thru Unilocal you get a free cookie. The people here are nice and attentive. I found a place near the office that I will frequent.

Food(5⁄5) There’s a stereotype that Canadians are way happier and more polite than Americans. And by golly, if it’s because they get to eat food as delicious as Maple Leaf Diner’s on a regular basis, then I am no longer surprised about their happier demeanor so thank goodness for this little piece of Canadian heaven in Dallas! First things first: POUTINE. Pronounced like poo-teen(I know, not super appealing sounding), this dish is three awesome things mixed together: french fries, gravy, and cheese curds! Though not thick-cut, the fries had a good heartiness to them. The gravy wasn’t super overbearing /salty, and the cheese tends to melt over time based on the heat of the fries, so you get this awesome, gooey cheesiness. If you’re coming with two people, the ½ portion is more than enough(you DO want room for entrees, right?), but a larger group may warrant the full size. And next: BREAKFASTFOODS. UNTIL3PM. EVERYYYYDAY!!! Breakfast foods are sort of the way to my heart, but I am no early riser so brunches are my JAM. But the fact that Maple Leaf Diner has select breakfast items available all day(helloooo, chicken, bacon, and waffles) or all breakfast items until 3PM makes my belly happy. And lastly: HEARTYPORTIONS. Like generous. Like my belly is bursting with brunch happiness. I’ve tried the(1) Chicken, Bacon, and Waffles,(2) REAL Canadian Bacon Breakfast, and(3) Eggs & Bacon or Sausage. Guys, ALLOFTHEM were huge in portion size and amazing(and some had crazy /impressive /vertically-inclined plating too)!! Waffles were perfectly crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. Fried chicken was juicy. Home fries were BOMB — so much flavor in that little potato chunk. Probably the only thing that didn’t live up to expectations were the pancakes — they weren’t as fluffy or «buttermilky» as I like them to be, but seriously… everything else is top-notch, so this is something I can easily overlook. Service(4⁄5) This place is bumping during breakfast /brunch time, so do expect a wait sometimes. Once you’re seated though, the waiters are great. Despite the huge influx of customers, they have been attentive to make sure the food was great, syrups were provided, and waters were filled. Atmosphere(5⁄5) Maple Leaf Diner is too stinkin’ cute. I’m not sure if it’s the little cups hanging from the ceiling when you first walk in or the assortment of decorative plates against the main wall, but Maple Leaf really evokes a homey feel. The space is clean and very open in space. There’s an assortment of table or booth seating. Most groups I see are ~4 people, but I have also seen the staff join tables to seat groups as large as 8 people. Overall, Maple Leaf Diner is such a cute little joint. It is definitely on my personal short list of Dallas brunch spots, so do come by to check it out if you’re in the mood for a hearty breakfast or a little bite of Canada :)
