I really liked this place. I recommend it. The house margaritas were great as was the salsa and bean dip. The guacamole was so-so. The bacon wrapped shrimp was great. I would definitely eat here again.

Hands down the best Mexican restaurant I’ve eaten at since moving to the area. The food is superb! The bacon wrapped shrimp was a party in my mouth.

There was a group of five of us. We sat out on the patio and America was our waitress. We had chips and back bean sauce and salsa as soon as we sat down. We ordered chori quest which was awesome. The margaritas were excellent both frozen and flaquita and on the rocks.

Went here for lunch, not sure what I got. Recommendation from my waitress. It had very good flavor may have been a little greasy. Place was very clean and not that old worn out Mexican decorations everywhere that I often see.

I have no idea why this restaurant has four and a half stars. The«top shelf margarita» was weak and the food was average at best. The fajita chicken was dry and there were way too many onions and not enough peppers. The only plus to this restaurant was the complementary chips salsa and bean dip were very good. Trust me, just pass on this restaurant and pick another place to try or just go to your old faithful.

We were looking for a good place to eat close by and saw the reviews on this restaurant and I am so glad we came here. We started out with their very tasty salsa, some reviews said that it was not spicy enough but we thought it was perfect. The creamy bean dip that comes with the salsa is delicious as well. We ordered a margarita with grand marnier(not sure how to spell it) very very good. The small order of guacamole came next for our appetizer, it was so good! Our entrée we split and it was the grilled chicken with big portobello mushrooms and a cream sauce poured over that. Oh my gosh, I may go back today and have it again. The dish is epic! Brian our server was the best! He never let us run out of salsa, bean dip, water, chips or anything else that we needed. He is a very good and cute server. The ambience is not your typical style, it’s a few steps up. It’s pretty inside and has a calming, relaxing vibe that was perfect for us after our long day of shopping. The only thing to look out for is, we sat close to the front door and it was a cold night. We were chilly where we sat because every time the door opened we were hit by the cold. I highly recommend trying this place, it’s great!

Reminds me of a smaller, more intimate Mi Cocina. Me and the lover have been here twice and both times ordered the Chicken Queso Cilantro Fajitas, which were recommended by the couple who introduced us to this place. Really good, and spicy! They tend to overload on the fried onion rings. But it’s big enough for us to share for $ 15+. They do have great margaritas, I always ask for mine spicy and they definitely make them as requested! Great little place hidden in the shopping center, you can’t tell from the outside, but it is very nice on the inside.

It doesn’t get any better then this! Woohoo! As I quote Unilocal I am reminded at how good the large Nachos Mexicanos are. Not your ordinary nachos, small little perfect sized morsels topped with melted cheese, beef fajita bites, avocado pieces, tomatoes and so much more. Their black bean dip is so exquisite! I feel like I’m in a super fancy restaurant every time I dip my chip in to the silky smooth dip. I highly recommend this place and every time I’m in this part of town I have to stop by to get my nacho fix.

I called in a take out Oder — Brisket Sopecitos and Beef Fajita Nachos. It came with tortilla chips, black bean dip and salsa. The Fajita Nachos were very delicious with melted cheese on each individual round of nacho. This came with guacamole and sour cream. YUM! The Sopecitos were good. The brisket is on a like a Gordita like masa round. The brisket was slightly dry and could have used a bit more seasoning. The fresh tomatoe, onion and lettuce salad on top of the Sopecitos helped the flavor and dryness. The salsa was super good and fresh. The black bean dip was on point and the chips were thin, crisp and delicious. Overall, a good experience and I’ll be back to try some other things on the menu.

Complimentary chips, salsa, and black bean dip were promptly provided. The black bean dip was addictive and the salsa was delightfully fresh. Drinks: Our party of 2 shared a Macho margarita, tamarind margarita, and other drink suggested by our server. I dislike sweet cocktails and love tamarind, so the tamarind one was my favorite drink of the night. The suggested drink was stronger than the others but tasted pleasant. Macho margarita was peculiarly garnished with floating cucumber pieces — would not recommend. Food: We split a beef fajita platter and a garlic shrimp platter, each accompanied by rice/beans. The beef was juicy/tender. The shrimp had a nice smoky flavor and was perfectly cooked. Thankfully, the rice didn’t have peas/carrots in it and was flavorful on its own. But as a carnivore who is lazy about peeling shrimp, I am partial to the fajitas. Would recommend the churros for dessert because it comes with alcoholic ice cream. Value: The prices are quite high($$$) for a Mexican restaurant in Texas. I was hoping for more meat/seafood in each entrée considering the price, but the quality of the food helps offset the quantity piece. Sure wish they had more seafood dishes such as shrimp diavolo though! Service: Absolutely excellent. Our waitress provided recommendations based on our criteria — non-sweet cocktails, seafood dish, meat dish. She was funny, attentive, and made the night memorable for us. She is biggest reason why I would return to this restaurant. Bottom Line: 5 star service, 4 star food, 4 star value.

The food was excellent. It was our first visit and we truly enjoyed the food. We were not impressed with the lack of customer service from Jose but maybe he was having an off night. I will certainly go back.

Was looking for a fine Mexican restaurant and happened to stumble on this restaurant on Unilocal.Read the reviews and was sold. Came here with the family(wife and 2 young kids) on a Tuesday evening, around 7 p.m. If you haven’t been here before, the restaurant is a little hidden behind the Dallas Martial Arts building on the NE corner of Preston Rd. and Genstar ln. They do have parking close by. First impression: Very friendly hostess, clean restaurant, nice atmosphere — quiet. There were a few diners in the restaurant, but we decided to sit in the patio area… kids wanted to go out, although it was a little hot at the time. Chips and Salsa were served with no wait and they were fresh and tasty. Our waiter Gerardo was good at recommending the popular food and drinks. For drinks we ordered: $ 11: Herradura Silver Margarita $ 11: House Margarita Wife thought her Margarita had a lot of lime in it and tasted a tad too bitter for her taste. She didn’t even finish it. My Herradura Silver Margarita was just fine, and potent! For food we ordered: $ 18.95 Camarones al Mojo De Aj — Shrimp Sautéed in a Buttery Garlic Sauce Served on a Bed of Mexican Rice with Black Beans and Avocado Salad. $ 13.95 Lemon Pepper Chicken — Grilled Chicken Breast with Assorted Vegetables Served with Mexican White Rice The Lemon Pepper Chicken was great. Gerardo the waiter had recommended it and it did not disappoint. The seasoning, temperature was to the point and the veggies and rice were just right. Wife inhaled the Shrimp in the Camarones al Mojo De Aj… it definitely was tasty. Dessert: $ 6.25 Tres Leches Cake — This never dissapoints and the Lalos team made this to perfection — Yummy! Overall, good experience at Lalos and wouldn’t mind coming back should I be around the area.

I’ve been here twice in the last few months traveling for work. Had an enchilada dish the first time and alambres the second. You get a black bean dip along with the salsa and basket of tortilla chips. All 3 of those are on point. My entrees were quite good overall, particularly the grilled shrimp that came with the alambres, however I thought the beef was a tad tough and chewy. One thing they are quite good at is presentation. The place itself is cozy, has sort of an intimate feel and the décor is modern and not overdone. The plating and presentation of the food is a strength here. Service was ok, I would not say great. Took awhile to get another round of the salsa and black bean dip, which will be likely for most people, as the serving size on them is pretty small. All in all, for me, a pretty good restaurant… just a couple minor issues.

Lalo’s is a consistently great tasting Mexican restaurant that never fails to satisfy. Despite the higher than normal price point, their food is always high quality. While there may be certain dishes on the menu that don’t quite fit my taste, I have yet to try something at Lalo’s that did not taste good. Their complimentary salsa and black bean dip with chips are very flavorful, with the chips always tasting fresh and crisp. Their service, while not overly amazing, is polite and friendly. The food usually comes out pretty quick, but worse comes to worse you might end up waiting a normally expected time between ordering and being served. The atmosphere inside is more contemporary and modern than your classic Mexican restaurant, and would be suited for a nice step up from your average casual meal. Although the food is good, my only complaint is the cost when compared to the serving sizes. By no means do they fail to fill you up, but on certain dishes, I might expect a little more food. Overall, a minor complaint. If you’re in the area, craving great Mexican food, turn away from the junky dives trying to entice you with cheap margaritas and oily food and go to Lalo’s and get what you want: a flavorful meal that will leave you satisfied.

I came here to celebrate some birthdays(mine included). We got our chips, salsa, and bean dip right after sitting down. The chips and bean dip were great. The salsa had an overwhelming tomato flavor but it wasn’t bad. I shared the chori-queso, Mesa Platter and the Enchiladas Oaxaquenas. The enchiladas were awesome! The mole sauce was delicious and well seasoned. The flavor wasn’t overwhelming — it was perfectly balanced. The slaw that comes with it nicely complemented the dish. The chori-queso was also great. The Mesa Platter comes with Chicken Quesadillas, Sopecitos de Brisket, Bean and Cheese Nachos, Guacamole and Sour Cream. Everything in the platter was good. I also tried the tres leches cake — it was delightful. I ordered the house margarita. It took a while for the drink to come. The food came out surprisingly fast. We got our food before my drink. I started to think they forgot about it. I finally got my drink after eating a few bites of my dinner. The margarita was tasty but I think they used too much margarita mix so it had a thick feeling finish. Our waitress was attentive(without being overbearing). The rest of the staff was friendly. I’m always a little hesitant when it comes to upscale Mexican food. But I had an enjoyable experience here. It would be a great place for a date night, celebration, or just to eat! I’ll be back.

Skip the queso, it was very bland with no flavor. I ordered the flaquita as my drink which is their skinny version of a margarita. The drink was priced a little high at $ 10.95, but the drink was pretty strong. They start you off with chips, salsa and black bean dip. The black bean dip was pretty good, I wish the salsa had more of a kick to it. We split the large order of the nacho combo of fajita beef and chicken. The beef fajita meat was flavored really well, and the chicken was decent. Service was average to me, it could have been better given the time we went, it wasn’t busy. I’ll have to come back and check out other items off the menu as it is close to me! It’s a cute restaurant with a modern ambience.

This restaurant is just down the street from our house. We have been meaning to try it for months and finally did! It’s tucked away in a little shopping center just off Preston. The outside looked little and cutesy. Upon walking in, the place almost looks like MiCocina. We waited at the bar while they worked to clear off table for us. On a Wednesday night the place was pretty packed! I ordered the sangria while we waited and it was great! A little heavier on the red wine flavor than I’m used to but I’m not complaining. When we were seated we immediately ordered the Chori-queso. It was soooo good! Such a great flavor and the cheese wasn’t watery or bland. For an entrée I ordered the nachos Mexicanos. They were traditional nachos but with a spicy chicken and chipotle sauce. They were great! I would definitely come back here just for the nachos alone! Service was great! Our waitress was so sweet and so quick to get things. The manager even stopped by to check on us. I have a lot of respect for restaurants where the manager takes a minute out of running around to say hello to customers. I would definitely recommend this place and we will be sure to frequent here often!
