Hotel St Germain

I called yesterday to reserve a table for my 24^th Anniversary dinner. The gentleman who picked up was with another guest and promised to call back. He had my correct phone number. Sadly, he never did. We will have a nice experience elsewhere. Huge turn off and we will not try again. Thank you for not removing this review, Unilocal

Dined here for the first time for Easter lunch. Such a gem! The food and service were top notch. It’s incredibly charming. We’ll definitely be back. We have a new favorite place for special occasions.

This is a delayed review. I sent a personal email to the address listed on their website asking if they had any special dinner menu going on for the upcoming Valentine’s Day. I NEVER received any kind of response… not sure if it was the Hispanic surname on my return signature but you would think seeing I was a doctor at UT Southwestern would have warranted some kind of reply… That about sums up my experience with Hotel St. Germaine.

What a beautiful place, So full of history. And the food was PERFECT. The new chef Norman Grimm will make this place take it’s rightful place as the number one French restaurant in the city. So wounderful to eat from 100 years old Limoge plates and beautiful chrystal glasses. The service was impecable. The mushrooms soup just made to perfection. Foie Grai ‚(sorry about the spelling) was the best we have ever had. Scallop perfect, John Dory maybe a touch to salty, but still delish.
Wonderful goat cheese and yummy chocolate dessert.
We can’t wait to go back there again, are going for Mothers Day’s brunch for sure.

A beautiful, older B&B with great service and very nice rooms — (if you want a fancy box then this is not your place). Loved the sitting area in the room — great for passing the time reading a book or browsing the great design magazines and books spread throughout the hotel.

Great entrance, parlour room and fireplace room
We came with their full holiday décor out and it looked awesome
A great place to celebrate a small wedding, a bridal shower, etc
This is not a place for children as all dishes are fine china or crystal.
This is not a place for wifi — it is a place to get away and focus on your spouse

My husband had the most ridiculous time trying to plan my surprise 30^th birthday/​NYE celebration. He filled me on everything that happened after our evening there. While the fact that he was planning something was not a secret, he wanted to use an account that’s not checked weekly so I didn’t stumble across it while paying bills. He explained this to the concierge (a woman), made a reservation, and initiated a payment via check directly from the company that handles our portfolio. He assumed that everything was fine until he got a voicemail saying that his reservation was going to be canceled because the payment hadn’t been received. No «let’s see if there’s a problem» or «please call me so we can sort this out» — just we didn’t get your money and we are cancelling your reservation. He called and spoke to a man that answered the phone there at the hotel, who said they actually HAD received the check. After he reached the concierge later in the day and explained what was said to him, she pretty much stopped just short of calling him a liar. No offer to find out which person had said the check was there and no offer to hold the reservation until it was sorted out. At this point my husband was frantic because was worried the reservation will be canceled and it will be too late to book anything else. He got our portfolio manager, who sent the payment, on the phone with the concierge and they were so floored by the unwillingness to help that they put it on their personal credit card. That’s right. The person who manages our portfolio was so frustrated by Hotel St. Germain that they said screw it and put it on their own card so it would stay a surprise for me. They were reimbursed by us, of course, but the point is that should not have been option a, b, or c for the hotel to remedy the situation. It’s crazy to treat guests like that.
Update on 11÷1÷13 — I emailed the hotel a while back after they finally responded to my review. I wanted to stress that we did understand the policy and that our issue was with the way the situation was handled, which was poorly. That should be apparent to anybody that actually read our review. There has be no response from them to date.

We stayed in Suite #2. In town for mixture of business and pleasure. We can highly recommend this boutique hotel /​bed and breakfast. The service is phenomenal, and the location ideal for walking to great uptown restaurants. Parking was easy for us, however; may be less straightforward during busy times, as I observed few spaces. We did not eat in the restaurant, but sure enjoyed the delightful in suite breakfasts, included in the general fare. Only one problem: poor Internet reception via the guest WiFi service. Not sure whether it was the room or the system. Enjoy!

Diamonds are Forever Brunch
This past week Hotel St. Germain invited guests to accept a special assignment to celebrate 50 years of James Bond. November 9 — 18 – pinned Bond Week – was packed full of Secret Missions which any 007 Connoisseur would enjoy. Me being a super-​fan, I just couldn’t resist.
Undercover Assignment with James
Overnight stay in a Suite with Bond Breakfast served in bed while enjoying your favorite Bond movie or book. The classic Bond Breakfast consists of:

— Hot Buttered Toast w/​Strawberry Jam

«Week long mission which requires ‘nightlife’ reconnaissance». This mission features treats from Bond movies all served in the hotel’s Library and Parlor.

Sky Fall Dinner
Start the night out with a 007 Cocktail and admire the Aston Martin with the Bond look-​alike before settling down to a 5-​course wine & champagne dinner.
— Amuse Bouche — Creamy Egg with Truffle & Smoked Salmon and Caviar in Blini & Lobster Bisque Soup
— Appetizer — Seared Foie Gras and Candied Fig
— Seafood — Dressed Crab w/​Drawn Butter, Watercress, Lemon and Black Bread Toast Points
— Entrée — Beef Tournedos with Asparagus, Pomme Frites, Bearnaise
— Dessert — Tiramisu Parfait with Amaretto and Gold Fingers
— Mignardise — Chocolate Bullets and Poker Chip Chocolates

The final mission of Bond Week is 007’s favorite brunch with Diamonds Are Forever movie viewing in the Parlor.

The food was fantastic and the service superb! Such a unique way to celebrate one of my favorite movie series of all time.

The restaurant: private, romantic, elegantly petite, with outstanding, unobtrusive service. The fare: of superb quality prepared with evident professional dedication; simply delightful. All these appellatives I will repeat for the boutique hotel experience. My wife and I recommended this choice treasure of a hotel-​restaurant highly. Overall then, magnifique!

Our son surprised us with a Valentine’s dinner for two at Hotel St. Germain. We’d been wanting to come here for years. White glove treatment here. We were seated in the parlor for drinks while our table was being prepared. When we arrived at our table, the menu was imprinted with our names on it. First class! Beautiful setting. Every course was delectable, exciting and so unexpected. Presentation was just gorgeous! VERY Romantic and Memorable evening. Cannot wait to visit again. Definately worthy of 5 STARS!

We did the NYE thing at the Hotel St. Germain and seemed to be about average aged for the place. So, yes lots of «old farts».
Spectacular event. Nice jazz band, moving to R and B and motown. delicious, elegant dinner with about 15 tables. Lovely trteatment of a truffled duck egg in its shell. Fabulous oysters. Charcuterie — well that’s my downfall. Chocolate soufflé. Champagne.
Not a foot wrong — waiters with white gloves, a charming hostess. Hamdled the seafood allergy witout fuss.
Madame was especially impressed that the menu was imprinted with our names.
This will become a tradition!
