Well how do I start… I was at the Wits End tonight with my girlfriend enjoying some awesome beats from Two Tone and needed to use the restroom and the one at the club was being used. So I proceed to walk over to the Elm Street bar which is called(Vinty club) now for some stupid reason… Go inside and there is not a soul insight but music was playing so I go to the bathroom and come out and the owner of the bar and the dumb blonde of a bartender come down the stairs in the front. I walk to the bar and order just a water. The bartender seems to be a little hesitant to get me a water but does. Then outta nowhere the owner of the bar tells me to return the money I stole outta the tip jar or he is calling the police. I was like what the fuck are you talking about… Then he proceeds to lock me into the establishment until he reviews camera footage. So I stand there with patients running thin knowing that I didn’t commit this crime. Douche bag returns from his office upstairs and tells me that he has me on camera taking the money and threatens to call the cops… I asked him to show me the surveillance video and he refused… I dumped my bag out and explained to this piece of shit I didn’t do this and he finally unlocks the door and tells me to get the fuck outta his club and never return. I said gladly to the bald cock sucker of an owner and returned to the Wits End…

We have been here twice and both times it is dead. Do not think we will be back again.

Loved the place. Great service. Must try pretzel shot. Corey is the best bar tender ever…

I actually like the interior of this club/bar. Went the other night for one drink, the DJ was playing upstairs. I love how dark the place is… would be a great place to get drunk. I would go again, for sure.

You know even though it’s a dump I’ve liked it there for some time. Depends on the party though every place can be great if the people are. The acoustics have improved but yet again the might just be the DJ’s fault pitch it low man!

I am old school and still longing for the old deep ellum(like 20 years ago), but that time is gone, so i thought I would go an support the new guard, but elm street bar doesn’t revive it. I went on a Friday night and there was a DJ for all of 3 people. The décor was cheesy. The music was not hip but rather techno. There was no one there. I wanted them to be successful, so my friend and I bought a shot, but it the music and scene was dead, so there was nothing left to do but leave.

I can preface this review with stating I never experienced any other Elm Street Bar so I can’t speak to what it was or what it’s become but I had a good time. The music was danceable playing pretty much the top hits. The DJ played my odd request with no hesitation. The drinks were also cheap. The place is set up that you almost walk down a hallway(or to the back at least) to get to the dance floor which I like because it allows you space to have a conversation elsewhere without being on the dance floor, in the way, or with loud music playing in your ear. They also have a balcony of sorts that overlooks the bar and patrons down below.

The original Elm Street Bar is still closed. But the location that used to be the Dark Side Lounge(next door) and was also The Nightmare reopened with the name Elm Street Bar(different owner than the original) and is located at 2810 Elm Street. The new Elm Street Bar will never be the old Elm Street Bar… *sigh*

It’s open again, but it might as well be closed. I hate to be negative about bars opening in Deep Ellum, but I went in there with my wife when we were leaving July Alley and we noticed it had re-opened. I heard a lot about it’s previous life so curiosity got the better of me.(by the way, this was during the Superbowl weekend when the roads were ice rinks.). Inside was the guy behind the bar and a girl sitting by the bar texting on her phone. Turns out she was the bartender as well, but as we were the first people in that night, she didn’t have much to do. The guy behind the bar was trying his best I guess, but my first drink had this blue crap around the rim of the glass. I only noticed that after it was in my mouth after taking a drink, so yeah… not good. Some people came in later but they were ignored by the staff and quickly left again. It has so much potential but it was like a cemetery in there and we had one drink and left. Not good…

I realize it states ‘Closed’ but I was here this past Sunday(02÷20÷11) and it was open. I believe it’s in the original location before it closed down. This location was just recently The Nightmare and I know it had a name change before that. I hope it starts picking up because every time I’ve been regardless of the name, it’s been very dull and boring. I keep giving it tries but it just doesn’t improve. The really disappointing thing to me was every time I’ve gone it, it’s always looked the same, regardless of the name. I personally feel like changing the name doesn’t improve the place! P.S the address on this says Irving, but clearly that’s wrong, I just don’t know how to change it, sorry! :)
