12/31/2015 The wife and I chose this restaurant by a coin flip. It was an excellent choice. For new years eve lunch, it was fairly empty. Robert was our waiter. Very polite and respectful young man. Knew the menu well, told us what the specials were. First we ordered chips and salsa with the top shelf guacamole. Robert made the guacamole at our table. That was cool and yummy! I ordered the«El caballero» and my wife ordered the top shelf Santa Fe dillas. Both orders were out fairly quick, were hot and absolutely delicious. Robert kept our drinks full and nearly waited on us hand and foot. Very good quality of service and a wonderful attitude. His GM(Miranda Cruz), came by to inquire about our meals. We told her it was yummy and complimented her on the restaurant and Roberts level of service. She thanked us for coming in with so many choices in the area for us to choose her restaurant was appreciated. Servers take note. You earn your tip/gratuity, it is not an expectation. And Robert’s attitude, demeanor and level of service earns it. I am very hard on my reviews and for me to extol compliments on an establishment says something. Eat here you will not be disappointed.

We took our youngest daughter and our granddaughter here to eat with us. The restaurant was dead. We were seated in a booth. My husband had the chorizo quesadilla and I had the chicken chimichanga. The girls shared a mac and cheese and a bowl of queso with corn tortillas. The food was good, but the waiter was hardly around. This seemed odd, since there was no one else in the restaurant for him to be attending to.

Sat at the bar for 10 minutes. I was never acknowledged so I walked out. There was 1 other guest at the bar. I was surprised he had a drink in front of him. There was only about 10 tables in the restaurant and more than enough servers for a Friday night at 7:30.

It’s been 20+ years since I’ve been to a Él Chicos and now i remember why. Chips and salsa was good but the queso was very plain with no taste. Usually after 3 margaritas any food begins to taste better but not here :-(. First disappointment amongst my reviews. Addie the bartender/host/waitress/MISS ALLEVERYTHING was great. Go by and say hello and give her your best KNOCK, KNOCK joke. :-) :-) :-)

Two fajita lunches – one mixed grill(beef, chicken, shrimp) and one combo(beef, chicken). One with black beans and guacamole, one with ranchero beans and guac. A VERYLARGE serving of meats… well seasoned, and high quality. The beef was the most tender we can recall in fajita meals. The shrimp additions to the combo meal were pleasant, but we’re not sure 4 medium shrimp justify the additional $ 1.50. Too many tortillas – 4 with each meal. we each used 2, and told the server not to bring the second container of 4. Excellent and attentive service. With a take-home container, we had a second full and tasty meal for the original price for the two of us. We like this place, have been there many times in the past, and will be there often in the future.

Went there all the time when I worked across the street but have not been back for over 20 years. Nice to see they still have the same good food and great service that it was back then. Will add this back into my rotation.

Holy Fing Sh*t, think you could crank this annoying music any higher? Foods not bad not great. Total turnoff to not hear someone sitting next to me because they have music cranked. I love all kinds of music but they had to find the most intrusive annoying garbage you can’t block out and blast it down onto my table ruined my meal.

I usually eat here during lunch and order the same thing. Service is fast… food is good and Jaunita is the best !!! She attends the bar area and is very helpful. She’s been with the place for years and is outstanding.

Was there in December and the best guacamole ever. Perfectly fresh and mad right at her table. Service was great and the food hot and just what I expected.

I recently came here for happy hour with some co-workers. Overall, I was not impressed with the food. We did receive good service, and it’s priced okay, but based on my experience with the food, I will probably not return. Chips & salsa — both of these were okay. The salsa is served cold and doesn’t really have anything in it. No chunks of onion, cilantro, etc. Fajitas — again okay, but I thought that they lacked seasoning. It almost tasted as if the food was previously frozen. Rice & beans — The beans were passable, but my rice was very undercooked and lacked seasoning. Tortillas — I can honestly say that these are the worst tortillas I’ve had served to me in a restaurant. I would probably rate Mission tortillas higher. They tasted storebought and were served raw. I recently saw that they have chicken-fried steak on the menu. Don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of beef being slathered in flour and then fried, but I am not sure I want that dish to be served where I get my enchiladas.

El Chico’s take on Tex-Mex cuisine is an absolute staple of my diet. The beef enchiladas are always delicious… ask for Juanita for fast and friendly service!

Try the Mexican Apple Pie for dessert. Is a religious experience. Complimented my beef enchilada dinner today.

What I love about El Chico is the food is great and the atmosphere is unobtrusive. Some tex-mex restaurants try to «turn and burn» the clientele for volume sales. Others are overly proud of mediocre food. El Chico acts like your Tia Maria… She wants you to eat! Always a good experience!
