Wait for a red light and get your picture taken at the Xs on the ground. Also stand at the Xs and look back towards the Sixth floor window. You’ll also notice how close the highway is so any potential assassin had an easy escape route.

A neat — if not morbid — place to visit.
The memorial area itself is actually pretty nice and has a pretty view of downtown.
Conspiracy theorists everywhere, who are kind of interesting to listen to.
The street where JFK got shot is still an active and busy street, so if you’re going to take a selfie with the big white «X,» watch out for cars…

Grassy knoll, Elm Street, the railroad overpass, and the plaza are must sees for the conspiracy theorists. It was on my bucket list.

Dealey Plaza is where the grassy knoll that is forever tied to JFK can be found. It is a historic place, and if you are interested in history, this is a place not to be missed in Dallas. After visiting the Sixth Floor Museum, it is good to come down here and try to get the perspective of the people who were on the ground on that day. Whether you believe the conspiracy theories about the assassination or not, Dealey Plaza can help you make up your mind. Was it really the acoustic effects of the surrounding buildings or was there really a second shooter? This is a question you can ponder here. Additionally, there is a memorial for that tragic day in November 1963.
Having now mentioned the historic importance of the plaza, this is also a great spot to watch for people who risk their safety to take a selfie with the X. It is interesting to also ponder what people consider morbid or decent. It is all about perspective. Just because I think taking a selfie of myself with a mark where a human being was murdered is indecent and disrespectful does not necessarily mean that other people think the same way. Dealey Plaza is truly an educational spot. It teaches you about history and human nature.
When in Dallas, Dealey Plaza should not be missed.

Fun to walk around and learn about our cities history and JFK. Lots of historical markers and signs explaining events and people in history.

Few events have continued to grip the nation 50 years later as deeply as JFK’S assassination in Dallas in November 1963.
For history buffs and conspiracy theorists alike, Dealey Plaza, the Triple underpass, the grassy knoll, and the Texas School Book Depository yield a unique opportunity to see a history altering crime scene largely unchanged from the day the crime occurred.
Tasteful historical markers provide an easy narrative for tourists to understand the events of the day.
This is a must see for any Dallas visitor.

After lunch in the West End an easy bike over to Dealey Plaza seemed opportune on a sunny October day.
I headed up to the covered structure on the grassy knoll, steeped in the history of the JFK assassination, which overshadows any functionality of an actual park that might be demanded.
A man with a pop up camping table covered with DVDs and souvenir paraphernalia for sale involving the JFK assassination was
topped with a board covered in articles regarding undocumented movies and misplaced evidence.
These conspiracy theory tables dotting the area make my day. «It’s an open park.» He told me, when asked about the technicalities of being there.
Walking back behind the train tracks on the walkway over the streets gives a good view of the site. A graffiti stencil of JFK in black
was spray painted on the concrete bridge next to the train tracks where most people believe the lethal shots came from.
Crowded on weekends and on November 22^nd, the park is a nice place to soak in some history and wonder some about the cogs of motion behind the goings on of politics.
Be sure to check out the sixth floor museum nearby if you want a more in depth experience with the JFK assassination.
Just make sure to spend some time in this famous park.

When it comes to Dealey Plaza, there’s not much to say. If you come to Dallas, you should probably make at least one stop here. It’s quite a landmark, albeit a very sad one.
Chances are that if you’re visiting here then you know what happened here, but if you don’t there’s plenty of signage and also several gentlemen who will happily tell you (often for a tip, if they can keep you a captive listener for long enough). And you won’t be alone – plenty of tourists are always milling about, near the fountain or down on the grassy knoll, taking photos of the white X that marks the spot. If you stand near the fountain and crane your neck up, you can see the window where Oswald stood when he took the shot. Honestly it all feels a little morbid, such a tragedy that becomes such spectacle after 50 years. But on the other hand, it’s better than letting it be forgotten. And it is quite a feeling to stand in such a historic place.

It’s a nice area but not much to see. The road is marked with an X where JFK first got shot and that’s about all there is to see. There’s a fountain on the other side but that’s about it. There are some older men trying to sell pictures and a very old man who claims he was there when Kennedy was shot and he is also trying to sell pictures of the parade.
The whole place is underwhelming unless you’re a really huge fan of JFK. There’s a tour bus that takes you around downtown for $ 5, I highly recommend it.

An incredibly sobering and well-​done memorial to where the shots were fired. The Xs on the street where each shot hit JFK are stark reminders of a tragic piece of our nation’s history.
A tragic piece of history interrupted by the tourists running out into traffic to take pictures of the Xs. No joke. This is still an active road and intersection, but I guess the shot of a white X on the asphalt is more important than not getting hit by a car.
Tourists are awful.

I’ve seen pictures, seen movie clips, and read about this site in my history classes throughout high school.
Very chilling to actually see the site in person.
A must see if you are in Dallas.

Don’t be an assclown and take selfies at the spot where JFK died. It’s crude. Instead, quietly reflect on the significance of the event and what the man stood for.

It is Dealey Plaza. It is a somber place where a horrific event happened. They handle the site with respect and dignity. Everything is labelled clearly and with pertinent information.

«Where were you when they shot Kennedy?» All those that were born (and old enough to remember) will surely recall to the littlest detailed what happened that fateful day. .
So, if you ever happen to spend a day (or more) in Dallas, this landmark is a MUST on your list of things to visit (along with the Sixth Floor Museum).
Though half a century has gone by, when you set foot in this historic square, you are brought straight back to 1963, feeling a chill running through your back…
When you mentally recreate the motorcade voyage, you immediately wonder why such a path was chosen. Even the strongest people will stop, bow their head and feel the sadness (i have cried). Take your time to recall all your memories (via movies, TV specials, pictures) and walk those places and you will feel like you were there and then…
BUT please … do NOT risk your life trying to get your picture taken alongside the X (where JFK was shot) marked on the street… TRAFFIC WON’T STOP.
The grassy knoll is there and so are the vendors that want you to buy their book with the craziest theories about what really happen… up to you to chose whether or not you want to make a purchase or go on believing it Oswald and that «he acted alone»…

Not an easy visit but important and worth the time. Not solemn. Very souvenir –ish. Sad.

Great location with not so great history. The plaza was just refurbished not too long ago and looks like they are just starting to handle the homeless problem in the area. So bring the family and get you history on.

We took my parents to check out this infamous landmark. My dad had wanted to see for awhile and he was very impressed! There were tons of tourist. Not sure if it had to do with the holiday weekend or if is just that big of a drawl. There are tons of tours available, the 5^th floor museum and other kitschy things to check out. My dad didn’t have a problem starting up conversations with other history buffs and he really enjoyed hearing others points of view. It was a very nice afternoon out for the entire family. Look for deals on groupon for the tours an museums in the area. There was a Segway groupon but it required a week in advance reservation… Bummer but I will remember it for our next visit.

If you go to NYC you visit the World Trade Center memorial; you go to Oklahoma City you visit the memorial; you come to DC you visit Arlington Cemetery… you come to Dallas, you visit Dealey Plaza. For those who think it is morbid, remember that it a major part of our history.
I do agree with another reviewer that some of what was going on didn’t reflect the somber nature I had anticipated at the Plaza. There were lots of people standing in the middle of the street taking pictures and reenacting things. I
also will state that it doesn’t seem like it is patrolled often by police. On the far side of the plaza (away from the book depository) it was clear that a homeless person was sleeping in the white structure. They had left their bedding, belongings and a small fire smoldering in the «early» hours (it was 9am on a Sunday).
Also there were a group of men who were selling things to people passing by almost aggressively. My husband and I switched to French and continued our conversation pretending not to understand what they were saying to us.

I had some time on my hands before my flight back to San Antonio so I decided last minute to stop by here for a few hours.
This is the perfect little spot to walk around and imagine that you can experience of a part of history, tragic as it was. We’ve all seen the films so many times and this place looks just the same as it did that terrible day.
I enjoyed being able to leisurely walk around on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn’t crowded and the weather was really nice which made for a very pleasant walk.
I enjoyed browsing the gift shop and then sitting down for a smoothie on the grassy knoll, just taking it all in.
I highly recommend taking the time to come here if you are in the area. It’s a must-​see in my opinion.
