We went to the Addison location and had the same experience as the majority of the reviewers. The instructor gave out clay and that was about it. He didn’t actually teach us anything. We made a bowl, he told us to pinch it to make the edges, but didn’t offer any actual guidance.
After the bowl (about 15 minutes) we were told we could do whatever we wanted. I have NO pottery experience so I wanted someone to SHOW me how to do something, offer me some techniques and tips, but that didn’t happen. We all just played around for an hour making our own things, but with ZERO guidance from the instructor (who kept disappearing to get cocktails — he was gone for up to 10 minutes at a time, so not even available to ask for assistance). It was a total ripoff, there was NO instruction, it was just play time with clay.
We can come back to paint it now that our clay is dry, we are going to try to do this to at least get more for our money. The instructor told us «a lot of people don’t want to paint it, they like the look of the clay.» What I think he was saying was, «please don’t come back and make me do this again.» We were having some difficulties with the website so my friend emailed and called 3 times prior to our class and NEVER heard a response.
The class was fun only because we went as a big group of friends, but we decided next time we’re all going to pitch in $ 10 and play around at someone’s house for a lot less money and just as much instruction. I would not recommend this as a class at all, you’re better off buying your own clay and having fun with friends because I left with no more knowledge than when I started, which was disappointing.

I’m kind of glad I didn’t read the reviews before I bought a groupon for the wine glass decorating class.
My friend and I went to their class a couple of Sundays ago. We got to decorate two wine glasses (all supplies included). We arrived 15 minutes before the class started, as was recommended, and you definitely want to do that. Our teacher started instructions during that time, so the people who showed up on time had to get instructions as the rest of us got started.
We got a lot of tips on ways to paint our glasses and had a bunch of Martha Stewart colors to choose from. Not really knowing what to do my first glass was kind of meh. The second one was better. I’m in no hurry to use my glasses or display them anywhere. It’s only my fault I’m not more talented. We were told to bake our glasses when we got home for 20 minutes and then let sit in the oven for 10. Otherwise it takes about 21 days to dry. The paint lasts about a year in the dishwasher.
The class we had was in the small white building sitting at Elm and Malcolm X (same side as Pepe and Mito’s). It matched the address on the groupon, but the map on the groupon made the location seem a little further in downtown.
The class had free booze, but there was not much left as we were the last class of the weekend. They do not promote BYOB, but looked like as long as you weren’t a drunken asshole you could bring drinks in.
The class was supposed to last a couple of hours, but my friend and I finished pretty quickly and it with it being Sunday night we didn’t stick around to mingle or anything.
Overall we had a fun time! It was a good way to spend $ 30 for some adult crafting. I’m very interested in doing one of the wine bottle wind chimes class.

Yeah, so the class I paid for was a complete rip off… even at the Goupon/​Living Social price.

I am glad I got this on a Groupon and did not pay full price. I still think I got jipped. As another reviewer stated — I could go to Hobby Lobby, get clay there and do what I did in this class.
I have to preface this by saying that I work in training — and have relatively decent expectations for guidance in a pottery class. I don’t expect a professional instructor — but I do expect someone who gives half a crap. The girl started our class (late because people were still signing in) and one of the first things out of her mouth is. «I have been doing pottery for 13 years, but I know I look 16… but I am not».
Uhm. Ok. Confidence Inspired. I don’t care how old you are — be clear about what we are going to do, tell us how to do it… and then support the people in the class. She was a sweet girl. but it felt more like a vacation bible school class than something I would do as an adult…
Class was marketed as two hours, but after we did our little roses (that can be used as a diffuser — fine, but I was expecting a bowl or cup or something) — they said «uhm…do whatever you want».? Great class. I cranked out a few pieces so I could feel like I got my money’s worth… but geesh.
They did provide wine and drinks, but… still. Meh. That will get you an extra star… but it’s pushing it.
Only good side… I went with friends. And we had a good time together.
I wouldn’t recommend this, sadly. Better options for classes out there.

Don’t waste your time or $$! Bought a groupon for $ 22 for a $ 44 pottery class. We scheduled the class for June 22^nd. A week before we receive an email that states it was cancelled and rescheduled for the 29^th. Keep in mind we scheduled 6 weeks in advance. The groupon has a address of hardwood st. We get there it’s actually on elm a mile away. The 3 hour class is actually an hour long and it consists of them giving you a ball of clay and telling you to mold what you want. Don’t waste your time or money!

i bought a groupon for the pottery and i would take another class with them. it’s a big plus that they offer wine with the class. it was easy for me to find but i didn’t notice the free parking until after the instructor mentioned it to another attendee. it wasn’t on a pottery wheel but to me that was ok. i’m just a beginner artist. :) with my clay i made the rose that they instructed us on, a drinking bowl for my dog and a shot glass for my husband. the pottery hardens within 48 hours so i didn’t have to go back to pick up my stuff. will look into the jewelry class next.

This place sucks. I got a Groupon so we could do pottery for my gf’s birthday. MAJOR issues getting registered. The site they use won’t let you register multiple people and you have to use a separate credit card and email address for each person. So stupid! Then I tried to get us both registered by using their contact form on the website. No response. I left a phone message. No response. I emailed. No response. I tried calling again — the voicemail is full. Obviously this is a very poorly run business. I’m going to ask for a refund on the Groupon.
Oh, and to top it all off, they have you sign up for a pottery class, then in very small print on the certificate it says «no wheel will be used»! We are just painting pieces. In my book, that’s not pottery class. You can do that at lots of places, and it’s not very expensive.

We bought a Groupon that stated that we would get to learn how to create whatever we wanted and when we got there the instructor told us we could make a cup or a rattle. When my friend inquired about making a platter we were told that we were signed up for the wrong class and that it wasn’t our fault and he apologized. The groupon said that we would make our own creation, come back to paint it, it would be put in a kiln and then we would have to come back and pick it up. In this class, we were told that we could come back on Easter Sunday to paint it if we wanted to and then we’d have to seal it if we actually wanted to use what we created. To be clear, this class was a joke. The fact that the instructor apologized at the beginning says it all. There were booths all around our class with artisans selling their wares and we were clealry brought in as a customer base. One lady asked me how I was doing and when I asked her how she was doing she said she was better now that I had walked up to her booth. Save your money and don’t do this class. You won’t learn anything… you’ll just be pressured into buying something. You can go to Hobby Lobby and get a block of clay and do what we did for five bucks. Total waste. And nothing but an insult.
