Finally got a chance to eat here the other day after always coming in for drinks over the past year. The place was busy for a Thursday evening. We were sat at the outside part of the bar and Coby was out bartender. They always have a great beer and drink selection. I’m all about the Craft beers too. Why would anyone want to drink piss-water Budweiser or Miller is beyond me. Spend an extra buck or two for something better. Anywho, I had the black bean burger and sweet potato fries and the bf had the turkey burger. Both items were good but nothing mind blowing, which is not what I was expecting anyway. We just wanted a nice dinner and that’s what we got. The service from Coby was outstanding. I know other times I have been here for drinks and service has been spotty but that is usually because the place is busy. When there is a bunch of drunk gays we usually become very needy and lose patience like the queens we are. But Coby was great on our last visit. All in all I like the sports bar concept. I’m going to try to come more often(no pun intended).

Michael is instantly the reason I will sit at this bar for hours. He pours with a generous heart and continues to come by to check in to make sure I’m refilled and comfortable. He’s hilarious, charming and makes my stay so much more enjoyable. I come here with my friends after work since I live just down the street and always get amazing costumer service and a great atmosphere. This is my go to bar before any other.

Based on past experiences, I want to like this place, but it seems the only consistent thing is the food. Two main problems have come up: service and noise level. The service has become hit-or-miss…it’s never been outright bad, but the staff often seem more interested in talking to their friends(be they other customers or other on-/off-duty staff) than in attending to customers. Camaraderie with patrons can create a welcoming atmosphere – but not when it begins hurting the overall customer experience. As far as noise level: often I’ll be unable to have a conversation because it’s too loud – and not because the place is packed with customers. The music will be excessively loud, there will be Cher-e-okee, or a TV show will be on(very loudly). If these events drew crowds, they would be understandable; however, they nearly always seem interruptive – everyone is chatting and eating… suddenly it becomes too loud to have a conversation. It seems to push people away; it certainly pushes me away if I’m there with friends. I used to recommend the taphouse a lot, but the black bean burger is the main reason I still go. Sometimes I get lucky… but if I expect to have a conversation with my food, I generally go elsewhere.

I would rate this place higher but the night I went(a Wednesday) they were playing American Horror Story(very loud — so I couldn’t chat with any of my 3 friends sitting with me). Screams, gory-cutting sounds and horror music playing in the background and scenes of abortions, cuttings, stitching of skin and blood everywhere is not the best type of environment when you’re trying to eat a burger. To management: TV viewing is great at a club/bar, but not at a sit-down restaurant. I wish my 1st experience had been better. Thanks.

One of my favorite places on the strip. There’s always some sort of special going on from 2 for 1 burgers to 13.99 Prime Rib and baked potato, plus a different drink special everyday. For bar food this place out ranks the competition. The burgers are huge, sweet potato fries are the best I’ve had. My friend had the Mexican pizza which was big enough for three people. I suggest you add taco meat to it otherwise it’s just beans. The taco meat is fantastic! They do an amazing Fireball special! Every time an emergency vehicle passes by with sirens blaring(which is all the time being so close to a fire station) they ring a bell and serve $ 2 Fireball shots for 10 minutes! Needless to say the patrons go crazy for this. I have never had a dull time here. Staff is friendly, patrons are friendly, there are different board games to play as well as a pool table. How can you not have fun? Is just a great place to chill. The clientele ranges from young to older, muscle, twinks, bears and everything in between, and they all seem to mingle with no problem. Such a relaxing atmosphere with no attitude. One of the main reasons I love this place. I make new friends every time I go.

Very eye opening; I saw a couple of reviews on here and decided to check it out myself. Similar to a couple of other people, I was virtually ignored. I waited 20 minutes before deciding that there were other establishments nearby that would be happy to acknowledge me at the least before taking my money. I also wonder why only ‘certain’ reviews receive a response from management. #shademuch

I wanted an easy dinner so decided to walk downstairs. Was very busy at taphouse tonight but the service was excellent!!! My server tonight, Richie, Took well care of my table. He asked if we needed another drink even before ours were gone, and made sure that everything was perfect for our table. I will definitely go back more if it stays like this!!!

Great food and drinks, located in the heart of the Oak Lawn entertainment district. Staff is friendly and attentive. Food specials range from taco Tuesday’s, to ribeye Wednesday’s, to 2−4−1 burgers on Thursdays, to prime rib Friday’s, plus brunch on Saturday and Sunday’s. Yum!

I liked the location as well as the layout of this establishment. However they really do need to decide if they want to be a bar or a restaurant. Yes, I’m not closed minded, you can be both but figure it out and get on with it. So being unsure and not particularly starving, I started off with a frozen margarita. Wow, way to sweet and weak but it had a cute frozen lime pop included. It tasted like those frozen drinks you buy in bags and freeze to make your own. Well the drink was a bust so decided to order food, it was steak night, saw the special offered for $ 12.99. I passed and am glad I did from what I saw from my date. It looked as if it was cooked properly, medium rare but it also looked like a cheap Sam’s club special you get in those big economy boxes. Not good from what I saw but admittedly I did not take a bite. Watching him cut through grizzle and fat was proof enough for me. I’m actually one of those weird Texans who like grizzle and fat from a steak but not in public please. I ordered a patty melt, I love a simple patty melt. This was a grilled patty and onions with cheese and sauce on toasted bread. Really toasted? A patty melt is supposed to be grilled. The bread was too dry for me, I only ate half of my order. As I said I wasn’t overly hungry but had I been at Hunky’s down the block, trust me it would have gotten eaten. The sweet potato fries were actually good, nice and crispy and not greasy. The fact that they had tabasco sauce on the table next to the ketchup and the fries is the reason for the 2 stars. I’ll be back as my friends like to do happy hour here. I’ll join then one day and give it another go…

Well, this is just might be the final post for Tap House. This place has the worst service, rudest employees and complete lack for quality. I’m so surprised Matt, the manager, can allow such a pitiful product. Over the past several months we have witnessed the decline of CSTH. The lack of training for servers, the rudeness of managers, and the immaturity of bartenders can only mean one thing; it starts at the top. The blonde female bartender working Sunday 10⁄25 is one of the rudest service industry employees. Next time, watch your response and expressions. For such a prime location, it will take a complete overhaul to fix this place.

If your looking for a great lunch stop at the Tap House! They have a delicious fish and chips special for lunch that’s awesome! The fish is Guinness Beer Battered and served with delicious homemade chips for $ 5. The happy hour bartender Kevin is funny and attracts a great crowd for lunch. Highly recommend you give it a try!

Cedar Springs Tap House serves alcohol and it’s located on Cedar Springs, of course they will do well. The place was packed on a Thursday night, full of rowdy patrons sipping on cocktails, donning their favorite new H&M outfits. While it may take a half day to get your food, the burgers here are actually quite good. Good enough that I’d fight through the distracted and careless service. I had the Cedar Springs Burger which was cooked just right and full of flavor for such a simple burger. But management, take note, your service is really bad. Our server was a nice enough guy but only took half our order before leaving for 10 minutes. He just assumed only half our table wanted to order food. Food arrived in shifts and tracking down anyone for assistance is a challenge. Don’t fall into the trap of every other business on Cedar Springs thinking you can sell a bunch of alcohol and throw the concept of good service out the window.

I’ve been here a few times now, but only on the weekends so can’t really comment on how service is during the week or specials they offer. I mainly came here because the patio is dog friendly and I like to bring my pup along, especially after out and about on the trails or the park. What drew me here was the popsarita. So refreshing on a hot/humid day and its shaded well. The popsicle was really good, real fruit in it. The only thing is the service isn’t consistent. First time I went it took forever just to get an order in, the second time i had spectacular service; and most recently, it was pretty off even though it wasn’t busy at all. Surprisingly, it was the most attentive and quick when it was busiest. I haven’t had any entrée’s here, but have split appetizers with friends that I’ve come here with. I had the bang bang shrimp — meh not worth the price point of $ 13. it’s nothing special either; bacon wrapped shrimp. The nachos on the other hand were pretty decent, $ 10.50 but if you add chicken it’s an additional $ 2. The portion size is huge and it’s easily shareable, we couldn’t even finish an order the first time. Other than that, I enjoyed my visits here because I can bring my fur buddy along when I’m out on the strip. Food isn’t bad and those darn popsicles get me everytime.

This is, by far one of the best places on(or near) the strip. Reading other reviews reminds me why I don’t live in this bubble called the gayborhood. Over sensitive patrons thinking the world revolves around them in a sea of a packed bar. It’s a sports bar… with good food, amazing drinks, and a great staff. Management is always out and interacting with patrons… how often do you see that? The food is incredibly amazing. The bartenders fucking rock!(Try the frozen margarita with a homemade popsicle.) Some of the best drink prices on the strip. Food is unique and appealing. You MUST try steak night. … woof. Oh … the Mexican pizza. Grr.

I was a regular whom came here about 4 – 5 days a week. I was treated badly by assistant management. I went to the GM and complained and nothing was done. Expensive drinks, slow service and no one in charge efficient running the place = closed by the end of the year. My friends and I have found a new place down the street and laugh when people mention tap house.

Oak Lawn became an enclave for the gay bar scene starting in the 70’s and the scene slowly shifted away from downtown. The OP, or Old Plantation, moved from its site at what is now the Dallas Museum of Art to create the beginnings of the Dallas arts district in a buy out with the City and became the Village Station where Zini’s now stands at throckmorton and cedar springs. Dallas gay scene’s dizzying hungry evolution peaked in the 80’s and kind of tapered off. What’s left is a solid strip of gay bars still in transition and seeking new life. «Mary Thumb» the old gay grocery store got razed for the new Ilume apartments which ignites a new gay presence with«cedar Springs Taphouse» a relaxed gay bar disguised as a Taphouse, but it’s really a gay bar with what I understand is just«ok» barfood. On our visit we befriended some time capsuled young Texan country boys with ranches and new worldly gay friendly attitudes. A game of pool with them happily led to more than a few good flirtatious metaphors involving «sticks and balls» –now that’s better than bar food. The place is a bit drab with a grey color scheme and a clientele that is older and laid back finding refuge from the other somewhat tired and used day drinking spots on the strip. Happy hour wine was $ 3. I can’t say the place was pretty but it was clean and had decent energy and I heard it gets busy on weekends. Here’s to new gay life.
