Cheap, fast and easy! The hot sauce was fresh made but could have been hotter. Big portions and standard TexMex. Friendly waitress, effecient without hovering. If your at Half Price Books and craving mexican food check them out.

There are a lot of places to get Tex-Mex in Dallas, and I like trying new ones each time I come down. Though I have my short list of favorites, Casita makes the list if, for nothing else, having amazing house salsa. It wasn’t until we saw that Hank’s(our intended destinaion) wasn’t serving food anymore that I realized how much I definitely wanted fish tacos, and that we were conveniently parked in front of a Tex-Mex place that I have been largely unaware of for years. My dad and I went in to order a bunch of fish tacos to go, and we had some red sangria while we waited. It was good, not amazing, but I’d definitely order it again. The fish tacos were also pretty good; I suspect they would have been better had we eaten them at the restaurant instead of letting them sit for 20 minutes. I recommend getting the white sauce on the side so you can focus on the flavor of the fish, and add a little at a time. Flour tacos over corn. The tacos also came with a huge bag of chips and a lot of their house salsa, which ended up being the highlight of the meal. Though fantastic house salsa is likely not an indication of how good the rest of their food is, I will happily return to try something else, with additional sangria.

Absolutely love this place. Great texmex with authentic fresh Mexican flavors. One of the best salsas around. Combine the food with live music, laid back atmosphere and friendly staff = an A++ rating from me.

Pretty good! My son and I shared the Flautas and their refried beans were super tasty… not to forget the guacamole! Yummmmy! The house frozen marg was real good. I love«hole in the wall» places. The server was great and super friendly.

Real deal Tex Mex. More por favor! From enchiladas to rice and beans… everything tastes homemade. Quest rocks, salsa is adequate. Tacos are served as an appetizer and they are oh so tasty. My date was very pleased with the carne asada. I can’t wait to go back and try more. Margaritas are good, the swirl was even better. My one criticism was that the guacamole was bland. Don’t forget the free sopapilla with Unilocal check-in. Fantastic finish to a great meal.

Still the best in Dallas. Just remember to tell em you want ur taco with ur combo plate otherwise it comes out first like an appetizer. Weird but the waitress made it good.

I’ve lived in Texas so long, that Tex-Mex is my comfort food. Yes, Mom made mac ‘n’ cheese when I was growing up, but let’s face it, if you’ve had a crisis of any kind, cheese enchiladas will make it better. If not, margaritas will help. Casita is the favorite Tex-Mex of at least two generations of my family, and I haven’t asked my son to vote yet. so it may be three. The servers all recognize us when we enter, and they serve us politely anyway. This is not fancy food. There are places that try to do upscale Tex-Mex, and there are places that do upscale Mexican(which is not Tex-Mex.) Do not go there. Tex-Mex is like Italian food — it should be like Mama made, even if your Mama never made it.(Sometimes, the memories are better if your Mama never made it.) First, get the bean and cheese nachos. They are not on the menu anymore, but with less ingredients, they’re not that good — plain cheese? — and with more, you’re getting too close to TGI Fridays. Just say«I need a full order of bean and cheese nachos. With onions.» Then, devour. I’ve had almost everything on the menu, but it took years, because I used to just get cheese enchiladas, since I hadn’t had them since the last visit. However, I think the flautas are good, my wife used to get the burritos all the time, and the tacos al carbon are amazing — and good for people who don’t want to take the time to build their own fajitas.(The fajitas are good, too.) So, let’s review. The food will remind you of the Tex-Mex you had as a child, even if you didn’t have it as a child. You will be a regular within a couple of visits. Bean and cheese nachos might save your soul. I’m getting hungry writing this.

This is a neighborhood gem on little street named Blackwell that is on the north side of Shady Brook Lane and Northwest Highway in back of Half Price Books. It’s great for luncheon or dinner. The food is consistently good. The staff is courteous and friendly and they really want to please their customers. I had the chicken and beef fajitas the other day when I met some business associates for luncheon. Check this dish out on this video.

A staple in Dallas for more than 40 years. Our«go to» place for Tex-Mex. From the enchiladas to the chile relleno. And the Margaritas! Pena makes a top shelf margarita to die for. Just went to their«First Tuesday» «salute to veterans». Norma outdid herself with a fantastic show featuring one of finest voices anywhere. Our 35th anniversary dinner was perfect! Thanks Casita!

Decided to eat here after a recommendation from a friend. We got there kind of early but this place was still packed. We did not have to wait too long for a table though. We decided to share the chicken fajitas. They were really good and tasty. The tortillas were nice and fresh and went very well with the fajita meat. The chips and salsa were good as well.

Had lunch here today. Service was fast and friendly. I ordered the breakfast burritos(breakfast served all day). Food arrived piping hot, and was delicious! Great meal. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy, but nice enough. Great meal!

I would say the food is probably average at best. There are tons of Mexican restaurants in Dallas if you haven’t noticed and this one is probably just par for the course. The Mrs ordered a margarita that was way over priced at 7 bucks for the size and I’m not even sure that it was made fresh, and it tasted like it was poured out of the pitcher that’s been sitting there for a while. Average price of the plates were 10 to 13 bucks. I ordered the fajitas and was a little surprised that they didn’t have any cheese to add. The Mrs ordered a enchilada, a taco and tamale and she didn’t care for the tamale at all. Pretty tasteless apparently. The service was fine and the waitresses were very attentive keeping the drinks full.

I have been going here since 2010. This is the place for Authentic Tex Mex, not fusion or Latino food. I love Tex Mex so for me it is Perfection. Great Food, Great Margaritas!

So I really like that I can get in and out of this place fast, the food is fresh and has a lot of great flavor, and that the staff is always on their game, friendly and accommodating! I think they do a fantastic job and for me that says a lot about your business. Price is very fair for the plate of food that you get so no complaints there either! Love the chips and salsa which never seem to end!

I grew up going to Casita Dominguez, and it was a solid, consistently good Tex Mex place. I’ve been two or three times since the change to Nueva Casita, mostly for nostalgic purposes, and it just seems to continue to go down hill. After this last visit, I decided that I need to just come to terms with the fact that even though the menu is the same, the food is not. The queso was burned, my fajitas were over cooked, and the service was horrible. There are far too many good Tex Mex restaurants in this city to waste time coming here. Sad but true.

Wasn’t super impressed. Food certainly wasn’t bad, but also wasn’t great. Pollo adobado was plain and almost like chicken coated in BBQ sauce. Salsa was decent, albeit a little too watery. Chips were so-so.

Shamefully I as a Dallas native never eat here until just today even though it has been around in one form or another forever. This is the oldest school style old school Tex-Mex place. It is small, intimate, irregularly shaped and has a completely Hispanic staff and most likely a largely Anglo customer base. This place is the Dallas of my childhood more than the Dallas of today and it was amazing how at home I felt here even though it was my firs time to darken the door. This could be Dallas in in 1983, 1993, 2003 or 2013. The look of the place is a little over the top with a Mexican mural on the wall, colorfully tiled tables similar to those used at Chili’s in the 90’s, rustic Spanish Colonial style chairs and soft mariachi music playing in the background. The service was good but it was not very crowded as we beat in a rush that may have been coming. The space was a little cramped as the booth I was sitting in was clearly designed before Americans got so super-sized but other than that I looked the way the place looked and felt. What earned this place the 4 star rating was the food. In a place like this the only thing I could imagine getting on my first time were cheese enchiladas with rice and beans with a bowl of guac to start out with. The gaucamole was actually quite good and flavorful and is about as good as any non-table gauc could ever get. I liked how the guacamole came in a generous portion in plain bowl with out all the lettuce and other filler designed to fool you into thinking you have more than you do. The guac was plainly served green gold with a few diced tomatoes on top. The cheese enchiladas were even better. They were super gooey, just a touch greasy and came with onions smothered on top inside a very good chili con carne. The rice and beans were good standard stuff. I wonder about this places ability to handle a crowd and the parking is not great. Also, this is as easy to miss spot that just an inch enough off of the well traveled paths where you have too look for it and parking is not the greatest but other than those quibbles there is not much bad to say about this place if the traditional highly Americanized Tex-Mex food is what you want. It’s not fancy but it is well done.

Well, what can I say… I went here per my 86 year old grandparents request. Thus, I was already going into this experience with a more family-oriented state of mind instead of a foodie-driven mind. I wasn’t expecting to be wined and dined. Just looking for a nice, humble brunch with Mammy and Boppa. Nueva Casita resides in the sleepy, small shopping center behind Half-Price Books on Northwest Highway. Previously, Casita Dominguez, Nueva Casita has continued to happily feed Lake Highlands families through the years. Including my family. After dining here for years and years, I guess I never realized it’s maybe not the best Tex-Mex in town until I reached the age of a mature palate. No doubt, the fact that this place still remains heavily frequented speaks volumes to its regular consumers’ devotion. But the fare could improve. Or at least put a little pizzazz in their selection. Although, sometimes it’s comforting to have that ‘go-to’ predictably, standard restaurant. You just need that from time to time. The house salsa is dynamite. I will give them that. Their service? Fantastic and friendly. The menu is nothing too special. Just Mexican staples. Stick to the enchiladas, I say. There was a nice perk — they happily took a special request and made us French Fries, which were delightful. Especially for a Mexican restaurant!

Bypassed this place dozens of times on the way to Henk’s or Half-Price, so i decided to stop and give it a try. Nice local hole-in-the-wall that barely gets noticed even though it has its own building and parking lot. Looks larger on the inside but still a pretty small place; standard Mexican restaurant décor. Had some cheese enchiladas off the lunch menu, these with fajita meat and pico on top, which I thought was a nice change up from the basics. Salsa is freshly made and just a touch spicy. Pretty standard food, pretty standard service, prices are good. Good marks for the place, even if it is no more than average Tex-Mex fare.
