I had not heard they closed, but I can’t say I’m surprised. We tried this place a while back with a Living Social discount(or Groupon or whatever deal of the day I got roped into). First time we tried to go, it was too late and they were closing up. Second time we made the trip, we got there in time, but there was no one else there. Still, the service was great, the shake was delicious, and the fry sampler was awesome. The burgers were good, but really didn’t make me feel like I needed to drive out of my way to get there. For their sake and the sake of local businesses, I hope they find a new place. For my sake, I hope it’s closer to me.

I’m a big fan and supporter of Burger Spot. Devrin and his family built a winner in my book. UNFORTUNATELY, they are CLOSEDINDEFINITELY in Lake Highlands… The sign on the door said the«locks were changed until rent was paid» per the landlord, a well known REIT. All of the stuff is still in there staring back at you through the glass, enticing, looking like the spot should open any minute… wooing all travelers to their stuffed burger and sonic ice and that sultry fry sampler. I can still taste it! And just like a Scooby Doo episode, they would have got away with it If it weren’t for that pesky«pay rent» sign! However, on FB it just says they’ve closed shop and looking for a new location. I like those guys. It was very convenient for me and the burgers were creative and tasty. Mostly I liked that it wasn’t a chain and the owners were there full time earning the business one good burger at a time. It’s a sad day, but then again I’m not a fan of folks who skip out on paying their bills… I’m sure there’s more to the story. To be continued…

I’m not normally a huge fan of gourmet burger joints, but Burger Spot won me over immediately with the free popcorn when you are waiting on your burgers! They capped that off with their french fry sampler, and a delicious burger! So yes… this really is the Burger Spot. Don’t miss it.

I like a good burger. I mean I REALLYLIKE a good burger. And I’ll go in search for the best burgers in town. After(finally) finding some on line info for Burger Spot(facebook page but no website, odd random pdf of the menu posted on someone’s blog…) my friend and I decided to go. Meh! All that way for an average, expensive burger! Maybe we hit them on an off night… Soggy cheese fries I won’t even discuss. The place was tense when we walked in. Maybe someone didn’t show up for work? I realize retail and the food industry can be sucky job opportunities but I need a smiling guy — not a stressed out guy — taking my order. I felt for the guy, who was taking orders, serving food and bussing tables with no time to make more popcorn(which is supposed to be free), but running a restaurant is hard. That’s why I don’t do it. I got the Frisco burger. Nice first bite with the crunchy toasted bun but then, it just got old, and a little dry. My friend got the one with the cheddar cheese«inside the burger». What? inside, means in side(within) the burger — not out side the burger. A little dissapointing. I’m not sorry we went but we probably won’t go back — too many other burger joints in town.

I absolutely LOVE this place. I have been twice and BOTH times, JOY has found me! I cannot venture away from the Bacon Burger with avocado. Seriously it is so delicious. I am soooo stuffed by the end of my meal, but will keep eating because my taste buds are calling the burger! Aside from the awesomeness of the burger, the fries are amazing… but the funnel cake fries. OMG… that’s all I can say. Literally it is like heaven on a platter. I love this place and will sing it’s name to anyone who has ears. I hope you go and visit bc the staff will make you feel right at home. That sounds good. Home = Burger Spot :)

We were still licking our wounds from the recent loss of Coach’s Burgers in Lake Highlands, when Burger Spot opened up. We wanted to give the place a try, even though it moved into the old Starbucks location. The therapy is helping. So, the burgers were pretty good… Nothing out of this world, but good. The menu is huge, so we need to come back and try again. My bacon cb was juicy and flavorful. The missus got the sliders, which had a sampling of three different sandwiches… Unique, and a cool choice for a burger joint. The fries were a little soggy, but overall good. Major downside: This place is EXPENSIVE. Star deducted accordingly. The rent must be high, or something, but brace your wallet for the initial shock.

Made with All-natural Black Angus beef and farm fresh produce from local growers, Burger Spot’s greasy burgers are, indeed, delicious. A friend suggested we eat there yesterday and we loved the burgers and the crispy sweet potato fries… but the regular shoestring fries were wonderful, too. A hole-in-the-wall, this little restaurant caters to Lake Highlands fans and features red, white and black décor and a mural of the Dallas skyline and Wildcat Stadium. But it’s the tasty burgers that will bring you back again… and the friendly service. While I love«Stairway to Heaven,» the music was a bit too loud for conversation… after the burger was gone! S. three words– SWEET.POTATO.FRIES. them–«would you like them salted, or would you to try the cinnamon sugar combination?» us-«umm.we’ll try the cinnamon sugar combo» Best decision of the evening! Well, second best decision– first best was going to Burger Spot for some burgers. This place was recommended to us by a lake highlands housewife, and damn am I thankful. One of my most important grading factors for a burger joint is «Does it have bleu cheese?:– yes, yes it does! We wandered up to the counter where a lovely young lady helped us out. I love me some bleucheese, but in scenarios where my burger options are unlimited AND creative, I usually opt for the most off-the-wall choice. This place has tons of burger topping combinations, and all looked delicious. I ordered the Alamo. Refired beans and fritos on a burger? YESFUCKINGPLEASE. Not only was burger on point, and the fries in-fucking-credible, they even give you a bag of popcorn while you wait for the freshly made burger! omg. Can’t say enough good things :)

A co-worker told me about Burger Spot a few weeks ago and I decided to give it a try today for lunch and I’m glad I did. So, the décor was nice. The theme was diner-esque. Lots of black and white with red accents. There was even a really big mural of some Dallas scenes on one of the walls, which I thought was a pretty cool addition. Apparently, the owner painted it himself. Oh, I almost forgot, they also have good taste in music. They were playing a CD by the Police while I was there. The menu was much larger than I expected for a burger place, so after some deliberation I ordered a classic burger and asked to make it a combo. The lady behind the counter asked me which kind of fries I would like. This surprised me and she explained that I could choose from original, flaming cajun, purple, or sweet potato. I ordered the sweet potato fries and went to get my drink. After I was seated I had another nice surprise. The nice lady offered me popcorn while I waited for my order. I enjoyed my popcorn for a few minutes, but not long, because just a few minutes later she was back with my order. The burger was really good. Much better than any I’ve found in this area. Not greasy at all, and cooked perfectly. The best thing was the sweet potato fries which had been sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. These were awesome! I can’t wait to go back and try some of the other offerings. They have grilled beef or chicken k-bobs, salads, chicken tenders, all kinds of burger options and you can even get s’mores. Yum! Overall, I was very impressed with this place.

Was this the greatest burger in the Metroplex? No-it wasn’t. Was this burger really delicious and able to satisfy my beef craving. Yes, yes it was! I had the blue cheese and bacon burger and my companion had something with beans and fritos on the burger. My bacon was delicious and the burger had a very nice flavor. We also had the jalapeño spots-sliced jalapenos deep fried and with spicy ranch dipping sauce-that’s some damn fine eating. The highlight of the meal was the sweet potato fries with their dusting of cinnamon and sugar. Redonkulous. I am certain these would be addictive if I was not a veteran of many a 12 step program. I will stop in again just for these fries! Also for the ice lovers out there they have great ice. Very Sonic like. I went back just to get a to go cup of ice. If you are really hungry when you arrive they have free popcorn for you to munch on while you wait for your order. The lovely young lady who took our order was as nice as could be and took obvious pride in the establishment. This was a very nice«spot» and one I plan on visiting again!

We rejoiced upon the opening of the Spot and have since dubbed it our very best neighborhood burger(sorry Jake’s!) I’ll be the first to admit that I may borderline on hippy when it comes to organic, hormone free, local, etc. etc… sorry, but I love the idea of local stuff from people that care about people! But, even if you don’t give a rat’s about all that stuff, there’s one thing you want to care about — the beef in the burgers at Burger Spot tastes simply AMAZING. Let me be clear: it actually has flavor, which is way more than most burger places can say. This is an important feature in a beef burger after all! They are juicy and cooked perfectly. What more could you want? Okay, maybe you want good fries. Well, they have that, too! And their amazing spicy ranch dressing is homemade! Doesn’t get more local than that… It’s great that they have lots of options for burger variations, but honestly, all I ever order is the classic burger. It’s a burger purist’s(hippy tree-hugger’s) dream come true!

Pretty good burger, but really nothing special! The staff was friendly, the burgers took quite a long time even though the place was pretty empty, and the restaurant was clean. Wouldn’t necessarily go back, but wouldn’t tell people not to visit either.

The beef in the burgers is DELICIOUS. We had three different types of burgers, all with perfect angus beef. The onion rings and fries took this from a four star to a three star. The fries in my basket were the bottom of the barrel apparently, just small bits, not any regular fries, as were in the other baskets. Hence my fries were overly greasy and a bit«old» grease taste. The onion rings were lacking in flavor. Great, friendly service; great location. Self serve drinks and hot sauce. $ 35 bux for lunch(burgers and drinks) for three.

Out, damn’d spot! out, I say! If Lady MacBeth would have given Burger Spot a try she might have been singing a completely different tune.(How many times do you get to quote Shakespeare when rejoicing over a burger? Yea!) Actually, I can’t erase«Spot» from my mind. This place has a truly enjoyable burger. I had seen the ads for«gourmet» burgers in the Observer for months and finally found an excuse to be in the Skillman/Audelia area. First off, this place has a lot of choices beyond burgers. K-Bob’s, salads, mac n cheese, and free freshly popped corn. Secondly, «gourmet» may fool you a bit. The various topping push it beyond the ordinary, but th eflavor screams burger joint in the best way possible. I had the stuffed cheddar half-pounder. Juicy and pink like a medium rare patty should be, this burger was everything I had hoped. It filled the bun perfectly and was just large enough to fill my entire mouth with every bite but small enough to actually fit by jaw-openeing capabilities. The shoestring Cajun fries were also a wonderful complement. I like my fries fat and soft. I was concerned when learning they would be thin cut but these skin-on beauties were magically browned, tasty and soft. The Cajun spice kicked them up a notch. So I highly recommend this spot. Beware: it is a little hard to find, look between El Fenix & Tom Thumb on Skillman. Grab Lady MacBeth on the way and thrill her with this taste sensation. She’ll agree that it is spot-on!

I tried this place a few weeks ago. They service was great and personal. I ordered the stuffed Cheddar burger. My only complaint is the burger was little undercooked. Overall it had a TREMENDOUS amount of flavor. The fries were great. It was a nice touch with BBQ popcorn while we waited. I’d put this up there with a top 3 burger joint in Dallas. After Wingfields, this is now my 2nd favorite, with Twisted Root falling further and further down. I’ll be back!

We were hungry pretty early last Saturday night and were craving a good burger, minus the bread(it was Passover). We went here after reading good reviews and noticed that they had a lot of items on the menu that we liked. The place is small and you order at the front and then sit down. They had so many delicious fattening items to chose from. We went with the mixed fries basket, Cali burger, and a bacon burger. While you wait for your food you can snack on seasoned popcorn in a brown paper sack. The patties were small, but would have been perfect if we could have had it between a bun. The fries came with sweet potato, regular, and onion rings, and a trio of dipping sauces. The orange tinted one, whatever it may have been, was our favorite and we dipped EVERYTHING in it. While we were finishing up an employee came around offering their funnel cake fries samples for dessert. DAMNYOUNOBREAD! We couldn’t have one. We will definitely be returning to this place, and enjoying every bite of the buns, breaded onion rings, and funnel cake fries!

ol & I decided to take a page out of the Dallas Morning News’ Best 5 burgers in Dallas article. I have to say this Leslie lady knows what she is talking about, she scored on this out of the way new burger joint. The Burger Spot can be best described as an upscale fast food joint. There is more selection, the food is better & a little more expensive but you also get a MUCH better experience. After reading a few reviews I saw that someone had a fry sampler, so that was the first thing I ordered. Secondly, I am a sucker for chili so I ordered the Chili Burger with American cheese instead of cheddar(another one of those childhood things). The cashier recomended the mushroom swiss burger so Sol went with that. When she asked him how it was cooked(meaning temperature wise, medium, medium well, etc.), his reply: «oh we just put it on the griddle back there». hehehe he wasn’t telling a joke either! Also free with the meal while you wait was popcorn; it had a very subtle spice/seasoning. Seems kinda wierd but you can’t help but grab a bag off the counter. Our fries arrived first, the guy who dropped them off said our burgers were on their way but he wanted to make sure we received our fries hot(that’s good customer service). In the sampler fry basket was 1) Cajun fries that had a good kick to ‘em 2) Onion rings that were battered & cooked to perfection 3) regular shoe string fries &4) Sweet potato fries with a dusting of brown sugar(all pictured to the right in order starting from the left). Great fry basket, I would definitely go back for the sole reason that they know how to fry their food. The dipping sauces were: Blue cheese, honey mustard & a spicy ranch. All were very complimentary to each«fry». If you venture out to the Burger Spot tell them to hit you with the Fry sampler. A couple short minutes later our burgers arrived. Yuuuuuummmmmmyyyyyy. My chili burger was amazing, it had a nice thick patty cooked medium, chili, plenty of American cheese & a soft white bun. It reminded me of the Islands pipeline burger from Mission Valley, mmmmmm. It was seriously identical, for you non-Californians this is a VERY good thing. The patty was perfectly cooked, very juicy. It was almost too much food but I managed. I admit we did leave a fair amount of fries on the plate, so go hungry. They had a lot of specialty burgers, and funnel cake fries which the owner told us we had to try. He also said their mac & cheese was an old family recipe and it was VERY good. Apparently this is family owned(all the more reason to go) and it is their first go at a burger place — not too shabby guys… in fact well done. Awesome array of Fries_Tender Beef_Party in your mouth

Found this place thanks to DMN Guide. The article picked five new to newish places and highlighted what makes them unique. Oddly enough, aside from Smashburger this was the only one open after six on a Sunday evening. The place is located in a strip mall — so do not expect anything grand. Two flat-screens were showing the Stars game which is a plus. My son and I ordered two classics. They offer cheddar, american and jack cheese if you swing that way. I out ordered my boy by adding bacon to my burger. The burgers are made with angus beef and just fatty enough to be perfect. Note — unless you order yours a different temp, the burgers come almost well done. Which means that 1⁄3 lb. patty really shrinks. You can add another patty for another $ 1.95. They use chopped onions which I am not a fan of, but they do use leaf lettuce. A menu item that makes this place stand-out is their fries sampler, it comes with onion rings, sweet potato fries, regular fires and cajun seasoned fires. The basket of yumm comes with fours sauces.(bbq, spicy ranch, honey mustard and catsup). We were kinda in a rush so we did not get to see if they had dessert. Another unique item is that they have fresh strawberry lemonade available.

A great new burger spot in Lake Highlands. They use all natural products so I guess that means it’s a healthy burger? Healthy or not it tasted delicious. I had bacon cheese burger that could have used a little more bacon but everything else was well above par. They give you free popcorn that seasoned with something interesting while you wait on your food. I quickly became addicted to it and ate it all. They were giving out free samples of their chili while we were there. I’m definitely trying either a chili cheese burger or a chili cheese hot dog next time. If your looking for a good burger joint… try it!

Headed down the Skillman Expressway I noticed this new burger place and had to give it a shot. The menu has a pretty good selection of items besides burgers, like ka-bobs and a variety of homemade style sides. Started off with their complimentary popcorn. Huh? Dill-flavored. Double-huh? There’s something different right off the bat. My brain and taste buds were utterly confused. Regardless, it was pretty addictive. My wife, the popcorn purist, would not appreciate the ingenuity though. On a scale of 1 to 10(1 being McDonald’s and 10 being Wingfields) I’d put it somewhere in the 5 and 6 range to be vaguely specific. It’s definitely not a greasy spoon burger. Served on ciabatta it was seasoned well and had a good amount of fresh veggies. Cooked well-done. Medium-rare might have pushed it up a notch for me. Thin cut fries… Meh… Just like men’s jeans, fries should not be skinny. The mac and cheese was homemade style and delicious. Had that nice layer of baked, golden cheesy goodness on top. They are still working out some kinks but this new place has plenty of potential. It is a welcome addition to an area that suffers from a lack of choice and quality.
