My experience was one of the worst I’ve had in quite some time and I will never return. My job was fairly straight-​forward: standard size pillow coverings and cushions. Very poor workmanship — crooked seams, zippers that were not fully sewn in and final products that didn’t measure the paperwork. Adding insult to injury, Pamela was abusive on several occasions, so much so that I had to escalate matters to the owner and deal only with him. Hassle expense here is way too much. There are too many competent upholsterers in Dallas who do a great job and treat their customers respectfully to spend your $$ here.

I hate wood and faux wood blinds. I love having privacy. Best Fabrics had a display inside their store that looked like two pieces of fabric that alternate between solid and see-​through in the color of your choice. I had never seen this type before. I looked them up online and they are called Sheer Shades. I priced them from several companies and Best Fabrics prices were about half of the price of anyone else. They make them in-​house so there’s no middle man. I absolutely LOVE them. Wish I could post a picture. All of my friends who came to see the new house went crazy over them. Thank you Best Fabrics!

I decided to visit this store because of the positive reviews I read on Unilocal.The store is very clean and EXTREMELY organized. They have a huge selection of fabrics and other upholstery accessories. Their prices are reasonable and the staff is very helpful. I will definitely go back to this store for future projects.

I’ve been shopping here since first learning of it years ago and have never been disappointed! Initially I’d go to all the fabric places in the area looking for the best of the best… finally learned it was all here! Have purchased fabric for everything from vinyl table tops, drapes, and upholstery to bridal gowns! Everything is clean, well managed and there’s a helpful and knowledgeable staff!

Home décor: Drapes, Curtains, Outdoor Fabric + Trims. Reupholster + Custom Drapes or Curtains too. Besides Best Fabrics I’d go to Childress Fabrics because they have the largest selection, but Best has better prices — especially on labor costs. Golden D’ Or Fabrics is worth a look since it’s practically next door to Best Fabrics + they have a home décor section besides their huge apparel, fashion, + quilting sections. I’d also go to Cutting Corners + for inspiration: Calico Corners + Rutherford’s.
Best Fabrics is clean + organized, with a large selection of home décor fabrics, leather (special order — you can’t buy whole hides at this place), plus trims for drapes, curtains + valances, and pillows. They have everything you need to make your own curtains or drapes, including rods, pull cords, strips of material used to pull up Roman Shades, and quick poke-​a-​hole in fabric so you can just get some curtains up quickly). They also carry sofa and chair legs in the same styles you’ll find at the big box hardware stores, but these are already stained.
Best will custom make draperies, headboards, + other things like Roman shades + valances, but you need to know your measurements before you come to the store so you don’t buy the wrong amount of yardage.
Best will reupholster furniture also. If you can’t bring the furniture piece in to the store, you’ll need pictures, and as many measurements as you can get. Plus, think if you’d like the cushions remade at the same time as this ups the price a lot. All this needs to be done IN THE STORE because — no offense — language barriers at play.
*TIP: Don’t go here for apparel + fashion fabrics unless you’re already shopping in the area — it’s not enough selection to be worth your while even though they carry a random bridal lace + a weird selection of Lycra + Spandex that looks like it’s for costumes, dance wear or ice skating costumes. Don’t be fooled — the main business is home décor fabrics + trims store than offers custom made window coverings + reupholstering of furniture.
*TIP: Park in front of the building on Harry Hines.

Of the discount fabric stores in the Perth/​Harry Hines area, this one is the cleanest, best lit and best organized of them all. They have a good selection, especially of upholstery fabric and outdoor fabric. If looking for subdued cottons or wools, it’s a bit thin. Wild prints and 1980s-​style glitter fabric? They got it. Thier parking lot in front is tricky to get in/​out of, but there is more parking on the side on Perth.

Lots and lots and lots of fabric. It’s basically a very large warehouse. Most of the fabric tends to be for upholstery or drapes. They also have fringy stuff for drapes and shiny stuff for other things. The sales racks have the tacky, stretchy fabrics at discount prices. I think it’s best if you’re looking for fabric for your couch or chair though. Luckily, it looks like there’s at least 10 more fabric stores within a mile of Best.
PS. The taco stand across the street is decent. The meat is underspiced but it’s fresh. Don’t let the neon, steel bars, and loud mexican music deter you from trying it. I highly recommend Friendly’s down on Northwest Hwy and Harry Hines though. Very very good tacos.
