See, THIS is why I only get my beauty supplies in South Oak Cliff. Do people know that they are being overcharged? They HAVE TO.
So, I hit up this spot because I needed a gift for my friend moving to Seattle. The best gift I could think of was a Rachel Dolezal wig just in case she too wanted to head up her local NAACP. Now, between you, I and the Lord, Rachel’s sad honey blonde monstrosity is $ 5.99 every day in the hood. Go to Jenny’s and see what I tell you. Anywho, I hit Unilocal to see where the closest beauty supply was located on the way to her house and I am led here. Let me tell you, for a place that have these prices, the store is nothing to write home about, offerings are limited, and for some reason the higher quality weaves were locked away in their own «champagne room». Did I end up finding the wig? Yes. Did I have to hunt down staff in order to check out two other contenders? Yes. Were the workers nice? Actually, very nice which is why I’ve given two stars. Was I able to find the wig? Yes. I did not plan on paying that much for it, but it is higher quality than Rachel’s and I will go all out for a good joke. So $ 30 later on a wig that would cost $ 19 at most in the hood, the wig has been delivered, I came off as a rock star for two minutes, and the wig looked awesome on. Will I be back here? Not a chance with my ever present ASOTT lifestyle (Always South of the Trinity, baby!)

I bought the cute as hell wig… see my pic… that’s the wig. I think people either love it or hate it but who cares… it’s fun with no commitment — well within my comfort range. Ok lady divas-​go get your wig or extensions on a amp up your sexy to a level most won’t be able to handle. luv ya dolls

Let me start by giving a description of my hair. I have long (below the bra line), thick but fine, very strait hair. I get a lot of complements on my natural hair. With that said, I still enjoy recreating looks from magazines, tv, etc. Last year, I bought extra long clip in extensions ~$ 100. They were real hair so it looks like my hair. It basically creates a Kardashian look. I can curl them, wash them and I get a ton of complements when I wear them. People know my hair looks fuller but no one knows it’s because I’ve added the volume with the extensions. Need help learning how to put them in? Just use youtube. Don’t worry about matching your color, the ladies at Beauty R Us are very helpful. I have to admit that the first time I went in there I was way overwhelmed and felt out of place like I was the wrong skin color but I was never treated that way so it was my own insecurity… shame on me.
Most recently, I went in for clip in bangs (which they do not carry) but ended up trying on a wig (a la Catherine Zeta Jones in Chicago. Almeda showed me how to put on a wig cap and put the wig on me. It seems as if she wasn’t supposed to let me try more than one because an asian lady came out and whispered something to her and Almeda got a little timid with me. I didn’t let it bother me… I understand they have to protect their inventory. I haven’t bought it yet but I plan on buying it soon. It doesn’t look too made up on me… actually looks as if I just had a fresh sassy hair cut and even better, it’s only $ 30.
