The most heartless company I have ever dealt with! My house was flooded in Taylor during the detrimental floods of 2015. I called to ask for a 2 day extension after I got the email that I was scheduled for disconnect. They absolutely refused. They did not accept that my mail was destroyed during the flood. They told me that I was lying about when They sent the email even though it was right in front of me. They sent it on a Sat evening at 5:37pm after they had already closed and also closed on Sunday. I called at 8am on the dot Monday morning. Common sense and a heart is not something they have. I absolutely hate them with every ounce of my soul.

As a customer for 6 years and once, unfortunately Consultant, I will never use or recommend them to anyone ever!!! Business wise you make no money and those that do are given a nasty mustard colored jacket. no thanks! Customer wise EVERY time I cal I wait on hold for at least an hour! Last call was a week ago where it too 1 hour 11 minutes to renew/​transfer energy. Which they have you renew quickly and then put you on hold without the opportunity to cancel (with a fee of course) they apologized and said they had a high volume of calls… EVERY SINGLE DAY? You’re telling me you don’t have enough customer service workers or you don’t train them we’ll enough to do their job. I will be canceling. Ambit will go out of business soon. Pretty sure no one likes them… besides the mustard jacket people.

Ridiculous awful company.
This company charged me $ 2.25 per therm from $ 0.53 a month before. I did not get a notification that there was a price hike. The company said they sent a letter but got no response from me, thus they put me into a variable term which is absurdly high priced.
Also, very difficult to get to the customer service to cancel the contract. Be very careful to sign any contract with this company.

I thought I’d write a review as a consultant. I got involved through a friend that pumped me up to thinking I could make extra monthly money through Ambit. I would need to pay $ 492 and then start signing up my friends and family as customers and consultants. I would get residual income by my customers paying their bills and make money off of consultants signing up their customers… First, you must put a list together, which I did… I did get a couple of consultants (sorry guys) and about 16 customers (including myself, my boss, and close friends) signed up after going through my ‘list’ i was told to put together. Fast forward almost a year and I have yet to get ANY residual income from my signed up customers and I basically got $ 450.00 for signing up the consultants. You also have to pay for a personal website at a ripoff price of $ 26.95 a month… I was also convinced to join Ambition (a motivational 3 day program) in Dallas this past September 2013 and spent a TON of money there paying for airfare, accomodations, food, etc… thinking I would be able to write this off on my taxes only to find out that I didn’t make enough. The money I made was considered ‘start up’ funds. I just feel so stupid… I do know that the people that are at the top make some kind of money, but the worker bees like me just make Ambit money. They get you so pumped up to thinking you’ll get so much money and I asked several of my higher ups (Senior Consultants and Regionals) how much they were ACTUALLY making and could never get an answer. I think it’s all a scam… Sucks because as a single parent with a 13 year old, I could’ve used that money wiser… trying to do the right thing trying to find a way to make extra money… oh and also, ‘won’ a prize for a 3 day getaway at Ambition through this company called Grand Incentives (see my review for this, too) has become a nightmare! I followed their very specific instructions and sent my $ 50 deposit to secure a vacation for my son and I…(I was so pumped to ‘win’ something) and have found that there are NO dates available EVER! So upset because again, spending money on what I thought was going to be something for my son and I… It’s been since October 2013 trying to get my money refunded. If Ambit is using this fraudulent company for fake non-​existant vacations, it just says a WHOLE bunch about what kind of company they are, too…
Don’t get suckered like I did… Thankfully, I am a forgiving person and am still friends with the people that got me into it… I just want others to know what to expect or should I say NOT EXPECT!

I have been an Ambit customer for 9 months now. I was able to locked in a 12 month fixed rate last year. I’m glad I did. I’m paying much less now. To me, gas is gas, why pay more for the same gas and same service from PG&E?

works fine for me. same as BGE just different name. all of the bad reviews are from 2009. it’s been 4 years now. use Ambit, they’re good

I am writing to you regarding my experience with Ambit Energy. I have Ambit Energy as a supplier in New York. Initially, we saved money with Ambit Energy. I have several family and friends who saved money with Ambit Energy. We also earn Free Electric and Gas. Thank you so much.

It’s nice that reps follow up with you after a negative post, but even after calls, I still do not have my security deposit back…

I use Ambit Energy, and I’m saving money and I’m earning a free energy credit each month, just because I referred people to my website, so they could sign up and be customers too. This is not a new concept. Many companies use a referral system to pay the average from those accounts and apply it to your bill. I think that if you were earning the free energy credit… you wouldn’t be disappointed.

Absolutely aweful company.
Here’s our story:
We payed the bill literally less than a week late, the online account said paid, the money was out of the bank so… we essentially thought it was paid.
A few days later we get an automated call that states we have a late bill, but, if we’ve already paid to disregard the message. So. we disregarded the message.
Less than another week after that the power is SHUT OFF!
We call during their RIDICULOUS hours (Mon-​Fri 8am-​6pm Sat 10am-​5pm and thats ALL) and it states that we have not paid the bill. We finally get a hold of a person and discuss the issue, they admit it was their fault and the electricity should NOT have been turned off. K, cool deal, duh!
However, it would take up to TWENTY FOUR hours to turn our energy back on… are you kidding me?
So now not only is this not our issue but we are having to sit in a sweltering TX heated house during the hottest month of the year. While our freezer and fridge food thaw/​spoils.
We had to leave the house and sleep elsewhere for the night because of this.
So something went wrong with the online payment so we had to pay again, except this time we notice a peculiar fee. Yes, because of their mistake WE had to pay the reconnect or disconnect fee, whatever the heck it was. Almost 80 $ for something THEY did wrong.
We call, and there isn’t anything they can do about it. Since they are only a fancy billing company for the actual electricity providers all they do is send a disconnection notice to the company and then the company fees us. They can’t wave that fee since it isn’t their company. I think they should have something in place though that allows them to credit people back if they do something like that.
How can you have a company with no set of safeguards for your customers?
Not only that but apparently they are a pyramid scam. You can work as a consultant and sell the energy but you only make money by having others below you who want to also sell the energy.
Needless to say I am THROUGH with going through these crappy billing companies.
Ambit is a total sham.
I do not in ANY way recommend Ambit Energy to anyone.

Funny I just saw someone post a review on Ambit because I just cancelled my service with them and am going with Green Mountain. My beef with them is if you are a couple days late paying your bill you automatically get a disconnection notice.
Then when you call them to try and work out a payment plan on a $ 300 bill their idea of a plan is 60% down now and 40% in 10 days. I told them that’s not a payment plan.
IDIOTS. I did have commerce energy and they bought them :(

Do you like getting lied to and scammed out of money by greedy crooks?
Then sign up with Ambit! My bill last December was 19 cents per kilowatt hour!!! I decided to cancel my service, and I paid up my balance, so they told me they would refund my 300 $ deposit via check in the mail. I got a check six weeks later for 150 $. The supervisor gave me a complete run around b.s. story. Run, don’t walk away from this company of Crooks!!!
