My wife and I tried this place few days ago. We tried chicken tikka masala and chicken biryani. The chicken tikka was creamy and very tasty. The biryani was also well spiced and better than all biryanis I had in other places. It’s better to call them 20 minutes before reaching there if you want the food to be ready once you get there. Staff were nice and helpful too! :)

Like many of the Indian buffet places, the ambience is nothing great but the service is good. Never seen an Indian buffet with so many meat options. Outside of the buffet their biriyani and curries are pretty good too.

Hopeless food, I have not eaten such a horrible Indian food before. None of the items in the buffet was good. I am not going to take any suggestions from friends on where to eat… extremely upsetting. Cutlery was foam and plastic.

I LOVE Ambala Grill! I’m a wimp at spices but the Green Chicken is worth the(slight) burn!!! The chicken is deliciously roasted and ridiculously moist. Their Naan melts in your mouth and the rice is savory and light as a feather. Their staff is exceptionally friendly and accomodating, and they don’t mind explaining what the dishes are to novices such as myself. Ambala recently catered an office event and everyone could not get enough of this deliciousness! :) If you want to score points with your family — or your boss — I highly recommend a visit!

Delicious and tender morsels of chicken, with a melt-in-your-mouth quality from being marinated in an aromatic spicy …

Ambala is a Pakistani/Indian restaurant located at Harry Hines near 635 where K’s Olé Fashion Hamburger used to be located. It has a pretty decent weekdays buffet at 8.99. The food selection is not elaborate but what is served seems enough and more importantly, it feels like they have been prepared fresh and by someone with Pakistani/Indian food knowledge. The buffet had about 10 items including salad and a dessert. I tried all but one beef item and most of them were good and it comes with fresh, big naan. On chicken, it had korma, chicken chili and chicken boti. Chicken korma was good but oily so it needs to be scooped carefully from the tray if you want to avoid the grease. The boti was fresh, delicately spiced and soft. The chicken chili was just OK; had a layer of coating unlike my previous experience, but not too bad. On vegetarian, the daal was somewhat disappointing as it is one of the simplest things to cook and I hate when it is spiced with peppers. The kaju curry, a veg items with potato and some other veggies was alright but too oily. The mutter(pea) n potato curry was really good but again very oily. The salad was fresh and had nice homemade sauce to complement it. The best item in the buffet was the Mutton Pulao; one of the best I’ve had. That dish alone is worth the trip to the place. It had a nice balance of spice, not too oily and had fallen-of-the-bone mutton pieces, and the pieces were plentiful. The fruit custard was tasty too. They do have a la carte items if you don’t want the buffet but they seem expensive. The location may not be ideal, however, the food is definitely something you can give it a try.
