I’m not sure what happened, but it looks like Kilbys has closed. All dark and locked doors the last time we stopped by. Very strange.

I stopped by on 10÷6÷2015 and the doors were locked. I think this place is closed.

The beer selection is fairly good, so if you are going to go there for beers, it’s fairly good. The food is lackluster and the ambiance is kind of what you would expect from a strip-mall pub… Not that there are not good strip-mall pubs, but this fits too many of the stereotypes.

If you’re looking for a bar that is a little more settle than your music blaring skit then may I suggest you give this tavern a try. It is nestled pretty much comfortably to the side of the dreaded construction down 290 zone but if you’ve managed to find this place then you are one of the mice that found the cheese. Parking is ample, clean and pretty well lit. As you walk in you will notice to the slight left is the actual bar with the taps winking their spout eyes at you. Slight to the right are the restrooms(semi clean). Now that you’ve been versed on the important parts you will be easy to find a few regular sit down tables and a few that you can literally stand up next too so take your pic, view the menu and someone will be with you shortly. We came in as a group of four, two veterans here and two newbies. My newbie friend had the chicken sandwich which by everybodies agreement is not really one of the things you want to try on the menu, it’s a little on the dry side. You have been warned. The chicken wings that were also had were great. They aren’t the miniature appetizer parts that you get at some places and had a nice kick to them without making you grab your throat and a swipe of your drink on the same motion. We all felt the ranch/blue cheese sauce that accompanied it was a little on the watery side but flavor was still intact. I had the mushroom swiss burger and asked for an addition of an egg and beg to PLEASE let it be over easy or even sunny up if it can’t be done. Well you know how that fairs in most places, yes it came out yoke cooked all the way, oh well, the burger still had a decent taste and was a decent size. I asked for medium well and it came out middle pink on the medium rare side. Somebody back there must be new. This was a Thursday night, everybody else has a special to the tune of ribeye steaks or something but they do not have that here. I’m never coming back… oh yes I will, there is a beer here that beckons for a second calling. Now, the beer, there is a great choice that will no overwhelm you with 100 choices but at the same time it’s not a dinky ten tap Tina too little selection neither. I had something of a dark red semi stout(dammit boy, did you drink that much that you forgot what you were drinking!) that I can remember having a strong initial hit with a semi bitter but still good finish. The second beer which I believe the chef or equal sat something in front of me that resembled a Guinness with heart as dark as the devil himself with a stern 1″ foamy head and a sweet taste that I’ve never had in a beer before. It was great, better than I expected and the strength of whatever it was in the glass battling with the sugary entrance evened this beer out to cap off a comment«Wow, this is really good» to everybody at my table expecting for the bitter beer face look. I’ll find out what these two beers were and get back with you later on it, it’s kind of a crave tugger thinking about that beer. Service, pretty much above part for what I’ve been used to experiencing in a Tavern but I’ll tell you what it helps to hear the person speaking to take your order rather than blaring music whether it come from a jukebox or your local band doing a gig. We were never left alone for more than 10 or 15 minutes before anybody walked by to see h ow things were. This is almost an on the fence review since the food kind of had us balking the word foul but the alcohol, service and atmosphere springs the momentum back up and warrants a follow up visit. Arnita, Rick F and Veronica F are you ready for round two?

I walked into this restaurant/bar just after noon on New Years Day for lunch. I ate here one time several years ago and had not returned. Today there were only 2 customers I guess because it was still kind of early. The restaurant was very cold inside. I guess they didn’t run the heat last night… After reading other reviews I decided on the black n blu hamburger that comes with fries for $ 12.5 and iced tea. When the tea arrived i sweetened it and noticed that it had an aftertaste to it like the filter needed changing or tea maker needed cleaning. The burger and fries arrived about 10 minutes later. The burger was large, juicy and very flavorful. It came with a lot of blu cheese on it. If I were to come back I would probably order another of their burgers only because I am not a big blu cheese fan. But I knew what I was getting when I ordered it. The fries were very good too. I would rate the food I ate at a strong 4. Very good. The ice tea was bad and someone should have checked it. Also my service was bad. When my food was delivered I was not asked if I needed more to drink or anything else. After starting the meal I realized that the small serving of ketchup was not nearly enough for the generous serving of fries however no me came by to check on me so I had to get up and go to the bar and ask for some more. When the waitress brought it to me she didn’t notice that my glass was almost empty and just delivered the ketchup. Then when finished I had to wait for almost 10 minutes for the bill. During this entire time 3 other patrons had walked in so they weren’t busy. In short the food was good. The tea bad. The restaurant was freezing cold and my service stunk. I should give a 2 overall but will be nice and give a 3 because the food was good. Perhaps I caught them in a bad day with all of the other negatives. I doubt that I will return though.

Service and beer selection were both seriously lacking here. Plus it’s insanely loud. Everyone had to shout to be heard, not exactly what I was expecting at only 7 at night. When we tried to order drinks, I kid you not– the first FIVEBEERS we asked about were«unavailable». Why advertise yourself as a tavern and then have a poor beer selection? Our waiter(being witness to our disgust at every one of our options being rejected) tried to console us by saying«Oh, that beer menu is super outdated. They just won’t replace it.» That was far from reassuring… Let me just get out of the way the fact that we had no lie about 6 waiters, including one manager. One took our drink order, another brought it, two separate waiters brought our meals, etc… We also put in an order for chicken nachos that never came… We never saw the waiter we ordered the nachos from again. We asked another waiter about the order and she said«oh yeah, I’ll put that in» to which we said«we did that… 20 minutes ago…» At that point we just canceled the nachos. Dinner was mediocre at best. The Wild Hog burger was okay… but not $ 12 okay. More like $ 6. The Classic BLT was $ 8.50 and it was basically just over cooked bacon and mayo on two pieces of cardboard. We won’t be coming back.
