Hair of Color

My sisters have been having their hair cut by Susan and recommended her to me when I was looking for a stylist. She has been cutting my hair for more than a year now. I have a pixie haircut which is not an easy style for a hairstylist but Susan cuts it masterfully!
I love how relaxed Susan’s salon is and the fact that it’s easy to schedule an appointment for the same day. If she’s busy, she lets me know and schedules me for an available time slot so I don’t have to fight for her attention with other customers. I also appreciate the fact that she listens to what I want and really looks at the photos I bring for reference and gives me her input and suggestions which is important because I trust her to know my hair texture and what can be done. She’s very nice so it’s comfortable spending an hour or two in her chair. Her assistant is also very friendly. My mom has her hair cut by Susan now and recommended her to her friends as well. She charges a very reasonable rate for a honest, no frills, great haircut. I’m so glad I’ve found her!

Supposedly on this site it says walk ins welcome well it’s a lie I just walked in n the suppose hairdresser just sent me away because she has a customer already. Didn’t even asked if I was willing to wait or why I was there. So don’t believe that walk ins are welcome at all.

I’ve called to make an appointment and explained how my hair was waist-​length. I asked the pricing for a cut and color and they gave me a reasonable price around $ 60. I went in with my own Loreal hair coloring and asked them to use that instead. The apprentice took my box but didn’t even use all the ingredients nor know how to mix it correctly. She didn’t add the conditioner or the color booster since I have dark hair. I only asked for a trim and by the end of it all I was unsatisfied with the dull color. They blamed my dark hair for the process although they forgot to add all the product. During the process the apprentice had NO idea how to wash my hair or condition and they apparently didn’t know I spoke Korean. Then when I wanted to pay, they increased the price saying «my hair was long». They didn’t even give me a discount for using my own product. I’ll never come back to this woman ever again! Swindler!

Hair of color is truly the best place in town for a haircut! Susan and her assistant Mee are amazing! This is my second time there and Susan was able to get myself, my husband and my three year old in on a Saturday for a haircut with no appointment! This was my three year old’s first professional haircut and Susan and Mee were so patient with her! While I was getting my hair cut Mee was so gracious and entertained my daughter for me. Susan’s cutting skills are amazing! I have naturally curly hair and she gave me exactly what I wanted when I came in, a perfect bob! I have been looking for a hairdresser for over 10 years now and finally I have found the perfect one! I am super picky when it comes to my hair and Susan is just pure perfection! Also, prices are beyond reasonable! You get an amazing haircut for a great price! Thank you to Susan and Mee for being so awesome!

I am not really into writing reviews but I just want to write this one because I got so many hair complements from my coworkers. I have wavy hair and Susan knows exactly what I was looking for. She paid really close attention to what I want to do. I have been a customer of Hair of Color for over a year now and my husband & son are also regular customers. I definitely recommend this hair salon!

Honestly, I walked in here because I’ve been putting off cutting my hair for AWHILE.
And honestly I walked out of here feeling like I should have never stopped here in the first place.
First, I walked in saying I needed to chop my damaged hair off and they immediately walked me over to wash my hair. I asked them if it was okay to just spray my hair or something since I had already washed it a couple of hours ago. They said no. Um ok.
Second, I walked over to get my hair cut I asked for 2 inches off and she suggested bangs and I was like, «no thank you!»
Third, my hair cut is finished, hair now shoulder length, I have two ladies blow drying my hair with two blow dryers, then start straightening my hair with two straighteners (yet damaging my hair all over again)
The lady says I’m done, walks me over to pay and it says $ 30 paid and left.
I wanted to cry. I walked out cursing myself telling myself wth did I walk in here?! It took one week to finally accept my decision and I actually love my hair now lol.
I gave this lady barely any direction to my hair I basically just gave her free will and she did a good job! I honestly think it was the best decision I’ve made all year.
The price is high but honestly I’ve never paid less than $ 20 – 30 for a hair cut which is why it’s been 4 years since my last one (poor girl in her 20s).
I would definitely recommend this place. The ladies were very kind. I don’t usually talk much when I go to any kind of salon so I can’t say they’re talkative. But they were kind for sure.
I’ll probably come back again in another 2 years or something.
Ambiance: it was like a little salon nothing fancy. Normal black chairs and vanities.
They used the basic stuff on hair like chi straighteners and Argan oil and stuff.
It was very quiet I walked in they were just talking to each other.

I’m often reminded of how hideous I look with long hair. So when I was not looking to impress anyone, I started to grow out my hair. And grow it I did. Eventually, I realized how horrible I looked and knew I could never experiment with certain styles and Susan made sure I knew that, but she also sounds like one of the nicest people ever.
When I got there, it was pretty empty. I didn’t need an appointment, and there’s even a sign that says that they’re not necessary. After Shampooing and rinsing my hair, Susan asked me what I wanted. I asked her to cut it short and maybe zero in the sides. She let me know that it wouldn’t be a good look for my head and suggested going for a one instead. At a barber shop, you’re more likely to get some dude saying it’s all on you, but Susan definitely made suggestions, and I appreciated it.
When she was done, she looked at my kind of surprised and saw how much different I looked. «OH MY GOD! SO DIFFERENT!»
And for a few weeks after, people who haven’t seen me in a while reacted the same. And it’s not a bad thing, I look good again, and that’s what matters most.

Having a lot of hair, it is always hard for hairstylist to figure out how to cut it, so it gives me a heartburn every time I need to find a new one. In the end, I decided to trust Unilocal’s reviews and to give this hair salon a chance.
It was a very nice experience: close to my place, short wait, reasonable price and, most importantly, great haircut, blow dry and styling! My hair came out exactly how I wanted it. Will definitely go back next time!

I’ve been to this place twice and I’m very happy with my hair. She really listened for what I wanted and also gave feedback/​opinion based on my hair condition so that you can walk out the salon satisfied. She gave me tips and tricks on how to maintain my new hair style and keep it healthy. I appreciate her service!

I was in town staying in Cyprus for my daughter’s basketball tournament in Anaheim. I was so busy before we left that I didn’t have time to wash and style my hair. We arrived early and I decided to look and see if I could find a good and reasonable place to get my hair washed and blow-​dried/​straight ironed. I was so fortunate to find this salon, Hair of Color, and only wish I had somewhere like this to go up in Walnut Creek where I live. My hair is very long, blond, and I have a lot of gray under the blond color! I like it straight but with body, and it takes me an hour to do myself. I was absolutely thrilled that I could get an appointment on a Friday afternoon at 4pm. Susan did the best job ever – and was very patient and careful and polite. Also, even when my hair was being shampooed, another nice woman washed it twice and used 3 conditioners. I usually suffer through the wash – as my scalp is totally sensitive. She did a perfect job – for 5 rinses, plus my neck was so comfortable in the sink support – which is NEVER my experience! The salon is not what you would call a «chic» establishment. It is in a simple little strip mall – but very clean and parking was right in front. They even had an easily accessible outlet so my 11 year old daughter could charge my iphone and watch Netflix while Susan did my hair. I could not believe it only cost $ 25 dollars for such an exceptional job! I had to tip her $ 10 at the minimum – she so deserved it. I would have to pay $ 45-​$ 65 up where I live for the same service – with less hair conditioning, less comfort, and less genuine gratitude and twice the price! I am a little jealous of those of you who live nearby – and just hope you will support her business and enjoy having her do your hair too!

I found Susan about 8 months ago via Unilocal.
She has hands and scissors of magic. I went in having colored my own hair to cover my ever increasing WHITE hair. When doing my own I just covered the whole head of hair. Not only just the new growth. So I had a MESS .
Susan never made me feel silly for my bad hair color job. But she gave me back 20 year of youth.
She color. highlighted, cut and styled my hair. I give honest feedback both good and bad. Susan and Hair of Color are definitely getting my FANTASTIC review.
I have referred my friend and he also loves her works. He has a hair (I call it cowlick) swirl that most hairstylist have a problem dealing with. Not Susan she gave him a good cut.

So surprise by this great salon at this location. Susan was a great. She was quick without being rushed. I went from medium length hair to a pixie hair cut. I also got my hair colored. Which I did not know what color. She helped me with picking the color for my skin tone. It was a great experience and I will be coming back.

I found this place via Unilocal.I absolutely agree with the reviews. Susan gave me a color, highlights, and cut. I asked for her opinion on my dark black hair. She chose a very nice shade to contrast with the highlights. She was fast, careful, so good with her hands, and she has excellent customer service. I always had a magazine in my hand next to my cup of water. This type of service is unusual for a salon with Korean writing. Total cost: 110. Decent price for such good work.

I wanted to do my hair asap and was looking on Unilocal for nearby salons with good reviews. Almost all of them were booked until I came across Hair of Color. From the outside I was unsure about it, but I’m glad I took a chance. I was actually really happy with the results! I had history of bad styling but Susan changed that for me today. I wanted to get either long layers or a long bob, but overall my dead ends cut off. She gave me sort of a bob and really got down with the scissors. I also got my hair dyed an even brown and both stylist worked on my hair making sure no strands were missed. The conditioning they did left my hair super soft. My boyfriend loved it and so did I. Yay

It is very difficult for me to find a hair stylist that I like, but I think I’ve found her!!! SUSAN. Such a sweet lady and I really like the way she had layered my hair and did my bangs. She was sweet enough to take me fifteen minutes before closing. She shampooed, conditioned, cut, and styed my hair for $ 25. This is the first time I really took a leap of faith in the Unilocal reviews and went to get my hair cut.
She is the FIRST person that REALLY listened to what I wanted. I told her that I wanted to cut it but still keep my hair long. I wanted to get rid of all my dried up/​dead hair. I loved it. I will definitely be coming back here for my haircuts: D
$ 25 is a little expensive to me BUT how often do we girls really cut our hair anyways? :)

For the price and the amazingly fast service, Susan is a dream. I was in a funk from breaking up with a guy and wanted a fresh new look. Susan not only listened to me (for some reason this is hard for a lot of my stylists to do) but she turned what could have been a hair disaster into a wicked cool asymmetrical bob.
She is a super sweet lady, does a good solid job and definitely knows how to listen to her customers. I would recommend going back to her at Hair of Color. The price cannot be beat and she is a humble and good stylist.

Got my hair cut here and unfortunately I didn’t get to ask the lady her name but my over experience was good.
Firstly, I have really long hair, down to my waist to be exact and I wanted to get trim but apparently it was consider a hair cut. She told me it was $ 25 so I was fine with it. I’m guessing that price included shampooing and conditioning but I didn’t feel the need for it, also assuming she will give me a discount for it but nope.
Overall, I was nervous that she was going to cut my hair too short, but to my surprise it was just perfect. I also have thick hair so she thinned out the edges to give it a lighter feel which I was really scared about but it actually came out great!
Definitely would come back bc the price is reasonable, service was good and there was no waits.
