I happen to work in the same plaza as this burger/Mexican food spot. This will be the first review I post based on price. If service and taste profile were out of this world the price point on some level would be justified. Unfortunately, both are only barley average. I took me 4 tries at this spot to realize«wow! That’s expensive».. Although convenient, still not enough to feel great once walking away from the cash register. Good news is I found a spot less than a half mile East on the corner of Cerritos and Knott… Amazing! This spot is above average on all points… taste, price, portion size and customer service. I hope these owners read there reviews and really listen to constructive criticism.

I’m a firm believer in the saying, «You get what you pay for.» At this place you don’t get what you pay for. I got the 3 chicken taquitos, french fries and a drink. They’re really stingy with the chicken and condiments that go on the tacos. I once asked for extra cheese and that was an extra $ 2! Employees aren’t really friendly.

The food is decent. Just OK. I’ve had better but I’ve had worse too. The breakfast burrito is probably the best out of what I’ve had from them. They charge extra for ordering with debit cards and they do not offer free refills like almost every other eatery on the planet. Two big points lost. The bathrooms are gross. I hope you washed your hands before coming here or brought some wet naps. I’ll east here only if I’m at work nearby and have no other choice.

This place has amazing food! Their pozole is so delicious and from burritos to fries and even menudo! I definitely would recommend this place. Even their chips and salsa! The chips are freshly made there! And everyone is always so nice!

Pretty weak burrito. Kinda had an Asian flavor to it, which I found odd. Other reviews are right about how they nickle and dime you — $.75 to refill your drink, $.50 to pay with a credit card. I paid over $ 7 for an all meat burrito(cash too), and I thought that was a lot for what I got. I saw raw corn tortillas cut into the shape of chips, so I thought those at least would be nice and fresh, but weren’t. Also the salsa was pretty poor. They were nice enough, but won’t go again.

A Mexican joint and a burger joint all rolled into one burrito! I opted for American fare which consisted of a cheese burger and fries. I wanted a chili burger that went by another name but they didn’t have it at the time… which was like after lunch rush on a Wednesday. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t spectacular either because at the end of the day it was just a cheeseburger I wanted to have chili on. Like everyone else said though they get you on that card swipe!

I’ve passed by this place hundreds of times and have never tried it… Until today. Now I know why. I ordered the suicide burrito which has ham, sausage, bacon, eggs, cheese and hash browns. Sounds like it’s hard to go wrong but the only reason that I kept eating it was because I felt bad that I paid almost $ 8.00 for it. The size of the burrito was decent. The bacon was soft and the hash browns were softer. The ham and sausage really only tasted like salt. Not impressed with anything here and the price is probably $ 3 – 4 higher than it should be on all items. There are a LOT of other places in the immediate area that I’d rather go to.

If you are going to charge people to pay with a credit or debit card, you might want to tell them that before sliding their cards. I could have easily paid with cash had I known up front I was going to be hosed for 50 cents just to pay with my debit card. When I questioned the cashier about it, she points to a sign the size of a postage stamp. This place is so over priced it’s ridiculous. You can get the same thing for much less anywhere else. Oh, and they charge you 75 cents if you want to refill your soda. Really? That refill costs the restaurant like 2 cents. Oh, you want grilled onions on your burger? That’ll be 35 cents. Who does that? Greedy restaurant owners, that’s who. Never going back to this dump. Speaking of dumps, the mens’ restroom is disgusting!

$ 10.04 for a cheeseburger combo rubbed me the wrong way from the beginning but the car was being repaired next door so whatayagonnado!!! After they filled my cup all the way to the top with ice, I went back up to the counter and asked for a little more soda. «That’ll be .75 cents» «What, I just paid over ten bucks and you want another .75 cents because you gave me too much ice to begin with!?» I left my food on the table after taking one bite from the burger and walked out telling them I will never come back again and that it was a matter of principle! But I must admit, that one bite WAS pretty good, which explains my 2 stars!

There are better places than this but now the pros and cons. Pros: Some dishes are very good and my personal favorite is the Carne Asada Fries. The lady ensures and double checks everybody’s orders for accuracy. They have 3 TVs in there. MEXICANIMPORTEDCOCACOLA!!! Cons: Very pricey, slow at cleaning the tables, the bathroom(OMFG), and parking.

I love their suicide burritos. Quick service and definitely a filling burrito worth the price. Yay for it being so close to home.

I really like it here but because there are a few car shops in in the same lot there are never any spaces to park. My car and three others were looking for spots for a while. When we did find a few spots to park in, the tire shop said those were for their business. No where did it say those spots were reserved. Needless to say, we all left. I dont think it’s fair that Athenians is losing customers due to a problem that could be fixed. These car shops should have a reserved amount of spaces for their cars and no more. I will be finding out who the Landlord is and contacting them in regards to this continuous issue. If they are unwilling to do anything about it then I will gladly take it up to City Hall and the council members. There is no reason that this good Mexican food joint should be losing customers due to a parking situation.

Had the suicide breakfast burrito(sausage, ham, & bacon), to my amazement the burrito was very bland. Yes, with all that meat it was lacking one important ingredient, flavor!!! The hot sauce was good, but it’s not a miracle worker. On to the next burrito spot!

So I was craving a legit breakfast burrito and decided to check my trusty Unilocal app. After countless reviews, tips, and pictures I decided to go the next morning. The customer service was okay, it wasn’t terrible but the cashier seemed pretty miserable. I asked for a suicide burrito which has every meat(sausage, ham, bacon) just the way i like it. I got the burrito on the way to school early morning… I was eating on the road when I stopped at the light and when I looked down at my burrito… I saw a hair. :*(The worst thing that can ever happen is finding hair in the food you were oh so enjoying. It was too late to turn back to the restaurant.(if I wasn’t near the freeway going to school, you bet I’d pull a uturn and go back) I was SODISGUSTED… I really want to go back but I HATE finding hair in my food… sigh…so sad… they have hygiene and sanitation issues. now I need to go somewhere else to find legit burritos that DONT have hair.

On a search to find the Best Breakfast Burrito, I ended up at Athenians. Since Athenians in Buena Park was a bit further from my location, I opted to go to there Cypress location. The place is located in the corner of a small strip next to a nail shop and Auto shop. I ordered the suicide burrito which included bacon, sausage, ham, eggs, cheese and hashbrown. I also ordered a side of pancakes and scrambled eggs. I called in advance so I didn’t have to wait. When I arrived at home to open my burrito, I was disappointed at the size. I had read reviews stating this burrito was huge, after all that’s why it’s named suicide burrito. I’m a girl who can eat and no way would this been enough for two people to share. It was average size and the taste was alright. Not mouth water and not disgusting, just okay. Don’t think I will be coming back here but who knows The Athenians in Buena Park has better reviews and maybe, just maybe there burritos will be good. Fingers crossed.

After a night of sheer and unabashed debauchery, I tend to crash at a friend’s couch and lucky for me, they live within walking distance of Athenian. Now, don’t let the«Burgers» name fool you. Yeah, they serve burgers, but when you walk in on a weekend they’ve got TONS of Mexican food. And it’s pretty dope too. Waitaminute, they have Mexican food everyday here, I was thinking the menudo on weekends only. Sorry man. If you like breakfast burritos their steak and egg burrito is out of this ****ing world!!! I cannot believe that breakfast burritos can taste this good! Their burgers are okay, their fries are really, really good. Their chorizo and egg burrito is also very good. As you can tell I mostly get breakfast here. Their greasy ass food is awesome for hangovers and dehydrated bodies! Their menudo on weekends is pretty solid, no, my grandpappy would never say it’s as good as my abuelitas. but it’s pretty good. This place doesn’t pretend to be authentic and that’s what this place is. It’s a good place to get some afforable, good-tasting food that you don’t have to compare to anyone else, because at the end of the day this place is a fast food place with a lot of different things on the menu. Tip #1: They DO accept debit and credit cards now!!! And there is no posted minimum. Tip #2: The parking lot is never full, so no parking issues here. Tip #3: This is a mom-and-pop place, so sometimes the service might be a little informal, but overall, the service here is pretty good. Tip #4: You gotta try their breakfast burritos, especially after an all-night rave!!! Just leave the glow-sticks at home… hahahahaha

I went here tonight for a quick bite because I’ve never had a burger here, I’ve only had bites of their famous breakfast burritos. More on that later. I came in at 8pm and there was no one in there. A couple people came in later. I had a bacon cheeseburger combo(+ fries & drink) for $ 6.99. Decent price considering the free refill. A lot of places don’t do that anymore. The lady working there? Suuuuuper nice. :) The burger? Pretty good. It wasn’t fantastic but it wasn’t mediocre/bland either. It had a good taste and it did quench my burger craving and that’s all that really matters. It was pretty small but I also had fries with it(I don’t eat that many carbs anymore, I decided to splurge tonight) so it ended up being the right amount of food for me. There was a LOT of Thousand Island on it(too much for me) but that’s just me being kinda picky. I’d definitely describe it as «A-OK.» The fries, though, were really good. They were served on a paper plate so it was easy for me to take them up to the counter for what I was about to do… What was I about to do, you ask? Douse them bitches in seasoned salt! That stuff is like crack. The fries were fresh and tasty on their own but that damned seasoned salt… has me by the lady-balls… My boyfriend had some fajita plate which actually was pretty legit. It came out practically on fire like it would in a restaurant. Not sure what I as expecting but it looked good. When I asked for a side of ranch, the guy gave it to me and I held up my hand full of change and when I asked him if I owed him anything he said, «It’s okay.» So, I’m not sure if they charge for ranch and he was just too busy with what he was doing or they actually don’t charge. Anyway, the breakfast burritos here are legit. Whenever I come back here in the future it’ll be for a burrito — not likely I’ll get a burger here as I have my favorite burger joints already. The breakfast burritos are a good portion of food for the price. They are more filling than they look. They’re also made in huge puddles of grease; you can tell when you unwrap it that the paper is orange, not yellow, because of the grease. Ignore that and you’re set to go on a magical tastebud adventure. Wheeeee.
