ZZ Truck came to my private event and everyone was happy! I contacted several other BBQ trucks when planning my event and they were not nearly has flexible, responsive, and professional. They put the other trucks to shame! Plus, the food was good too.

So the truck has been parked outside my building for a few weeks now around lunchtime, and finally, being pressed for time, I strolled out to grab a quick bite. The menu, seemed somewhat limited, only a few things — but, I figure if you can do a few things really well vs. a buncha things horribly, I don’t mind. A trip-tip hoagie with fries was ordered along with a can of soda, it was $ 11, which is a tad more than I really like to spend for lunch. Guy told me it’d be about 5 minutes, also, I didn’t mind, means they’re cookin’ up fresh. Five minutes, and blam, I’ve got food in my hand. There seem to be a variety of sauces, but I didn’t see any readily noticeable labels telling me what anything was. All I did was grab some ketchup then head back to my office to eat. It’s kind of a messy hoagie — cheesey & saucy, which, just looking at, I prepared and snagged a ton of napkins. First bite, in, and like some of the other readers have noted, it was real salty. Like… really salty. This was exacerbated by the really salty fries. There seems to be some kind of seasoning on them, but it’s a salt seasoning. I don’t think I’ll hit the truck up again, just because I don’t think my heart can take the sodium hit again.

At the SBDDAGG last night where I was looking forward to trying this truck since I have seen it around town but I was sadly disappointed. I ordered the fish and chips special with umami fries and this is the definition of umami translated from Japanese(the concept is Japanese): pleasant savory taste. So being someone who has experienced«umami» in Japan, I was expecting, like, a «BAM!» What I did see was the young cook open a bag of frozen fries and dump them in the deep fryer. There was nothing umami about those fries, and it is a travesty like substituting ground beef for chopped filet mignon in steak tartare. So not a big fan of the umami fries as there is nothing uniquely pleasant or savory about them. The«tempura» battered fish had a light tempura batter, but tempura done properly is flash fried with a light crispy batter, which is how tempura is done in most Tempura shops you would find in Japan. Tempura is actually judged by the quality of batter in Japan. Unfortunately, the«tempura» battered fish was too light, and was too soggy, like the oil was not hot enough. Also the Cod fish used was pretty dry in in small pieces. Fish and chips sounds simple, but after having them off a chipper van or two in Dublin and London, I guess the Japanese spin doesn’t fly since the thicker batter they used in traditional fish and chips keeps the fish moist. It wasn’t like the truck was busy, but I am giving them two stars as the people in the truck were very young and working really hard and probably didn’t have enough experience. Whoever owns this truck do a better job training your peeps.

**3.5 stars** I tried this truck at the Chinatown Summer Nights event and ordered the mini buffalo chicken sliders with fries. The chicken was crispy and juicy but I wish there were some veggies inside it, perhaps a piece of lettuce. The fries were great but very salty. Prices were in line with most other gourmet food trucks – close to $ 10. The person who took my order was very friendly. I wouldn’t mind trying again!

If you’re going to do a big event, be prepared. This truck came to my kids school for Family Fun Night. We waited for 45 minutes for 3 grilled cheese sandwiches!!! The truck next to this one felt so bad for the kids waiting that they started offering free chicken! We finally got the food and it was overly salty! We were given coupons for our next visit since it took sooooo long but what we should’ve got was our money back! There’s no way we would give it another go. Simply stated — no grilled cheese is good enough for anyone to wait 45 minutes — especially kids!

One of the great things about this truck is how well it’s priced. A slider and fries is 5 bucks. I try to keep my lunch budget under $ 10 so ZZ was a real treat. They also have different dipping sauces for your fries, so kudos for having more than just ketchup. If anything, try the garlic texas toast, for your afternoon carb fix.

This truck is the bomb! It is hard to imagine that this has anything to do with the Sizzler food chain. Regardless, they have this PIMPED out truck that can practically cook anything. I took a look inside and whoa, this truck can make anything. I tried the buffalo chicken sliders, pulled pork, and those awesome fries. I really liked everything I got from the truck. Even the chipotle sauce is the bomb.

Reprehensibly delicious. That’s the best way I can describe the Meatatarian sandwich. if you’ve ever wanted to see what meat on top of meat on top of meat with cheese looks like, this sandwich is for you. Tri tip on top of pulled pork and good Lord I just found a burger sandwiched in there for good measure. Try is at least once, your cardiologist will thank you. It was a tad on the salty side, but good. The umami fries were pretty good too, in between heart stopping bites of the sandwich. The crew working the truck is really cool too. I can’t remember the name of the dude running the truck, but he’s good people. Don’t know if I’d do the meatatarian again, but I’d definitely come back.

This truck surprised me! Thought it was just another sliders truck, and I guess it is, but the bread was awesome, I loved my french dip, and all was good. These are a little bigger than regular sliders, so one was enough for me. Word to the wise: Make sure you get the umami French fries!!! Super duper good, some of the best Ive had.

As this truck builds up, I surely hope that the quality of ingredients will follow. I have not seen a truck yet that uses as much salt as this one does. The fries are made in a decent flavored oil but the salt finish really need to be reduced. I would suggest a ground rose salt and an addition of Dill or Tarragon for the fries. A touch of Malibar pepper would finish them off nicely. The Sliders were half a disaster. I tried the BBQ and the French Dip version of the Tri Tip Slider. The Chipotle BBQ sauce is too sweet and very lacking of Chipotle. The AuJus was extremely salty. It must have been prepared next to the fries for that matter. The Tri Tip was dry and way overcooked. It too was salty. Recommendations: 1. A meat thermometer will help you get the TriTip just right. 135 degrees inside as it comes off the coals will finish out at 140 degrees. 2. Roast your own Chipotles for better flavor and quality control of your ingredients. 3. Go easy on the salt. A little bit goes a long way. 4. Bullseye makes a better BBQ sauce than the one you are using. Less sugar and more taste in my opinion. Otherwise you could make your own from scratch. 5. Angus beef would make a better impression on the taste buds. 6. Discover Malibar pepper. Chefs best friend.

I need to return for seconds is the first thought I had after finishing the sliders from ZZ Truck — both to taste more of their food and two because the food was pretty captivating. ZZ Truck is mainly a sliders truck — selling each for $ 4(tri tip, pulled pork and a few specials like chicken and shrimp po boys) along with french fry combos(just a $ 1 extra) make the entry to pay seem not too intimidating. There are also desserts available along with condiments by the truck. The service itself was pretty quick too and friendly. There was no hassle in asking about the food and learning more about the business. I had the two specials for the day, the chicken(I think!) and the shrimp po boy. They are sliders, by the way, so note that you should buy at least two(or three) to feel appeased. The rolls used weren’t too special unto themselves and the shrimp po boy was okay. However, the sauce on both sliders was excellent, with a good zing and taste and the chicken sandwich had a brilliant combination of a well-cooked chicken patty, the same good saucy zing, another mayo-like sauce that was lightly added, and a great cheese choice. It all combined into a terrific combination. ZZ Truck made a great first impression and I’m ready for round two, next time!

Stumbled upon this food truck at a business area in chatsworth where they have different food trucks every thursday. I didn’t think much of it because it was sizzler(I have a thing against major food chains tasting mediocre) but as I looked at the menu the special caught my eye, «Grilled cheese with umami fries» I had no clue what umami fries were but the guy who was helping me explained that they had a sweet and salty flavor, I was pretty much sold on thatand for $ 4 bucks its one hell of a deal for a food truck stand. less than 10 minutes they called my order and was surprised on the amount of fries given and the size of the grilled cheese, they had a condiments station(chipotle bbq, some kinda ranch sauce and jalapeño cheddar sauce). I tried the fries first DAMN delicious! and then took a bite of the grilled cheese with its american and pepper jack cheese slices, that too was an amazing piece of a sandwich, I also forgot to mention the buttery toast they use. Everything down to last bite was just delectable(FREAKINGNOMNOMNOM) definitely recommened this truck if you ever run into it!

Good food, great value. Highly recommend this truck for carnivores. Pulled pork was juicy, sauce on top was yummy, roll was fresh and tasty. A lot for 3 bucks. Fries were good but way too salty. My tongue is still stingin’ a bit. With tasty, crispy fries like these, little, if any salt is needed. Nice selection of self serve sauces like bbq, ranch, jalapeño, chipotle bbq, southwesetern ranch. Tri tip salad was very good. I put some southwestern ranch on there, it was perfect. Unfortunately, the black beans had gone bad/sour. I alerted the guy, he took care of it right away, nixed the beans on the truck and gave me the above mentioned fries for free. I eat beans at home, it’s tough to tell if they’re bad without tastin’ em. It happens. Plus, who eats a salad off a meat truck? Losers like me. Don’t expect chest length beards and sunglasses — that’s ZZ Top. But do remember that every girl’s crazy ’bout a sharp dressed man. So, keep lookin’ sharp and lookin’ for love, and soon enough you’ll find yourself enjoying that ol’ tube snake boogie!

I really truly don’t even know where to begin! ZZ Truck is so amazing!!! The fries are to die for, the sliders are perfect and the ultimate grilled cheese is out of this world! My husband gets the meat-a-tarian and has to eat it in quarters because of it’s size. Sometimes they even have these delicious fries that have the tri tip and sauce and cheese on them and I would eat them everyday if I could! ZZ truck is a must try!

This place was amazing! All my friends were asking for fries and for some of my sliders. I ordered 2 French dipped beef sliders with some of their orgasmic fries! They were delicious! I only paid $ 8. It was worth every cent! They have sauces to go with your meal. Best place ever! When I returned for a second time(not as hungry) and I brought my friends there complaining got to me and I had to take off a star.

Just tried the ZZ Truck and let me tell you it’s fantastic! I’m married to an Argentinian so meat is a daily requirement. It must be flavorful, well prepared and luckily ZZ Truck did not disappoint. We split the slider trio(1 Pulled Pork, 1 French Dip, 1BBQ Tri-Tip) w/Fries. The fries were perfect and the sandwiches were full of meat. I have to say that I’m pretty surprised the sliders were so large… definitely worth $ 10.00. One thing, if you’re looking for a traditional bbq sauce I don’t think they have it, but we didn’t ask for it either. They serve a tasty chipotle bbq sauce but for those(like me) that prefer to drown meat in Sweet Baby Rays you might be thrown when it looks a bit different.

A truck from the Sizzler Test Kitchen. This sounds like a meat-lovers dream come true. The menu’s main dishes are either $ 3 sliders or a $ 12 behemoth-type sandwich, which, of course, I had to try. The sandwich claimed to have 1⁄3 lb tri-tip, 1⁄3 lb pulled pork, and bacon, but it looked mighty skimpy when it was handed to me. I was able to finish it, and I’m not the hearty-appetite type. For $ 12, I’d expected more.

I love that they have french dip made with tri tip and served in smaller round $ 3 sizes, makes it a light meal or you can then try other things on the menu without blowing tons of $ like most food truck these days. Nice guy running the place too, gave my dog a plate of tri tip to himself for free! The workers are great too and some of them pretty cute, bonus!

Didn’t get a real chance to try their food and I wished I did. People there were raving about them and their tri tip looked amazing, but I had already stuffed my face from other food trucks and I was looking for some dessert. They had a Red Velvet Ice Cream Sandwich that made my sweet tooth tingle. At first it tasted pretty awesome, but then I grew tired of the cookie part because it was a little bit too rich. I ended up just eating all the ice cream which was delightfully tasty. A nice little treat overall. I’m going to have to review this place again once I try their actual food. Can’t wait because they look really good.
