One word… CLUTCH. I’ve never had authentic Hawaiian bbq so I don’t have anything to compare Ono to, but it was a great representation in my book! I ordered the mini meal– one protein, one scoop of rice and mac each. The mac was sweet and kinda tasted like potato salad. The bbq chicken was hot off the grill and the sauce was like a sweet soy. For $ 7 this was one of the best meals I’ve ever gotten from a mall food court!

In the mall, in the corner next to the restroom and Burger King. Opposite side of Panda. Normal food court so lots of seating. Solid, I love Onos. More so than L&L. They are quite consistent across the chain. Service wasn’t bad, not great tho. Serving size was a bit more generous last time so had to doc one for leaving me hungry… would still come back

This is my first and last time eating at Ono. I usually always go to L&L. Honestly I never even heard of Ono until I came to this mall. Anyways from the get go when I placed my order. The cashier with 8 pounds of make up was very rude. If I greet you with a hello, it’s polite to say it back. I had ordered a bbq mix for $ 9.99. She rang up my order so fast without even asking me if I wanted a drink, and I assumed it must have came with a drink. For 10 bucks it better, but it didnt. So after she gave me my receipt, I asked her if it came with a drink and she said no.(Now why the hell would she not ask if I wanted a drink and how does she expect one to eat all this and not wash it down.) When I finally received my food which took quite some time, I walk over to the table to sit down and I realize damn, no freaking utensils. What a backwards ass joint. Even the hole in the wall Chinese spots will give you utensils to eat with your food. But no here at Ono, you have to grab them yourself. The chicken was good but the rib and beef was basically all fat. Bottom line, when you have bad customer service it usually rubs off on the quality of the food. I will not be coming back to eat here, save your time and money and eat at L&L.

Ono’s is practically everywhere nowadays and you can’t go more than 5 miles without one. Located in the food court of Fox Hills mall, Ono’s is usually not very crowded and for good reason: it’s mediocre and takes a while to get your food. I got an order of the chicken katsu which comes with 2 scoops of rice, a side of macaroni salad and it is placed on top of steamed vegetables. While the katsu was nicely breaded and crispy, it was primarily flour that I was biting into. The chicken was very thin. Not to mention, the chicken wasn’t juicy at all. It was pretty dry… good thing they provide a side of Katsu sauce for you to dip your meat into. The steamed veggies on the bottom are all soggy too. Convenience is the only factor Ono’s has going for it. I’ll stick to L&L’s Hawaiian BBQ.

I ordered the Grilled Chicken, but the cashier didn’t mention the extra charge depending on the type of chicken. Most Ono Hawaiian places put a load of meat, but there wasn’t enough meat to cover my rice.

The food is decent but the service is HORRIBLE! I work at the mall and every time I come to ONO there’s always some issue. Today I ordered the mini curry chicken at 2:35 pm and at about 3:00 pm I see the guy filing my order, 25 minutes later? There was only about ½ spoon of curry left in the container so he puts a dallop of curry on the chicken then closes the lid. I assumed he was going to wait for more curry but instead closed the lid and called my number. When I confronted him about the curry he said«we’re out, take it»! I didn’t pay for this half ass shit so I asked for my money back. The girl at the register gave me an attitude when I told her about the situation. Her response was«we ran out, we’re in a mall, it’s busy, what do you expect»? I expect the food that I ordered! !!! She then says, only have two people cooking/filing orders. Well WTF? I thought you just said it was the mall and it’s always busy, why don’t you have more people? All said and done, spent 30 minutes of my lunch for food I never got and attitude that I didn’t need. The sad part is that it’s not because it’s the mall, or that it’s busy because it doesn’t matter what time of day or day of the week you come, they are slow as **** and half ass shit.

First of all, yes I know what I was getting into, yes it’s a mall foodcourt. I wasn’t expecting to be dazzled, I just wanted my mediocre food served to me in a timely foodcourt fashion. But 15 minutes??? that is too long for fastfood. Second gripe, yes it’s probably my fault for assuming but isn’t this Hawaiin bbq thing always served with macaroni??? I mean that’s the only redeeming quality of their food, creamy macaroni. I paid almost $ 10 for this and you can’t throw in a scoop? Well I’m never coming back here.

I came here for a quick dinner. It is located in the Food Court in the mall. I also got a can of Hawaiian Sun Pass-o-Guava Nectar. I ordered the Island White Fish; the cashier said it would take ten minutes. :Food: The Island White Fish Filet came with four large pieces layed on a bed of lettuce. It was tender on the inside but it was bland. The fish was breaded with Japanese panko bread crumbs. I got one scoop of white rice and a side of macaroni but it had no flavor. It also came with two sauces, one tasted sweet and spicy; the other one was sweet. Both sauce were lacking flavor. :M’s Notes: ~Located in the Food Court in the mall ~Parking Garage

We stumbled across this place while on a recent business trip to California. The food was cooked fresh in front of us. The portions were good and the taste was superb. Having been to Hawaii and tasting the real thing I can tell you that this is a very suitable substitute in the main land.

If you want a big lunch this is the place to go. For under $ 10 you won’t find a bigger serving in this mall. The food is great and the service is quick. Highly recommended.

Upon coming onto the counter of this place, I felt this energy from the cashier that I didn’t appreciate. I think she was having a bad day, but if I am greeting you in a very bubbly way I would expect the same response, especially knowing I might drop a couple of bucks for your business. I totally understand her though, that is one of the reason’s why I left retail and I don’t plan on going back because people got on my nerves. However, that shouldn’t dictate how you treat ALL people. I just had to point that out, because it is the way she made me feel. She made me feel like I was a total bother, and nuisance rather than a joy when being helped. I wasn’t even being rude pushy, or disagreeable. *Anywyays* I stopped by here afterschool, because I didn’t eat lunch. I order the Kbbq mix of meat. I had totally forgot that the Katsu chicken was not a part of this meal. It’s okay, though I’ll live, plus I am HAWNGY. I don’t know if it’s because I haven’t been to this place in a long time, but it was just not good. The meat tasted burnt and just overcooked. The bbq sauce usually has a very nice texture, and it’s in the middle of runny and thick, but today it was just thick. It had the same texture as Ketchup, and I wasn’t feeling it. *OH* another thing, I don’t appreciate them looking at me funny if I order more of the macaroni salad than rice. Just and FYI, the macaroni salad is one of the reasons I continue coming to this place. I just don’t know why they made it such a big deal? Another thing is, that just for the KBBQ mix and a large drink, the total for my entire meal was almost 13 dollars. I call that RIDICK. I just don’t see the specialty in this particular location, and that cashier really turned me off. I can tell you from experience, as a former manager, that if I saw one of my employees acting like that, I would definitely call her out. I have no problem in doing so. This place was eh. Maybe I’ll come on a weekend. People tend to be happier during the weekends.

Your basic Hawaiian fast food place, not unlike ones that I have visited on Maui and Oahu. If you like that sort of thing, than you will like this place. I’m a fan of the chicken katsu, myself. And don’t leave without at least two orders of Spam Musubi to put in your fridge and microwave for breakfast. Sometimes I come here for the Musubi alone. The menu is a bit confusing with several different combo options, some including the macaroni salad, some not, etc. So take your time to figure it out before ordering.

For a food court stand its pretty damn good and reasonable. Less than $ 10 gets you a combo plate. I get the chicken tereyaki with the side of rice and mac salad. Gotta get the mac salad. Add a drink… its more than $ 10. Duh. The portions are hit & miss tho. My 1st visit there was too much chicken. I wasn’t complaining but it was more than I was use to and wasn’t able to finish it. On my last visit… juuuuuuust enough. I ended up taking a piece off of my kids plate. Don’t judge me! She wasn’t gonna finish it anyways!!! Notable mention: The service was friendly and quick. Overall: If the lines are too long at your usual quick fix food stops at the mall and you’ve never considered Ono Hawaiian, by all means do try it. Cheers.

Food is decent. Water cups are ridiculously small. It’s good for lunch but not much more. Avoid the Katsu as it is usually overcooked and has very little meat.

This is my second trying Hawaiian food and it was so great. full of flavor and tender. My only wish is to have more of the macaroni salad! I will definitely be back and will be bringing friends in tow.

I love Ono. I always get the combo platter and the masubi. This time I wanted to try something new. I always get the spam masubi, but this time I also added the chicken masubi. Wasn’t as good as the spam. their macaroni salad is soooooooooooooo darn good too!!! 5 stars all the way

This took care of my Hawaiian foods cravings… However, if you want the real deal, you must seek out the mom and pops non chains. We pay in more ways than one for convenience but I still enjoyed the food here… Appreciate the effort and that it wasn’t bad!

Snail slow w/a very friendly staff. Don’t eat here if you don’t have the time to wait otherwise you’ll enjoy this place for the most part.

Cleaner and more modern-looking than most Ono locations. Slower than most Ono locations. I’ll still go back. Must have musibi some days.

Being that I’m such a devoted fan of L&L Hawaiian BBQ(and the Torrance Crossroads location, in particular — as a result of their tremendous portion sizes and well-prepared Chicken Combo Plate, in particular), I have pretty high and exacting standards when it comes to Americanized Hawaiian food. As far as food court establishments are concerned, however, Ono does a pretty solid job. The service is speedy and the staff members have a cheery demeanor — which isn’t always guaranteed when dining at a mall! Much like L&L, their BBQ Chicken Plate costs between $ 7 – 8 and consists of sticky rice, grilled BBQ chicken, and the Holy Grail of Hawaiian, the all-important Macaroni Salad. Ono’s take on grilled chicken is tender, juicy, and certainly not lacking in flavor; it’s served on top of a bed of steamed lettuce, as well. Unfortunately, the lettuce doesn’t necessarily take well to being topped with teriyaki sauce(which is served on the side); unlike L&L’s bedding of shredded cabbage, these greens end up taking on a soupy consistency that doesn’t meld too well with the rest of the platter’s components. The sticky is, well, sticky rice. As for the macaroni salad, it’s not as creamy as the variety served at L&L. Personally, I like my macaroni salads to be a little towards the thicker side in terms of consistency, but i suppose that this is a matter of taste. It’s cool, mild, and goes well with the grilled chicken — as a Macaroni Salad should. The major reason that I’m not more inclined to give Ono a higher rating is primarily because I’ve experienced much better in terms of portion sizes. I suppose that while this place’s pricing is somewhat dependent upon the prices offered by other competitors within the mall(and that customers are paying a bit of an extra cost for the convenience of having Hawaiian BBQ just steps away from their day’s shopping), I would still expect to enjoy larger servings for the amount that I’m paying. (Then again, maybe I’m just spoiled by L&L…two meals’ worth for seven bucks? Count me in!)
