This place is really good. If your looking for Mexican authentic food from the state of Oaxaca, Mexico then this is the place to go. the food is bomb. The mole is the best. The platanos for desert are really tasty. The Waiter and waitress very friendly. The owner sometimes drops by and your table and says thank you. Very friendly. So I suggest go try this place out

Came to this place on a Tuesday afternoon, after hearing my mother raving about this place. I have to say I wasn’t very impressed with the quality of the food. First of all, the service was okay. It wasn’t something spectacular and great as people are mentioning here. We were greeted by a young man in his late 20’s for sure, and he was amiable but throughout our stay he didn’t even come once around our table to ask if we were doing okay or if we needed anything. We had to get up and ask him to bring us napkins, the check, and some other things. He kind of looked like he was bothered by us asking him questions. Seriously, there are only 2 people in the restaurant — we should be getting top notch service! Second of all, the food was alright. I’m not going to say it’s nasty — but it was not spectacular. I ordered the Chicken Mole with the Pyramid Rice(I actually think that concept is cool) — and my mother got an entrée’ with 2 enchiladas, and different sides of meat. I could’ve ate something better, but it was okay like I mentioned before. We also got the 4 piece dessert afterward — which comes with a flan, and 3 portions of ice cream — everything was second rate actually. The flan tasted like the boxed flan from La Superior, and the ice cream was decent. The only ice cream flavor I loved was the rose petal ice cream! WARNING: ‘leche quemada’ ice cream was not GOOD. It made me throw up, and it tasted like the milk was spoiled. I would say this place is okay to say the least. Not the most impressive place in Venice!

The Enchiladas are the best. It’s like eating at home and the place its cozy. They also have great desserts. You can also eat outside. It feels like eating on your patio. Great service. Thank you Jocelyn.

The food here is absolutely amazing! Very high quality, authentic Oaxacan food that is very affordable. The guacamole is fantastic. The mole sauce is sooo good so anything with the mole sauce is recommended. The service here has always been very good. Give this place a try. You will not regret it. This is real Mexican cuisine!

Pretty good Oaxacan food with a great selection of mole sauces. I had the steak with red mole sauce. It came as a skirt steak over a bed of rice and swimming in delicious mole sauce. Service was very quick and friendly and the chips and mole sauce were great nibbles before the main food came out. I had the horchata which was amazingly delicious and I highly recommend you get it.

Well, I tried to give this place a boost with my original 5 star rating, but I was being a little generous, and our second visit was less successful. This time we were one of two tables, and still the waitress did not really check on us, or even pass through the dining room so we could get her attention. I happen to enjoy the typical Mexican restaurant sides of beans and rice. I usually put them together and they are typically tasty, with or without added salsa or hot sauce. My beans, which were not just beans, but had that«sauce» like canned beans have, were room temperature. I was worried that they had been sitting in the kitchen for a long time, and well below a safe temperature. So I asked for a new small serving of beans, and since I had poured them on my rice, also a new small rice. I had told the waitress that the beans were not hot. So she brought me a larger serving of beans and of rice(I had specifically asked for the small, and held up the little dish) but they were so bland, I mean really tasteless, the most tasteless beans and rice I have ever had, that I could barely eat any, but since I was still hungry, I added salsa and ate about half. Then the check comes. You can probably guess. They charged us for the rice and beans, which my husband didn’t tell me until now when I asked. So I lowered my star rating from 3 to 2. Poor service, bad food. I will spare you the details on my deep-fried grease bomb«quesadillas». Should probably be 1 star. Sad.

Went last Wednesday with the husband for lunch and the food was pretty good. Not wow, but pretty good. You know what was wow, the small soup that they complimentary give you while you wait for your entrée: Sopa de Elote. Omg! Now that was WOW. But now you’re wondering why I’m giving this place 5 stars if the food wasn’t WOW. It was the service. Yes! The gentleman that waited on us was so attentative, kind, gracious and even funny. It was busy when we got there and he was the only person seating, getting drinks, taking orders, delivering the food and cashing out customers(yes I pay attention to every detail since I’m also in the restaurant biz). Not once did he lacked in anything. Oh yeah, let’s review the food now; Husband got Mole and paired it with some Micheladas. Micheladas were good $ 5 each. Cheap! Mole was $ 10ish cheap also, but we had better mole, but it was edible. I had a Tlayuda and it was pretty bland with almost no flavor. I messed up, I should’ve gotten something else. Not a tortilla with dry bean paste. But I ate it, didn’t feel like returning it. I also got a small salad for appetizer, salad was actually really good. It had fruits and cranberries. As a beverage I opted for Maracuya? Never tried it before so I gave it a try. Egh! Too sweet it tasted just like Tang. Lol. Would I comeback again? Yeah, most likely :)

I’m just in love with Casa Oaxaca! The first time I have been there, I had Camarones a la Diabla and Sangria. Hands down! My second time in this restaurant: Again, FANTASTIC! I had Camarones Flameados con Mezcal and Marguerita. Great meal and great service. I just love this mexican restaurant and I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Nada nuevo… No creo volver a regresar.

I don’t ever write Unilocal reviews, but WOW this place was incredible! Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. We ordered the mole colorado(red mole) and tacos de barbacoa(goat meat tacos) and they were both incredible! The meat was so tender, and the sauces were all great. The staff was lovely and brought out some free flan for us after our meal(I haven’t had better flan)! There was also live music, which just added to the great atmosphere of the restaurant. I’ll definitely be returning and recommending this place to all of my friends!

Saturday was a great day I wife and I spent the whole day together went down to Venice on the way there we see this restaurant so we promised that we would go back for dinner which we did. It’s a small but very well decorated restaurant, not many people there for a Saturday which was good as we really were starving and didn’t want to wait to eat. I get the Enfrijoladas at first not realizing that in Oaxaca they use black beans instead of Pinto beans like in my Mother’s home state of Michoacan(Dumb Me Right? Lol). My wif got their Taquitos de Jamaica and when she said that I was like WTH? I am used to drinking that water, but in a fried taquito? NEVER! Let me tell you guys… They were delicious and very good, I will definitely get those next time around. My enfrijoladas(Tortillas Wrapped and Smoothered Eith Black Beans Instead Of Tomatoes Sauces) I was like DAMN! But I figured I would try them and boy oh boy were they delicious. Never will I judge a book by it’s cover again hahaha, i have eating in other Oaxacan places like the Guelaguetza and let me tell you. This place by far is more unique, more delicious, less expensive(Which Is Always Nice) and less busy. Nothing worst that to have to wait 1−½ hours to eat at that other location and be that expensive. Give this place a try if you are ever in the Culver City are and even if you aren’t take a drive and enjoy on a Saturday great food, nice cold beers and aguas freacas as well as the gentleman on the guitar playing some of our Mom’s and Pop’s old school jams like Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Pedro Infante, Javier Solis and others that I can’t remember their names right now Lol, you won’t regret trying it and you will definitely go back as my wife and I will do.

Not just no, but hell no. The only good thing about this place was the live music. There was a man singing with a guitar and it actually sounded very good. The service was slow. They seated us at a table that was still dirty from the previous patrons. We waited quite some time for the server to take our orders. I ordered a regular Coke, taquitos dorados, and the pan oaxaqueno. My fiancé ordered enchiladas. I’m not a fan of mole. Everything was covered in it. I was brought a Mexican Coke, which was irritating because I can’t taste the difference between regular and Mexican Coke, and the Mexican Coke costs more. The pan oaxaqueno never made it out but our server brought some other appetizer tray out that we did not order. I let her know I was confused and told her I ordered the pan oaxaqueno and not whatever it was she dropped off. She told me they didn’t have the pan oaxaqueno today and left the appetizer plate on the table. I even pointed to the thing on the menu when I ordered it. HOW did that happen? Turns out that appetizer thing cost $ 20, which I know because she charged us for it. All the appetizer things on the plate were gross. Our meals were gross and covered with sauces that lacked any flavor. Meat was lacking. I mean, I just can’t think of anything good to say except maybe at least they don’t serve Pepsi? Left no tip. Felt like her tip got paid for in the cost of the appetizer, and I am NOT a non-tipper. Will never return. Left dissatisfied and totally ticked off.

This place is a hidden treasure, I would have never stopped in if it weren’t by accident. The place is a little hidden on Venice, the margaritas are so delicious, the guacamole is amazing!!! I had the Canadiens con Jaiba in a cream sauce!!! OMG! I have never tasted this before! Amazingly delicious!!! The food is authentic Mexican food with suck favors! My palette has never been so excited! Great food! Great service!!! I will be back!!!

My friend and I were craving some ceviche and a coctel de camaron respectively, without having to drive out of the area. After a quick Unilocal search, we found this was the only place that had both, and decided to give it a try. Keep in mind, these are not their specialties, so we werent anticipating any thing special. Glad to say we were pleasantly surprised… We ordered the ceviche, coctel de camaron, and after seeing someone order the aguachiles, we got a side of that too. Their shrimp was fresh and tender in all three dishes. The shrimp in the coctel were perfectly cooked and plentiful. The ceviche was lime-y and fresh as well. The aguachiles were made with beautifully butterflied tiger shrimp, and were so fresh we could taste the sea(in a pleasant way). On top of that, the horchata was top knotch, and their house chips come with mole and a deliciously smokey chipotle salsa with a kick. Prices are more in the $$ range for ceviche, but considering this is a pleasant sit-down place with quality ingredients, you do get your money’s worth. Definitely will be coming back to try out the rest of their menu.

A must try place! I know good Oaxacan food, my parents are from Oaxaca. My Mother knows how to fix all of the traditional dishes, and she sets the standard high. Tlacolula flavor! Believe me when I say this place is not a place to think about twice! Go ahead and feel free. Walk in and sit down. Order a Tradicional. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed, or maybe order an Enpanada de Amarillo con pollo?! Bottom line. Try it. You won’t be let down.

I was visiting California and I was staying a few blocks away. This place caught my attention– it had a decent sign, there was nothing too flashy and it looked like a place where the locals come to eat. I had the entomatadas. Even though I ordered for a take out, I was highly surprised how organized the food was in my take out box and food presentation. Other places could learn something from Casa Oaxaca. I thought the food was good, but it wasn’t speculator. The rice, bean, meat were all solid. Everything was tasty and fresh. Considering the price, I would recommend this place.

Oaxacan gastronomical masterpiece! Truly authentic(OK I’ve never been to Oaxaca but Oaxacan food from Mexico City give me a pretty good reference!) and I love that the restaurant seems simple, quiet, and very home-grown. The selection is impressive, and the prices provide great value! They have four different kinds of mole sauce available, yes that’s right, FOUR. Black, red, green, and yellow. The also have green pozole, which I’ve never tried before. Their entrees are truly authentic and not what you would typically find in Los Angeles. I’m sure they also have taco options but you can find that in any ol’ shop. If you want rich, intense, flavorful mole sauces and true Mexican food, then this is the place to go! Eating here feels as if you’ve discovered a secret in the middle of a busy hub. It’s usually pretty calm with just a few families or couples enjoying delicious meals when I’ve walked in – pretty empty and very unpretentious. Almost everything here is made from corn, including their giant tortillas, which is rare in most restaurants. They also have wine and beer options! If you have never had Oaxacan food, or if you crave authentic flavors, definitely come here!

Holy guacamole. This place is so fresh and delicious. Their fish tacos are a must try, even if you just get one for $ 2 to try it. I loved the maracujá(passion fruit) agua fresca. The camarones a la diabla were incredible. The perfect amount of spice. They bring tortilla chips to your table too, drizzled in black molé(light and not too sweet) and topped with crumbled goat cheese. Ambiance is homey. Tall rafter ceilings, high back chairs, and well decorated. Our server was dressed charming too. New favorite place.

I live a couple blocks away from this place and finally caved in and got their Fish Taco Special, 3 for $ 6! This place is located right on Venice right between an Indian Chaat Café and a couple blocks away from a Rallys. They have a lot of seating and it was quite empty for a Tuesday night but maybe they just recently opened up. I got an interesting spin on Chips and Salsa? The chips were covered in a dark sweet sauce it wasn’t salsa but something I’ve never had before but it was good! The tacos came soon after and damn were they good! You know they do tacos right when you don’t need tapatio, tabasco, or any other hot sauce cause whatever they put on it is more than enough! The fish is lightly fried, the taco itself is warm, and its cheap! Next time I come here I’m getting 2 orders of the fish tacos: D
